/egg/ Engineering Games General

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Thread replies: 756

CLANG IS FOREVER edition
previous ded: >>168260906

The thread is dedicated to all games about building machines and systems out of blocks, in space or otherwise. Also, all these games are ded. Only ded games may join, otherwise they must have their own thread.
Whether or not a game belongs in /egg/ is a case by case matter, however games that would belong in /svgg/, space voxel games general, are automatically considered /egg/

WebM for retards:
>gitgud.io/nixx/WebMConverter.git

List of currently known and vaguely not dead /egg/ games (this list is not fully inclusive and if you think a game might belong here, feel free to ask):
>Algodoo
>Avorion
>Besiege
>Chode - Children of Ded Earf
>Empyrion - Galactic Survival
>Factorio
>From the Depths
>Homebrew - Vehicle Sandbox
>Infinifactory
>Intersteller Rift
>KOHCTPYKTOP: Engineer of the People
>Machinecraft
>REM
>Robocraft
>Robot Arena 2
>Scrap Mechanic
>SHENZEN I/O
>Space Engineers
>SpaceChem
>StarMade
>GearBlocks

Games that are definitely not /egg/:
>Minecraft
>The general that quite literally cannot be named. The Mexican scam artist one. With the shitposters. Fuck off.
>Hearthstone, found in the hearthstone general, /hsg/, not in this general.

Information about these games, such as where to get them if they're not on steam, trailers, /egg/ conquered/hosted servers, and other shit can be found in this pad:

It's breddy gud. It's somewhat lacking in the engineering department though. It's present, but you don't have much to tinker and fuck with beside placement and overall structure.
I'd say unless there is a general better fit for it, it can stay here.
Oh and if you ever wanted to have land battleships on spider legs Wild Wild West-style - you found your game.

Isn't it basically Starmade?
>>
>>168585643
No, it's somewhere between corneroids and starmade but without the emphasis on making your ship run. i'd say it's the closest we've ever been to minecraft in space.

Starmade = Gigantism, stacking unintuitive shapes of generic system blocks together in the smallest volume possible, entire ship is skin ontop of systems, feels empty and cold

Corneroids = Unfeasible to make giant ships (lack of symmetry tools, placing blocks as a player rather than from a build mode, thrusters need to align with center of mass), systems are preset blocks that have to be linked to your power grid with cables, small scale means comfiness but not much to do. spooky aleins

Starwanderers = Systems seem to be basic blocks you plonk down somewhere to magically make your ship fly without much consequence or thought, meaning you can make a ship that is basically 100% interior. seems to have a PROCEDURAL GALAXY WHERE YOU CAN GO ANYWHERE type of gimmick.
>>
>>168586140
>magically make your ship fly
One of the videos mentioned that they want to make you need more thrusters with more mass
>>
>>168586227
wow, impressive
>>
>>168586227
that's basically what i mean. there doesn't seem to be any need to place down any blocks that actually make you rotate. you just slap on some thrusters where you want em and hop in the saddle
>>
>>168586502
Honestly, I'd rather need thrusters in every direction.
>>
>>168586552
does spengies take centre of mass into account yet?

i.e. if you have a ship like
||||---------------------|
where | is a thruster, it'll spin
>>
>>168586552
I would personally like a mix of both the Corneroids method and something else. Starting out, you'd have to go full Squattin' Steve on it and control thrusters manually, but as you get more technology and materials, you can make systems which partially or fully take over the controls. First, systems that allow you to bind thrusters into simple key groups, then controllers that allow variable thrust based on input, then analog, then full automatic control. All of them entirely optional.

>>168589338
do you resort to making small ammunition factories at the walls of your fort or you just have a big ammo factory in the center stringing ammo to all four corners of the base

that part seems a bitch to deal with without a relay of robots
>>
>>168589816
Singular ammo factory, fill them in manually when they're not important or just route in some belts and put inserters between each turret. Slow, but works.
>>
ded
>>
>>168589143
I'm doing that too.
Having no solars is easy, you just gotta keep feeding your base with coal/oil.
No logibots is a little trickier, you have to plan your shit really well, because there won't be any bots to save your ass when the spaghetti gets you.
For the defense, make a chain of turrets and inserters fed from a central system like other anon said. Coming up with a good expandable design helps you too.
I hear flame turrets are good too, but I haven't gotten them yet.
>>
>>168586802

If the shit is happening in front of you, how the electricity will chose you as a conduct?
Unless is above you there shouldn't be any issue.
>>
>>168598191
What the fuck do you think is the ground? It's conductive, and even though it may be just a little conductive, all those thousands of watts have to go somewhere, and the concrete might just be the most conductive thing it's got. And guess what's more conductive than concrete, or even dirt. And guess what happens when you add a smaller resistance resistor to a circuit in parallel.
>>

But at that point you risk more a leg-leg path than a leg-arm one.

The whole idea is to make death traps along the way and everything that delays the attackers as much as possible, and dont leave blind spots for your archers so the invaders can hide in them, but have them as sitting ducks.
Water and shit stoped old siege towers and other machinery, then long paths delay its advance when they get inside, and then mazes or something to avoid them reach the keep.

It looks like the same old shit but its an all new design. Hopefully it hits the sweet spot between resource cost, fuel efficiency, firepower and laser defense this time.

The last attempt was way short on laser power making it vulnerable to missiles, torpedoes and everything really, The overall dimensions are similar but laser power has increased 4x.

Noice. It's basically a more compact version of the bottom ship with the railguns and AA guns removed but with more engines and the double broadside lasers from the top design.

The last attempt at a compact battleship failed due to low engine/laser power and the turrets at he back being too close together.

One good hit set off all 3 turrets and blew the whole ass off.

Avorion ship building isn't complex, but can allow aesthetic designs.

the benefit of how its put together is you can build big good looking ships without wasting a huge ammount of times on repeatedly clicking LMB, so you get to have more fun with gameplay.

which is something avorion actually has a shitload of. I've finished a playthrough of it, and actually thought it was good enough I'd have been fooled to thinking it was a released game.

>>
>>168623363
Basically just needs a shitload of netcode optimisation, and a way to reduce, or a reduction of, jump calculation time.

It's a fucking fun killer to wait 5 minutes for the calculation to go when your upgraded drive can charge in 15 seconds.
>>
>>168623605
I'm only 1.7mil volume right now, so I haven't had much of an issue with it yet, but I can see how that would be a bitch. I think the calculation and drive charging is an important part in space tactics, but there should be SOME option for a module or something to reduce that calc time
>>
>>168623768
I've heard people say the calculation is an important part of tactics, but as the game is set up now it isn't. If you get attacked, pick the nearest sector and calculation time is almost negligible. Say you only jumped to one of the 8 adjacent sectors, which have super short calc time. That's already a 1/8 chance they jump to where you are.

If it was a time more or less fixed to mass and adjusted by modules or computer core, it makes sense. Linearly increasing by jump distance is just artificially filling out the gametime.

Once I've got a big enough jump drive I find I set a destination, then alt tab out and watch a video on youtube, come back, and find it's still calculating for a few seconds then I'll do the jump. Then rinse and repeat.

Someone didn't sterilize the cats

90-100 dwarves per fort + assorted animals will run fine on a potato. It's really mostly about path finding bottlenecking CPUs.
>>
>>168645090
Whenever I hear about cats in Dwarf Fortress I think about the time I did some calculations on using a chicken army in Rimworld. With 25 hens you could have about 250 chicks a month, the first of which would mature by the end of that month. That makes just over 25 chicks maturing every day. Not even guys in power armor can withstand chicken hordes, the death by a thousand pecks is just too strong.
>>
>>168645372
Problem with cats in dwarf fortess isn't that they breed too fast, it's that cats adopt dwarves as pets and not the other way around. So you could cull them all, but then you're killing someone's pet, and then every dwarf is pissed and the riots break out, and then you're sending an expidion to recover the lost fortress populated by feral children (DO NOT underestimate dwarven children).

Nah, it really Toadster bottlenecking the cpu, I've once run an aboveground fort with 20 adults and 20 children till the first few matured. The layout really didn't changed that much save for walled off quarry in the depth.
The fps gradually goes down anyway, albeit not as skydiving as it does for uncontrolled population.

Its all the effects and shit that gets piled on for each check. A splinter in the foot will give a mood ailment, will slow down the dorf, ect ect, making every single thing that happens in the fort something that will slow you down eventually.

Honestly, as far as religions go, this one is definitely fucked in the head enough to warrant it being not boring

It's really just Christianity and Judaism that's kind of boring, and even then Christianity had the crusades and all sorts of fucked up stories from back in the dark age/medieval period.

>A shrine to CLANG
Assuming only CLANG could ever appease CLANG, the only way it might be even slightly possible to contain it for the purposes of a shrine, is if we created a star of pistons, gears and machinery buckling under its own weight in the hopes that either gravity will hold it down, or that the machinery flying off of it, radiating away from it will eventually stop being possessed by CLANG and simply become an inert asteroid of sorts.

We would need to build a CLANG star, fueled by pistons and blood.

These are good ideas, cheers guys.
The restitution/gas chamber one might be a bit harder. I'd need a way to vary it over time.

The plinketto board idea is good. It's in zero grav but that doesn't matter, I just need to add a driving force to the puck. That'll give me a 50/50 chance of doing 2 actions.
If I use two one-peg plinketto boards simultaneously I get 4 possible equally likely combinations, and I can scale that up indefinitely.
This'll fit well with the binary stuff I'll be doing. thanks /egg/

Except that wouldn't happen. The layout of the food would randomize the direction.
>turn left or right
>go forward
>eventually find food
>maybe there is more food within reach, which will decide the direction of travel until there is no more food
>turn left or right
>go forward
>>
>>168681221
Or you could simply start moving forward before deciding whether to turn or not. Inertial randomization seems the most intuitive solution.

You mean 15-30 minutes? It doesn't even require blue science to unlock, for crying out loud.
It would be pointless to make trains available earlier, given that early bases can often fill their resource needs with just a few yellow belts.
>>
>>168681672
The volumetric behavior appears unchanged from the last update. That update made it so that the nominal thickness for stacks was just a bit larger.

Thrusters have been buffed, and properly utilizing directional thrusters instead of omnidirectional old thrusters, gives even more bonus.

People are bitching because muh ship don't turn so good. But it just requires some more effort in efficient placement now.

I don't get what you mean. Do you mean moving forward indefinitely and waiting for it to find food?

Won't work unfortunately unless I place the antenna perpendicular to the direction of movement

>>168681258
Food randomises the direction only if it's within range. It's when there is no food that I'm stumped. I want a somewhat organic looking search pattern.
The plan is for it to pick a direction, move forward, and scan the surrounding area for food, and repeat.

No, I mean not launching the marble, but just letting the marble 'fall' as you start moving in a direction.
>>
>>168682336
That's an interesting idea. Would be an elegant solution to the problem.

The only difficulty is that many part of the bot are activated by rotating cams and discs. They impart a small torque on the machine while they're rotating which might bias the ball to fall in one direction over another.
>>

Call it the Stallman bot or something.
>>
>>168682910
It's not random, since the cam/disc will always rotate in one direction.
The cam completes a full revolution, and since it's attached to the body of the bug the bug rotates 1/100th of a revolution in the opposite direction. The marble will be pushed to the direction the body of the bot moves. Even a tiny force like that will bias it to taking one path.
>>
>>168682192
Here's how I'd go about it.
>if food within detection range, move towards it
>if no food within detection range, start plinketto
>plinketto would then output an integer in interval [-n, ... -1, 0, +1 ... +n], where 0 is the most common output
>rotate lifeform according to plinketto output
>move lifeform forward
>repeat
The result is that the lifeform should approximate the direction it had, when it last found food.
Found food when going NW? Go NW more, but stray from most direct path according to normal distribution.

Something like that. If I jack up the sim frequency to 1200 updates/sec it gives a good distribution, but at 100Hz I think the balls are slightly more inclined to fall left if they previously fell to the left. Since it only needs a tiny input to tip the balance either way they all end up clustering at the sides.

>>
>>168687206
I'll give that a shot. In the ones I posted the chutes were the exact width of the balls, and I was hoping that they would stop all horizontal motion to stop it being biased.

Maybe a bit of random bouncing is what it needs.
>>
>>168687017
Rigid body physics is supposed to be deterministic, there is no RNG.
>>
>>168687418
Where I was really going with that was that if the chute is an even number of pixels wide, it might not be possible for the dividing spike to be placed -exactly- in the center of the path. It could be one pixel off,

That wouldn't explain why it works at higher sim speed though
>>
How's Intersteller Rift?
>>
>>168687513

It is, for the most part. All the random elements of it come from floating point errors in calculating collisions and so on.
I've been trying to find a way to take advantage of that.

Also
>>168687206
Gave it a shot, but still getting repeated results with wider chutes.

I'm beginning the think the only time it will ever be really random if it's already placed on a complex bot. All the shaking and torque and vibration will affect the marbles. As an isolated, rigid fixed-to-background system there isn't enough noise to affect the marbles so they follow predetermined paths depending on their exact starting location.

Fuck. I really want this to work because it would be absolutely perfect for determining random behaviour.
>>
>>168687616
There aren't any "pixels" in the game. I use a grid-base of 10 which at max res gives me a snap-to-grid resolution of 1cm. But I can bypass that and make geoms arbitrarily thinner.

And the dividing spikes were definitely in the exact centre. The same thing happens when I use circles instead of spikes. They're primitives insteads of polygons and I still get the predetermined behaviour.

There's a thought. Either a high mass movable ball, or probably a very high air friction object. That will put the centre of drag/mass to the side of the centre of thrust. which should ~theoretically~ make a spiral.

You could make the balls themselves the mass. Just place the two ball receptacles farther apart, give the balls themselves some weight and you'll be done.
You could also add a collector system, since when you deaccelerate, the balls will keep on flying in the same direction and you could scoop them back up.

Did you like FTL? That's basically the long term plan for single player. Battlestar Galactica and all that. Short term is a gladiator campaign where you build up a team over a period of a season. Robot Arena 2 with more management, basically.

> And Resources, NPF factions, spess stations, Life support, and so on.

Depending on what we do for the single player, these might be a major thing or a minor thing but there eventually be a thing. Not the focus, fair enough. VERY specifically, what would you want? I mean exactly, this is important to me.

>Oh, and I like the current building system.
Thank you, but it needs work. Planning on something more similar to sketchup (or any other common modeling program), where you can manipulate shit after its placed down, and have it based on either a spindle or use the current 'fps' method. Also an undo function. Not having one is garbage.

Not to detract from 0g dogfighting which is also fun, but being able to see how far parts go when blown violently off vehicles is part of the fun and looks cooler when you can straight-up see how far the debris goes. There aren't actually that many games in this general where debris remains after being destroyed, and it's something I always missed when Robocraft was still playable.
Also, creating a ground vehicle means you can have less of a focus on where the center of mass goes (i.e. it can go further forwards/backwards or up/down while still being usable than in a spacecraft).

In part, this is why we're releasing ground stuff multiplayer first to public use, and disabling 6dof for the first while. Its simply easier and better, without necessary components such as targeting systems, countermeasures and whatever. 6dof is intended to be the final form of REM, the tier 10 of Robocuck and World of tanks, if you will.

I posted the plan before, but basically the way its going to go is we're going to have madmax shit first, with thinly armored buggies with mortars and smgs running around a desert.

Much MUCH easier to get into than perfectly balanced 6dof with structural physics.

On a side note, its actually more efficient to not delete parts in multiplayer, due to how our physics work. We've seen trails and fields of debris in multiplayer weapons testing.
>>

>>168690354
Well, first, I'm excited for ground stuff in general.
Second - it allows for tonk battles, aka battles between shit too heavy and unwieldy to fly around in zero-g. Two-dimensional nature of the ground combat means that enemy movement is more predictable, which forces people to really armor up their shoe boxes and put heavier dakka on them.

>I think I head you have or at least been working on wheels and, maybe, tracks, is any of this correct?

Yes. Wheels are of course easier to do, so those are first. But we have systems in place for dynamically placed tracks on a frame with a drive train physically hooked up. Less FTD magic, more physically applied nonsense. Like that one game in the last thread.

>>168542946
This one.

You'll need a gearbox, a transmission, a driveshaft. The good shit. These will have tolerances and limits that you will need to abide by.

They'll be more advanced, better versions down a progression research tree, WOT style but less awful. Sub module side upgrades, like super chargers and improved exhaust manifolds.

>FTL, BSG, Robot Arena 2 +
Interesting, sounds good so far

>VERY specifically, what would you want?
Well, I know what I don't want:
Robocraft Professional

This is my biggest fear.
What I want is easy, but also likely impossible to combine in one game:
Scripting possibilities like in Spengies, an alternative to limit freedom/autism could be programming existing ship systems with a limited language like in TIS or Shenzen IO.
Completely destructible environment and planets, rotors, pistons, ... (e.g. Spengies, but real water)
Center of mass and thrust should matter, also engine isp, orbital mechanics (newtonian for short distances), thermodynamics, atmospheres, lift, drag, maneuver planning, custom cockpits, relative speed indicators, pro/retro markers, ... (see the game that quite literally cannot be named, also watch The Expanse)
Advandced engineering autism like in CHODE
SI units
GAS mechanics (see SS13)
Ship crews, stations, subsystems, energy management (FTL minus too much RNG)
Space stations, NPC factions, ressources and trade items (Privateer, X3, Avorion, E:D)
Basic relations and politics, persistent universe, tech tree (Stellaris, CIV)
Huge tech tree (Space Empires V)
NPC AI autism, rioting ship crews, insane ship crews (Rimworld)
Big ship building like Starmade, Avorion,
plus ship interior like i Spengies,
and as said ship mechanics, systems are essential, like in FTL/Spengies.
Medical system, drugs, mental states, cyborgs, bionic parts, both for the player avatar and NPC's (System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Rimworld, SS13)
Switching between nano-, micro-, makro-, and Examanagement (system autism like CHODE with programming to Empire ruling like Stellaris /CIV, Dorf Fort). Also see Avorion: Zoomed in: 3rd person, zoomed out: RTS iso view for future fleet management.
If someone does not want to micro/macro something it should run simplified by the AI. If you do custom stuff, it should get benifits, buffs.

I know, I know. But a man can still dream?

Semi to fully confirmed, based on how it works out in gameplay. (As long as you're not custom tweaking shit like the calibre and exactly what angle your fragmentation is, remember it needs to be not awful to play against other people. Fun , decent gameplay involving skill of building and using your craft is the goal. Cheesing shit until everything breaks is FUNNY, but only if you're on the producing end of it. Otherwise its just exhausting. See: FTD community submitted shit.)

As long as its not the standard multiplayer, no amount of clandestine shit is needed. Custom servers are fine in the future when we have our shit together. Right now is cloud tier nonsense, but its 90% p2p.

The first would be kinda needed (after all, there is a reason why don't we use 30 mm for every autocannon, .45 for every handgun and 120mm for everything that is bigger than 30mm), the second would be a consequence of the choices in design rather than a slider a-la FtD (and even then if you set the shrapnel angle to 0 you just made a EFP rather than the FtD cheese)

REMshill here.
If you don't stop asking for single player modes I am going to hunt you the fuck down and hang you from your innards. I don't want that. Nobody that wants REM wants that. It's fucking retarded. Sandboxes are a fucking cancer and they miss the entire point; it's supposed to be a fucking GAME. I want ranked matchmaking. I want currency. I want clan wars. I want a meta to master. All while having comprehensive materials and ballistics engineering aspects, which it has already successfully implemented. Stop asking for open worlds. Stop asking for shit that is pointless outside of a short-duration multiplayer context. Stop being a literal fucking faggot. I want my perfect tank-plane-spacefighter competitive game and you are not going to ruin this for me.

Also one of the guys who got killed in Benghazi was in fact a high ranking Goonfleet officer. They had many of them and a jobs pipeline for SA users.

You'll get our best shot with an earnest effort.

Love you man, but threats of violence aint cool. Our primary focus will always be what we said it was first, the autistic little multiplayer nonsense, then we'll listen/focus on input and suggestions that stray from that. Our skin is thick enough to withstand shitposting, for the most part.

Drills are in that way so you can look where you are mining and switch between left mouse mining or right mouse to open paths, and it has thrusters in all directions so you dont worry to drift away or start to fall if you are upside down and full, this also help to avoid unwanted crashes.
you also need a quary cargo truck.
>leave truck nearby
>batteries charged on the miner last 20 minutes
>have switches to use 1/4 of the thrusters at the start, and then another quarter untill its full, and all thrusters are on
>fill the miner and offload into the truck
>repeat untill batteries are almost gone
>go back to it and recharge since the truck has more batteries for that purpose
>repeat untill cargo truck is full of ores
>wait untill stone is totally droped and do a last mine
>dock it and back to base
>use the miner thrusters if you have a hard time pushing it in some mountains
>go back to your base rolling for energy saving

So after a long and unsatisfying struggle against gravity, I decided to trash the whole project and started fresh on a map without structural integrity, because I felt like it severely hampered my artistic freedom.

I also revised my plans and started fucking around with the voxel hands. My current plan is to build a garrison tower(finished), some farmland beneath the mountain (in progress), a main Keep of stone, and a secondary holdfast made of dark rock, and partially hewn into the mountainside.

Also I built parts of the long stair again since I liked the idea.

It seems Trinium is the best for a generator

What about "best" material for things like Hangars, or Armor, Integrity Fields Thrusters/Engine.

The wiki currently lists for some blocks the best material to use them with. For blocks that don't increase performance with better materials, you want to use the lightest material.

I can understand the early days when you had to dump everything into the .jar, but now?
Most of the conflicts could be prevented if you take the time to read the instructions. Install as you're told to and at least read the tooltips that appear over the buttons of the mod's gui or config. There are even plenty of mods that help you resolve or mitigate the conflicts that do arise.

Im not REManon but i have to say this
>What I want is easy
There are entire games focused on a single aspect or a few among those you mentioned that might as well not going to be finished in this decade
But more importantly, a game with even half of that, with that level of complexity is so beyond the point of enjoyment for any normal or semi-autistic human being that i almost believe you want a game were you can hide from life beyond Mariana trench depth or worse, you are actually screwing with the guy in some way, which i find unlikely, Im amazed by it by but part of me does believe that you indeed want this.

You are indeed correct that it would be impossible, but in regards to difficulty, i would argue AI, Gas and fluid dynamics would be the harder to implement, but none of this would come even close to the balancing effort necessary to make sure a constant or scaling challenge is present, not to mention whith so much layers of player input, a lot of the features will get overlooked, or in the worst case, a metagame develops which trivialized 90% of the players option, which is basically a shortcut to the interesting content.

The prevailing meta for Factorio for anyone who's played it enough is basically to build a factory as efficiently as possible while leaving enough space for everything, right?

What if, for a challenge, you could build along only along some specific rules? Like, for example, no belt can be longer than X tiles, you can build belts only in Y long segments with an alternating 90° turn after each, no bots, obviously, there can't be more than 4 cubic tiles of unused, useless space between any artificial structure, etc.

I must have some kind of weird infatuation with fractals.

Tell me /egg/, does Firely get good?

First episode is awkward and full of cheap as fuck props and all the characters are assholes.

The only thing that was mildy interesting were the "Reavers" and how they fly around in fucked up orky madmax ships with no reactor core shielding irradiating themselves. And they arent even cool aliens or anything? Just fucking cannibal space hillbillys?

Does the series get gud later one

>only got one season and a made for TV movie

Im guessing its stays "meh"?

>why should one use speed modules
One shouldn't.
Every time someone claims it's more compact, remind them that when using solar, 1 MW worth of power (assuming a 100:84 solar panel:accumulator ratio) takes up nearly 300 tiles.
Anyone claiming that speed modules are good outside of mines/pumpjacks are for the most part retarded, and haven't really considered the implications of using them.
The same goes for electric furnaces, which are almost universally inferior compared to the patriarch-tier steel furnaces.

Electric furnaces are totally viable if you're going for 100% solar - which takes up a fuckton of resources and space in the first place - or have absolutely no coal. Even then, you can make solids from oil, so you would have to have almost no oil and absolutely no coal to prefer electric furnaces, and therefore solars (and you need oil to make batteries and plastics anyway)
When using nuclear power, though, that's an entirely different matter.
>>
>>168781998
>ruined by SJW shit
You what?
>>
>>168782019
>Electric furnaces are nearly on par with steel furnaces if you're sinking vast amount of resources and lebensraum into solar power
We disagree on the fundamental meaning of 'viable'.
Compared to a steel furnace, an electric furnace is larger, more expensive, and unless power by solar, the effective fuel consumption is even higher.
If solar power is used, the increased expense and footprint is amplified even further.

The sole merit of electric furnaces is that they can interact with modules, which is another expense on top of the solar power and their inherently larger footprint.
That they don't require fuel is just a minor convenience bonus. In short, electric furnaces are elf-tier.
>>
>>168782795
No shit.
I'm saying that they're completely unviable outside of fringe situations. They're a terrible idea on a Hellworld map. Hell, especially on a Hellworld map. I use only glorious steel furnaces with triple belts and a 5:1 ore to coal ratio. They're industrious as fuck.
I might consider using electric furnaces if I'm low on combustibles and have like five separate 50MW nuclear plants just laying around, but not otherwise.

That's literally how half the space aviations and experimental launches go. There were more on-pad launch aborts than launchers as far as the shuttle program goes. It's a miracle that SpaceX has risen to such a high success ratio so fast.

i drew influence from castle pyke and Barad Dur in that matter, I like the mixing of different fortifiactions/towers, as a sign of it being repaired and rebuilt throughout the ages by different architectural styles.
also the little building on the huge tower is the rooftop entrance to the stairhouse.
