I've wondered this myself. On one hand just like in every modding community there are people who are obsessed with credit because they feel that they need the social mileage.

On the other hand there's far more examples of modders who just share their stuff without caring about things like that. The faggots who password everything just tend to stick out like sore thumbs. The public uploader is the best example of this. Many mods that have been uploaded to it don't ask for credit, have rules for distribution, and sometimes don't even include the author's name in the readme file.

I guess the reason why there isn't a Nexus-like site is because public getuploaders allow Japanese to share files anonymously without the need for a site and they have a search to boot.

I do remember mod database sites being setup for 3D Custom Girl but it was more towards the end of the game's lifespan. Still useful, but prior to that something like 4,000 mods were just being hosted on its uppervolta.

I made use of google translate and a program called Capture2Text and made a program that translates text in a window on your PC to some other language. If you don't like it you can always mod it yourself. Toon textures are really easy, as it's just a horizontal gradient with 1 pixel height, you name them as the default skin ones (ie toonskin, toonface and their _shadow variants), save as png, convert to tex and you're done.
