Playing DH (with Edge of Darkness), my allies aren't doing shit. I'm at war with the Soviets, but Hungarian and Romanian troops are just sitting on the border doing nothing.

I know I can manually take control of them and fight, and I will if I have to, but I'd rather let my allies manage the southern front so I can focus in the north. Is there any way to fix the AI spacing out like this?

The secret of EU4 is to keep a quarter of your forcelimit in artillery + 4 cavalry at all times, and only build merc infantry in wartime. Take Administrative as your first idea group, and any others afterward with ideas/policies that have mercenary synergy (because the modifiers stack).

Play as Burgundy/Aragon/anyone else with merc-related national ideas, doing the above and tell me I'm wrong, I dare you.

You don't need 10 million, you just need enough cash on hand to be able to afford 3/4 or your forcelimit in merc infantry. The Admin ideas alone make them only 1.5x what normal infantry cost and only slightly more than that in upkeep. Combine that with Burgundian ideas and they're almost 1:1 with regular inf regiments.

In HPM is there an event that gets rid of the "international isolation" modifier you get from going over the infamy limit. I've won the containment wars declared on me and gotten the event that resets my infamy to 24.99 but I still have that modifier. You almost always wanna go with a diplomatic ideas first. Hopefully by the time you've hit your second idea group, your ahead in military tech and can afford to invest a significant amount of points into military ideas. And I find that if you take a military idea second, you can sometimes get away with investing Military points into manpower, which is always a bonus.

This is not a good rule of thumb to play by. On paper it sounds good as you have points for military tech that is cruicial early at levels 4 and 5 and for admin to get to the first idea group and for making cores.
In east Europe as a minor that shit doesn't turn out nice when you get shitted upon by Ottomans or Poland or any other big threat while you are at half of some diplo idea group that gives you nothing to defend with.

I think there's a glitch that can let an actual ruler inherit a revolt title. It happened to me once and I had to scrap the run because you can't declare war while holding a "temporary title", presumably to prevent revolt leaders from going to war with anyone other than their liege.
