Looking to get into racing sims (Dirt, Forza, Project Cars, etc.)

I want the full on manual experience when driving, so im looking for a wheel, a set of pedals, and a shifter.

My platform is Xbone/PC.

I am considering getting the following:

Get Project Cars if you want nice eye candy but questionable physics and tyre modeling, get Assetto Corsa if you want quality physics but you don't mind the graphic fidelity suffering a bit.

Honestly the official Assetto Corsa content is pretty damn good looking in addition to having fantastic physics. Also Assetto has mod support and PCars has no mod support.

Nah, but the Viggen can fight some aircraft because of how powerful its engine is in stage 3 afterburner.

For example, if you fly smartly and to the Viggen's strengths you can kill an F-5 pretty easily.

That said the Viggen's strike capability is too good to not take advantage of.

Yes.

Mainly because of all the different release modes available and the complex navigation system that's specifically designed with strike in mind.

Sure the Su-27 CAN do a strike mission, but it won't be able to do it as well as the Viggen can due the Viggen literally being designed from the ground up for that role. The Viggen has pop up waypoints, multiple bomb release modes, ground radar, radar fixes, etc. Not to mention the Su-27S we have in game has nothing like the BK90 or anti-ship missiles.

Not to mention the Viggen will be far more aesthetic whilst doing it.

Well aside from lacking the range those aircraft have, the F-111 actually had a similar design goal to the Viggen, albeit the Aardvark's main role wasn't to stop a Russian invasion fleet from reaching the coast, it was to deliver a nuclear weapon by flying below the radar of the Soviets.

That said, I'd say while they're quite different in their design philosophy, they're probably about as equally capable in delivering dumb munitions via low altitude insertion. Where they differ is the F-111's capability to delivery smart munitions like LGBs etc. I'm sure if the Swedes had nukes, they would've considered using the Viggen for a similar role to the planned role of the F-111 in a nuclear conflict.

Admittedly, I don't know all that much about the A-6, only that it was developed as an all weather strike aircraft for the Navy. Aside from being slower than the Viggen, the A-6 has a more complex sensor suite, and because the load of handling those sensors is offloaded to the WSO, it's probably much more effective in using those sensors than the Viggen could ever be.

I believe Razbam plan on adding an A-6 eventually as far as I know.

The Viggen is definitely a product of its time, but its a damn complex and sophisticated one. It has its quirks, but once you start getting to learn it, its incredible what they were capable of back in the late 1960s using the first integrated circuits and other such technological breakthroughs at the time.
