Sometimes i forget that heroes have canon personalities and just think they behave like the players. And it's still not far from canon. Reaper is a little bitch that tries too hard, Sombra is useless, Mercy royally fucks up trying to revive someone, Tracer is annoying, D.Va is sort of there, etc.

Not quite. Some files are in well known formats that can be read by any old program. In some older games, "data mining" is no more than opening the files on notepad or extracting with WinRar and scanning them for relevant info.

However, some files are either in unusual formats that only the game executable "knows" read or they are straight up encrypted.
