Does playing as Strider actually get gud at some point? I started out playing Mage, restarted because I fucked up and missed a trophy quest, switched to Strider to see what it was about and it feels weak.
Do you get some decent weapons/upgrades/skills early on because I'm close to ditching this crap?
How should approach killing goblins or wolves etc? The triple shot uses up stamina so damn quick and all the other attacks suck. Plus there's no lock on which is gay. Even mage seems to have lock on for some spells.

ferocity and base bow attack is good with upgraded bow.
otherwise biting wind and basic daggers for wolves, skull splitter is good too.
for large monsters it's usually all about the climbing augments and hundred/thousand kisses.
late game volleys wreck everything and with the secret augments you can crawl all over a monster doing huge damage and barely ever lose your grip.
you can also cheese since you have access to blast arrows.
strider stat growth is just alright at least the decent stamina will help with skill spam.
it sounds like you might enjoy magic archer if you really can't get used to manually aiming though.

Starting up a playthrough for the first time on PC since I got it on sale and am finally getting around to it.
Is this game better played on a DS3 controller since it's derived from consoles, or does it really benefit from keyboard+mouse?

This game always reminded me of Dark Souls, and if that's any indication, I refused to play DS with kb+m; controller was mandatory.

Every class when you git gud enough and kill the archer fuckers as soon as possible. Big groups can still be relatively tough if you aren't overlevelled, though, especially the ones near bluemoon tower.
The less suited vocations are mage and sorc (if you don't cheese it with Cheesestrom and Bolide) since the bandits have some strangely high magic defense, I guess. It would have been better if those two classes had a sort of defensive move against projectiles.
The bandits are especially fun during some escort quests, in that case they are freaking dangerous.

Sure, why not, the other low level strider skills also work well, just don't forget to pick Ensnare if you aren't familiar enough with dodge rolling. But if you are in the first parts of the game and aren't familiar with melee fights, maybe fighting them as fighter would be better.

They do use items to regen hp but usually only when they're really hurt, be sure to never give them panacea though since they'll use it for things like drench and tarring. Pretty sure pawns never eat rotten food

We're on 340v2, the bug happened after 349 so I wouldn't bother checking if it's fixed until 350. If that doesn't fix it then I'll assume we're permanently fucked. No I forgot to change my affinities so I had ice and lightning.
I should probably change it to dark/holy and run through and get my mage some knowledge so she knows what to buff though, she never cast her dark buff or grapnel versus grigori for example.

It's different but similar in some ways.
If you like monster hunter give it a try.
You fight big monsters and get materials from them to upgrade weapons but the way you fight them is different than MH where it is more about timing and learning movesets, DD is more forgiving and using abilities and team work.

It seems big at first but it feels small after you play it awhile and especially after you place portcrystals to fast travel.
The content comes mostly in killing things, the story is OK but the sidequests are pretty weak.
I don't know about thousands, but I have around 400 now and still get enjoyment out of it.
I suggest you just get into it; you select one of three classes when you start and can change to something different when you reach the main city or the DLC area (which you really shouldn't explore much until much later on despite being able to go there less than 1 hour into the game).
Of the 9 classes, they fall into 3 basic categories, physical warrior, bow user and magic user. There are hybrid classes which play differently and you can change at will.
You get stat points at level up depending on your class, however it really isn't too big a deal as even a comparatively weak character can still make up for shortcomings with equipment.
Store all your materials you find at the inn and only sell duplicates of armor and weapons if you really need cash which comes very easily.
The big thing is missing out on sidequests but you can always start the game over and get another chance.
If you have any questions I'm sure someone can help if you can't find an answer though, have fun man.

How does this game compared to Oblivion? Is it better?

Hey guys, DDG was one of my favorite games, and I've played hundreds of hours on console then PC.

I'm interested to see if any major gameplay mods have came out since PC release that would make the game worth revisiting. I understand this is not a Bethesda game, so there are no huge content mods like that, but are there big stuff out besides graphic tweaks?

Any recommendations? I guess I don't mind if any mods break online interactions for my pawn.

I'd say it's pretty much objectively better.

It doesn't have nearly enough story content, and Oblivion actually had some decent quests. However, outside of that, this game is miles ahead in terms of combat, enemies, explorations.

There are a lot of free in the game, and the game can also be very punishing. You'll probably miss somethings or might get ambushed and die, but don't feel bad. Running away is a totally okay strategy too.

Anyways, I like Dragon's Dogma the most out of all of the 3d "action" open world RPGs. It doesn't offer much lore until near the end, where it goes full mindfuck mode. The more interesting stuff are sorta hidden in the background/last portion of the game.

TES is all about story content, while DD is all about gameplay content.

The only one that really matters is the Wyrmking ring, when the time comes just search it on the wiki to know how to keep it after the quest
They'll just lose some affinity but if you're in Gran Sorren you could get arrested
I'd highly recommend playing on a controller. The ability system is pretty counter intuitive on keyboard

I was in windows when suddenly the screen went black, after 2~3 seconds it came back and an icon from Intel Integrated GPU poped for little while next to the clock.

I launched DDDA and got a blue screen, I never had a BSOD on W10 so IDK if this was a BSOD. It restarted the laptop.

I launched the game again to see if something was fucked up, and maybe it's me, but the shadows seem at extremely low resolution (smoothed) and the vines look like PS2 graphics.
(I'm at the open space in BBI/Defiled_Truth (trees' shadows) and that back path leading to the veranda above with lots of vines.)

I have cranked the settings higher but it still doesn't fix the shadows from the trees, and I'm almost sure I was playing with default graphical settings before so the grass should still look good at medium.

I don't think the dedicated GPU has anything wrong, maybe some video settings in DDDA got fucked up after the crash?

Conjecture is maker's fingers since it supposedly doesn't count towards the damage cap. I'm unsure how multiple fingers in one fight would work since it isn't supposed to be possible.
