Personally I only thought he needed a health buff, but light and special light damage is nice too.

The Samurai spent every day of their lives practicing kenjutsu, the term for all schools of sword discipline in Japanese culture, and if they weren't a swordsman, they would dedicate their days to archery, hand to hand combat or some other form of fighting. They dedicated all their time to becoming a master of killing people using a certain weapon. That makes for a highly skilled soldier. If you want to see how "crap" a katana is, google it versus a knights longsword irl. The katana fucking destroys everything unlike the broadsword which struggles in comparison. Can't remember how it'd do against full steel plate armour (although I think it still managed to pierce that) but being incredibly skilled with the weapon, a samurai would target the knee, arm, shoulder and neck joints when fighting and would have a speed advantage over the knight, not to mention superior reflexes. For an unskilled warrior, back the guy who has the steel, but for a warrior of any skill, as any self-respecting samurai at war would be, they'd be the one to back. Knights were strong opponents but they were largely noblemen (plate wasn't cheap), fighting for glory and advancement under a liege lord. They trained sure but nowhere near to the same level of commitment as a samurai. You had to be strong to fight in what was incredibly heavy sets of armour (if you've ever worn some, you'll know it's no picnic moving around, let alone fighting in them). Without the training that samurai lived for though, they'd likely be victims of overconfidence facing a lightly armoured opponent unless they too had experience fighting them or enough training to realise a skilled opponent when they saw one. A real oversight is that knights in full plate armour were often horsemen rather than footmen. Horse gave them greater mobility instead of having to be a man mountain to get about the battlefield.

They did come from the harshest land but most were in fact farmers and labourers in addition to being worthy fighters, many blessed with great cunning. A samurai also lives by the Bushido code, a code of honour. The Vikings were criminal by comparison and so were not above cheating, backstabbing or fighting dirty to win. The Knights would be full of bluster about God etc. but they'd do anything to win as well, then claim God gave them victory in the face of the unbelievers or some such nonsense. Point is, the Vikings were the craftiest of the bunch (although samurai weren't above an ambush). The Samurai were the best individual warriors, from their dedication to mastering the arts of war. You spend every day practicing and with enough time, your reflexes are far beyond other people and you understand how to read opponents better. Makes you a better fighter overall and given they had the best weapons of these opponents (the katana was the best weapon technology wise. Designed to end an opponent in as few moves as possible and had a long reach, not to mention incredibly sharp [we're talking minimum effort required to behead someone compared to the other weapons]). The Knights had the best protection but would have been the slowest of the three fighters and the most laboured whenever they tried to fight. You could outlast a knight and then he'd be a much easier kill.

The Vikings were reasonably skilled warriors but the worst equipment (then again, through raiding they would have acquired a lot, but I've never known a viking in full steel plate. Too slow to fight in they'd probably say. I give them a lot of props for being innovative in their shipbuilding but their style of fighting was less horned helmets (vikings never had horns on their helmets) and rippling muscles, and more hit and run, attacking easily raided coastal villages and towns of innocent people, rather than castles full of knights. Samurai. Every day of the week. Just sharing my knowledge.

In the first one, Apollyon says the three factions fought each other for a thousand years over water or some shit. Just when they were about to consider a truce, she made things worse.

In the second trailer, she says that, even after the disaster hit, all three factions were at peace. Gameplay footage shows a Lawbringer saying that "she can't trigger war everywhere", as if war hadn't been a thing for a long time.

I considered that they
