The training tower already costs 9 at max level and sometimes drops an item you need 20 of to limit break one character. It's going to cost 18 and sometimes drop an item to limit break one character. Tiki can counter from range and seems to have a large hp pool, so she could take a few hits and be somewhat effective in that regard.
That said, Effie has some surprising utility with her support skill, being able to push allies 2 squares away. Remember that the ally can also move afterwards.
Other than that, cavalry would be your best bet for mages and archers.

Going 2 red and 2 blue wouldn't be bad, though you'd have to watch out for enemy blues.
