So unless you're playing a very specific aggro deck (basically blood) or Seraph/Dshift mirror, there's no good reason to go first.
Even aggro sword or aggro shadow want an extra evolution point.

If I beat Daria at all, it's because they went first. Period. Doesn't matter if they curve Levi and Daria perfectly. The ability to evolve first is absolutely essential.
I feel like I'm late to the party noticing this, but I thought the expansion was to introduce 5 pp cards with strong evo effects to give first turn a slight edge.

because that's the kind of thing what reminds me of ygo powercreep. it's not just strength. it's the fact that will get faster and give more resources (plus) that makes it powercreep.
in ygo it went as far as making everything pretty much happen in turn one.

you know it'll be too late once every card has 3-4 effects and single cards can perform the functions of a whole deck in the old format.

cards like d-shift really worry me, not because it's all that strong, but because they show that the devs have no good understanding of resource management. not even ygo went as far as making a card that straight up says that you get to have another turn, which is GOD KNOWS how much plus.
it's still alright now since i'm used to worse, but still worrying.
