why do I get massive frame rate drops during battles in Gekokujo and Gekokujo only?

No problems whatsoever in native and other mods like Swedish Mayo even in bigger battles, so it's not specs or graphics/battle size

it's only battles too -- everything else up to and including the units marching up to fight runs smooth as silk, but when they initiate combat it just drops fast

it's because firearms in caribbean (and some mods, such as NW though in NW pistols use the firearms slot) use the crossbow slot, which supports vertex animation
there's also a .ini setting that changes crossbows to act as firearms, which is why guns in these mods don't need a script effect for sound/smoke
the firearms slot (which is used by firearms in some mods such as native or geko) does not

this is part of it, firearms is kind of "incomplete" functionally in comparison to crossbows due to lacking these features, it also scales with proficiency for not only accuracy and load speed but damage

i split them into separate meshes and did the old slow way of making vertex animated meshes
took a while too because i wanted to make sure all the parts line up how they're supposed to in a flintlock/wheellock/snaplock/matchlock mechanism

I have a friend who has an issue with Gekokujo. He is trying to lead lords as marshall, but all the lords say their marshall is currently indisposed. We know this is a problem with Freelancer, but is there a way to edit the save game file or something with the M&B Warband Save Game Editor and Converter so that this is fixed? Mildly important: he offered a <$15 steam game if I could fix it.

4.0 works fine on my machine :)
Player custom troops in age VII sometimes won't work properly. Cannon and artillery system is shit. The cannoneers sometime spawned outside the map.The traits UI sometimes glitched out if you have so many vassals.
Apart from these issues, most the features are working as intended.

The problem is this shit is by no means a WELL MADE mod. Yes, troops and trees are great, map is detailed and scenes are beyond any praise. But the gameplay - you play a game for its gameplay, right? - is completely nonexistent. Diplomacy is frozen, lance breaking is, well, completely broken, and losing 2 INT because you didnt investigate the suspicious bushes is literally a spit in your face. It is like a very beautiful and comfy car which cannot move. Why would you need a car which will not get you anywhere, even if it's stunning visually?
I just wish that taleworlds employ acok's scene maker(s), as it is the only thing ACOK is worth downloading for.
