It's not just the character models, it's everything from their writing to the quests they give you. Bethesda's approach to world building is quantity over quality: we must have a thousand NPCs and a thousand dungeons and a thousand quests. TW3 tries harder to make quests and characters more interesting and unique even if that means having less people to talk to and less shit to do. Which is fine by me, anyway.

It's the same with the actual world. Skyrim has a bunch of towns and cities which are all tiny and lifeless. Even the fucking capital has something like 15 or 20 buildings and there's rarely more than 10 NPCs on screen at any time. You can talk to every NPC and enter every building, but 95% of these people have absolutely nothing of interest to say. TW3 has a moderately big town and a massive fucking city that's more like a GTA city: most NPCs are only there to make it feel big and lively, and most doors are locked, but the handful of characters you can talk have actual writing behind them. I'll take the Novigrad philosophy, a city that looks, sounds, feels and breathes like an actual city, over Skyrim cities any day.

As someone who just finished doing every POI and sidequest in Touissant and Velen/Novigrad (only Skellige left).

How did you guys as genuine fans dealt with the empty feeling this game leaves after you realize there is nothing else like it?

I've been gaming ever since I was kid and last game that struck me even remotely like this was first Mass Effect.


Should I start NG+ immediately? Some other game? I got DOOM and Dying Light EE thinking it might help not to think about this game but they aren't doing it in slightest.

I also don't believe even Cyberpunk will scratch the its (even though it will probably be amazing game).

I also literally built my whole new rig for this. And for the first time ever (I'm 27). I thought about this empty feeling in advance (I started when I first hit Novigrad). From that point every progress I made in the game was savoured and enjoyed completely.

In the end it made it even worse, although I'm glad I got the Ciri witcher ending. It was really satisfying in a bitter sweet way and all devs (especially Bioware) should take notes on how ending to a fucking franchise spanning years is done.

Screwed my relationship with Triss and Yenn though. Figured Yenn was more canon choice but she felt so alien compared to Triss with which you actually already had relationship(s) spanning previous 2 games. It helped that Yen is super hot and well developed.

I genuinely feel Geralt would never be able to choose between the two as he probably harboured feelings for both for all the shit he went through with them.

I disagree, without his memories, Geralt was able to get to know Triss all over again, see her in a different light for the first time and genuinely fall in love with her. The way I play Geralt, once his memories returned, his new found love for Triss doesn't just go away, but his feelings for Yen also return and he is conflicted. He parts ways with Triss and goes to look for Yen, but after meeting them both, he realizes what he had with Triss meant more than he imagined and decides to go with her. Their romance spans three games and is very nicely done.

I read the books, but for me, they shouldn't signify the end of character development for Geralt, he might as well changed his perspective due to the events of the first two games. For me it's books + TW1 + TW2 + TW3, not just books + TW3.

Everyone is free to play the game how they choose, but for me Triss romance is my favorite side story of the games.

Well, as I'm sure someone will point out, I do have a bit of a reputation of being an obnoxious waifufag here, which is correct desu, but I do think both ladies are amazing and both have their pros and cons. I completed the game with both romances, but I just happen to really like Triss and Geralt as a couple, their chemistry, how they act around each other and so on...

I enjoy its cheesiness and seeing Geralt act all lovey dovey, but his relationship with Yen is also excellent and no one can deny they have some amazing banters and understanding of each other. I say let people choose and enjoy what they like, CDPR put choices in the game for a reason, we can all craft our own story.

Well, Geralt has a long history with Yennefer and due to her absence from the previous games, TW3 tries to get players with no prior knowledge of the story to see that. Also their love is a very important part of the books, so it very well deserves its famous status and quality representation in game. I could never deny what Yen and Geralt had was special.

About NPC's, I don't really care about their opinion and there are also NPC's that bitch about Yen, like you said, Eskel and Lambert, Vesemir also, Dijkstra tries to ship Geralt hard with Triss and Cerys' comments can be taken either way, there is that random peasant you first meet in Skellige telling you how awful Yen treats everyone, even Ciri acts distrustful of her and mentions her having plans, but those things are kind of irrelevant to me anyway. I prefer to make a decision based on Geralt interactions with a woman he chooses rather than what NPC's feel about it.

For Ciri, it is very understandable to be surprised about Geralt and Triss, but she is a grown up and accepts Geralt's choice either way. Also I quite like the way Geralt talks about his relationship with Triss to Ciri, with him finally feeling how things are just the way they are suppose to be and how he found harmony with Triss.

I wouldn't call the kiss after you bring Ciri back to KM flirty, Yen is just overwhelmed by emotions and it's not like Geralt reciprocates passionately, he just stand there motionless. Plus, I like Triss' jelly reaction and other than that there are no flirting with Yen after you tell her that the magic's gone, at least I never picked any dialogue that leads to that.

If you do pick Triss, Geralt expresses how happy she makes him feel several times and they get some pretty great scenes together. I also prefer her ending with them having two houses and Geralt taking an occasional job. Either way, do what you feel is best.

For that shot, just the Storyboard UI mod. Look it up, there is an extensive tutorial on Nexus, like I said, it can be a bit tedious until you figure out the controls and animations you want to use, but it's not too complicated, it just takes a bit of patience. Of course I use console enabler too and for some shots Triss Companion mod.

Okay, there's one thing I don't really get about the whole story of Geralt dying to the pitchfork guy:

A lot of Triss haters use "she manipulated Geralt while he had amnesia, to take her friend's lover" argument, but...

I mean, wasn't Yen considered to be dead? There was a massacre in Rivia, Geralt got stabbed by some dude with a pitchfork, Yen "died" trying to use magic to save him, The Wild Hunt took her away and she wasn't seen for some time, Geralt exchanged his soul for hers, somehow he escaped from the Hunt, both got amnesia, Yen recovered, Letho and the others took care of her for a while, and then she left and never contacted Geralt again until TW3.

Did Triss even know Yen was alive? I mean, she wasn't there at Rivia and she wasn't involved in Geralt's pursue after the Wild Hunt to take Yen back, right? And Yen didn't contact her while she was away, right? Didn't Triss just think Yen was dead or missing? How could she even know Yen was alive?

But if Geralt is alive, there is a reasonable doubt Yen might also be, but what people fail to mention is that Triss did try talking about the past with Geralt in the beginning of TW1, but he refused(pic related). However, Triss could have been more insistent on it once Geralt started showing interest in her, but she instead accepted his advances and started a relationship with him which is selfish, but understandable considering Triss loved Geralt for years.

Also she encourages Geralt to make his own decisions and form a personality outside of her influence in TW1 so that his memory can start returning on its own, which eventually happens and there is even a line of dialogue in BaW where Geralt tells Regis that Triss helped him get his memory back. Another thing is that once Geralt remembered Yen being alive too in TW2, Triss offers her unconditional help in finding her.

TW1 was clearly designed without Yen or Ciri in mind, no one mentions them and you even have scenes where Geralt explicitly asks Dandelion who was there when he died and Dandelion lies to him for no apparent reason and mentions Cahir, Milva and Angouleme who were you know what at the time and not Yen nor Ciri which is preposterous.
