I want to get locked in an airtight school and fix her with hope. One night, she silently sneaks over to the kitchen. A shining sliver of a blade extends from her clenched fist when she walks into my room. But her hand stops, centimeters away from my chest, and begins to shake violently. Something is wrong. One by one, her trembling fingers let go of the hilt, and with a soft thud, the knife falls onto the carpet. She throws herself on me and buries her face right where the knife should have gone, Clutching at the fabric of my clothes. Her whole body shakes feverishly and I scoop her body into my arms and tell her that everything will be okay, just like usual. Her silent sobbing turns to wailing that echoes out into the dimly lit corridors beyond the door.

She would finally be cured of despair. Because the only thing she can't analyze is love

Mostly on the mark. The survivors have basically 3 options given to them.

1: Choose Hope: This will force one of them to take part in the next season, which is what happened to Amami 2 times in a row.

2: Choose Despair: They live inside the school for the rest of their lives.

3: Choose neither: They're dead.

Ki-Bo, who acts as a second camera to Monokuma (in reality Monoichi, a sixth cub), decides to blow the place up when they choose neither, allowing Saihara, Harumaki and Himiko to escape.

There's also tons of clues laid throughout the game that suggest that things aren't what they seem, but that won't be confirmed for a long while right now.

Saihara took on the audience who took control of Kibo. And Tsumugi was likely lying about at least a few things. Based on the prologue, their personalities seem at least similar to their game selves and it looks like they didn't volunteer, but were kidnapped. And what you find in Saihara's lab hints that the game didn't used to have real deaths until recent games.

You've been growing attached to Tsumugi the whole game, and you probably consider her a friend at this point. The references she makes to nerdy things are likely endearing to a lot of people, reminding them of Chikai. Sure, you always suspect her of murder because of her talent, but you're proven wrong every time. So you probably do one or two of her FTEs, and grow attached.

So it must feel like an absolute betrayal that in Chapter 6, the friend that was at your side all along is the mastermind. And not "i had an alternate personality that was the mastermind", SHE was the mastermind all along. Your friend was leading you along the whole time and then she reveals that she was actually enjoying seeing you all get killed because this is her favorite show. So you feel more than a little betrayed, angry, and probably sad.

Even after she reveals herself to be a pretty horrible person, you can't help but feel sad that the Tsumugi - that once was your friend - dies in such a crushing way.

Tsumugi's problem, from what I can see, is that she doesn't get much spotlight in the main story up until the reveal. She never plays a big role in the cases (Or at least ones that Climax Reasoning worthy), and she's the only one of the final 5 not to get into any shipping antics.

If they devoted more time to her relationship with the gang, and maybe even make her a trial point getter, the impact of her betrayal might have worked way better.

You know, while I do agree that this was likely the intention with her and she does talk like a genuine otaku, Ouma was definitely a major thorn in the side here.

Not only was he much better at stealing the limelight, Ouma created a lot of mystery and curiosity behind his contradictory actions and lies that kept people interested in his character. He was unpredictable and with every move he pulls he keeps you on your feet, making you wonder what he's going to do next.

Meanwhile Shirogane is just there quoting lines from shows and just not leaving an impact or much of a reason to care for her, since Ouma for all his antagonism did care enough about everyone to want to help them and in his final moments crashed her script by forcing her to execute Kaito instead of Maki, which in turn caused Kiibo's antenna to get broken.

Whether or not Ouma was meant to be the distraction so Shirogane wouldn't be noticed, I feel he just shone so much more as he made the story work organically and switched plans on the fly, while Shirogane gets livid when people go astray of her scripts and even her knowledge of many series still gets overshadowed by how the characters she (Allegedly) designed all stood out more than her because she's just not willing to let go of the Dangan Ronpa formula, forgetting that what makes it shine is the characters and the tribulations they're put through.

The fact that she didn't care that people died for this while Ouma did really seals it in my opinion, it's like watching two big DR fans arguing about what makes Dangan Ronpa shine as a series and I'd say it's obvious who won.

Yeah, the only thing that made Junko's reveal have so much of an impact was that she did intentionally want everyone to solve the mystery of the school to inflict them with despair when they find out the truth.

With Shirogane it's more of a "Uh, okay?" kind of deal for the player unlike Junko who's somehow more of a reliable narrator here in spite of how crazy she is.

But they are not, and so they all can die for the bright future of Togami family. V3 survivors embrace their normie selves, tell Togami to go fuck himself and he dies probably from falling from a huge height.

I'm assuming that she'll take part in the game. In that case she'd just be her usual nice self and might even spearhed the trials as a point-getter.

Novoselic has taken over the world in this universe, and she is in actuality, the SHSL Queen instead of Princess.

The killing games are for rowdy commoners who dare question her rule. The V3 cast was an underground group that has come very close to overthrowing her, and she was so intrigued by their resilience that she joined the game herself to monitor their hope.

She believes that a world filled with false hope will lead to world peace, and the final PTA has you jam it into her head that you need an equal amount of despair as well to keep it afloat.

She then eats the poison apple and dies.

Shitty, I know, but it's something.

Iruma is the new and improved final mastermind like I predicted the second I saw her design

Iruma is a Junko clone - but something got fucked up along the way so instead of being a fashionista she's an inventor. She, in true Junko fashion, got everyone together for the killing game (robots in prologue were her doing) and did the whole normie brainwashing. However, somehow that happened to her too and she lost all memory relating to Junko and got fake memories about her being an inventor put in.

She's basically Junko without despair for the first, like, 5 chapters. However, at the end of Chapter 5 (or 4, or something), she gets her Junko memories back and realizes she's the mastermind. And she's perfectly okay with that since she gets her despair fetish back.

She probably dies by nanomachines eating her from the inside out

My last case is gonna be Kaede murdering someone and having a very intense trial against Saihara. At some point, you have to choose Lies Route (Kaede) and lie a lot to get everyone vote for Saihara, or Truth Route (Saihara) and try to convince everyone that Kaede is a culpit. If you beat the Lies Route, everyone gets executed, except for Kaede and the last person who just escapes their execution: the mastermind, probably Amami.

Boy, the Ultimate Despairs were pretty lacklustre in their designs from what we saw of DR3. I guess I was expecting some sort of major change or messed up disfigurements or something, but with the exception of Saionji (for obvious reasons), they're pretty much incidental to their non-despair versions.
