I want to get locked in an airtight school and fix her with hope. One by one, her trembling fingers let go of the hilt, and with a soft thud, the knife falls onto the carpet. She throws herself on me and buries her face right where the knife should have gone, Clutching at the fabric of my clothes. Her whole body shakes feverishly and I scoop her body into my arms and tell her that everything will be okay, just like usual. I really was kind of hoping for a case that involved NG codes. It could've made for more interesting motives (especially if characters like Maki, Ouma and Amami had ones that would force them to reveal something potentially dangerous about themselves) . I just noticed, but Saihara got a pretty good deal when it came to his wingmen in trials.

Makoto lost his left wingman before the first trial, and was stuck sitting next to Hifumi's ugly mug for a third of the game.

Hajimeme got off a little better with Mahiru and Hiyoko, but they still both kicked the bucket before the game was even halfway done.

Saihara gets his best bro Momota on the left, and Iruma on his right, and it isn't until chapter 4 when one of them is axed. Even in chapter 5, Robota sits next to him sometimes.

Not a bad deal, really.

It would because something like this definitely has to be more than just reality TV given the apparent 3 year gap between Amami's game and this one, and the fact that these games are intentionally rigged to the extreme makes it more likely that they're indeed getting rid of dissenters seeing how much the mastermind wanted to get rid of Maki in chapter 5 and leave two relatively useless people in the end. Looking at this too I'm inclined to believe that Amami managed to get to the end not just by cunning but by pure luck, again invalidating the notion that SHSLs don't exist in spirit.

I don't think it's by coincidence that you have someone incredibly dangerous who also values life as an absolute like Ouma running around in this game, we already know from what Amami says to be cautious of what the narrative is trying to trick us into thinking at the end but it's really Ouma who by his many misdirections and lies trains you into slowly realizing that it's an incredibly dangerous thing to speak the truth and stand against everyone else, something which most likely got him thrown into this killing game an ultimately being subjected to a horrible fate.
