4U and Generations are separate games so nothing can be transferred. And while 4U is better and has more content it's an almost dead game online. You won't have trouble finding hubs but there's no real "community" left for it. So if there's something specific you want to do you're going to have a hard time finding people that will also want to do it. Generations is the newest one so it's got a lot of players and you can transfer your Gen save to the expanded G rank version when that is released.

The main problems with Gen aren't "haha it's anime xDD" memes, that's a matter of taste. Objectively, its field of view is about half as wide, meaning everything looks closer to the screen and you can see less, which is really awful for judging whether you're close enough to hit a monster/far enough to avoid being hit, and it runs at a much lower fps. 4U is capped at 60 but usually runs between 40-60, almost always 60 or very close to it, while gen is capped at 30 and usually runs around 20-25- Low enough you will almost certainly be able to visibly see separate frames at times. This wouldn't be as much of a problem in a game like, I dunno, pokemon or something, but in a "frame-perfect" action game it's simply unacceptable.

It's also not a G rank game, so if you do get it I highly recommend you pirate it, you'll still be able to transfer save data to XX.

Generations feels like an early access game that feeds off your nostalgia in the weakest way possible. Characters with barely any personality lose whatever they had and there's a ton of "hey remember me?" that just feels contrived.
And everything else feels like a testing ground, they trying out new particle effects without thinking about what they're sacrificing, going a little crazy on monster designs to see what flies, and adding anime tier special attacks and styles that are horribly imbalanced.

But it does have a nice roster, save for deviants and their system. Suck a dick Ichinose.

literally stands on its tails, scooby doo winds up its legs in the air, and then spontaneously shoots forward without pushing off of anything. It looks extremely unnatural and takes me out of the game every time, and it spams that same move ad nauseum. Its only saving grace is that because it's an early low rank monster you never have to deal with it for long, you can just get it over with and move on to monsters that merely have stilted or lazy animations like rathian instead of outright terrible, unconvincing ones.

There's a difference between "realistic" and "convincing," dingus. That's like the people that say the hilarious glitches in every Elder Scrolls game are totally acceptable because "it's a setting where you can shoot lightning out of your hands, how does someone sinking waist-deep in a cobble road break your immersion?"

An example is most monsters' hipchecks. They stop suddenly as if hitting a wall at the end of the animation, which given their mass they should not be able to. However, they slide their feet on the ground to catch themselves and appear to physically recoil, which makes this action seem convincing despite being unrealistic.

Maccao literally stands on its tail and then instantly accelerates, sliding forward disconcertingly for no apparent reason, and stops by simply landing on its feet. Some older monsters do the same thing with flying sideways, like raths, but at least it's not the only thing they do.

You're fine on 11.3. Just set up homebrew via soundhax, grab MHGSV (https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-jks-savemanager-homebrew-cia-save-manager.413143/), dump your save, stick your sdcard in your computer to edit it, and inject it back into your game.
I just set this up for a friend of mine on 11.3 today because his 800+ hour save got corrupted and he doesn't want to fuck about in low rank again.

So, it seems the 2nd powershot on brave bow doesn't bring up your charge level twice. It ends copying the previous powershot charge level.
You can test this by firing twice quickly (the first shot ends being lvl2 because it auto-charges), the 2nd shot should be lvl1, and powershot makes it lvl2; firing a spread shot. The second powershot is spread shot again.

So vs Guild Style:

- You lose your double backhop until in brave mode (can single hop). In brave mode you can double backhop not only backwards, but to the sides. You don't get a free lvl3 charge tho.
- Can't arcshot until in brave mode. Then you can powershot twice. You can't powershot without shooting normally, just like in guild. (you can in """"adept""""). 2nd powershot uses ammo as well, but almost no stamina)
- No arcshots. (brave stance shot seems to work like an arcshot, because it doesn't seem to have any critical distance). This shot doesn't hit as far as the arrow makes it look. (it has that drill/wind effect of a pierce arrow)
- Brave stance shot deals KO damage both the arrow and the AoE at close range. And the arrow indeed becomes a pierce type shot. Combine with exhaust to KO barroth in 2 brave stance shots.

Depending on MVs brave could end being better.
+ Great KO capabilities (for bow)
+ Fucking double powershot (muh haphazard)
+ Backhop is more useful this time, even without free lvl3 charge.
+ Don't need to use evasive skills at all because brave stance counter is a great evasive maneuver, so you can stack invisible numbers.
+ Brave gauge fills fucking fast at close range.

Homebrew can't find the payloads it needs. In the root of your sdcard there should be a "3ds" folder, the soundhax mp4, a boot file, and the otherapp.
I've had people get stuck on this step because the guide says to use the contents of the homebrew starter folder without specifying that there are two layers to the .zip provided. There should be nothing in your root actually labeled "starter."
