I believe if you want to update to the latest patch, which is origin exclusive, then yes (you shouldn't want to though). Otherwise, I think everything can be done through the launcher.

Get 4. I was hesitant about getting 4 after playing 3, but it was completely worth it. Everything seems to be much improved, despite some content being cut out but it's there are always updates.

I haven't played it a whole lot really but it's running fine so far. With windows you can run things in compatibility mode with older versions.

Right after you install it the game has to load up all the extra stuff the expansions add. Back when it was just Sims 1 it would take forever and I always thought it was because of the computer but even on a newer better computer it still takes time. And it has to do it for all eight neighborhoods.

The only issue I've had is running it in windowed mode brings up a black box that blocks the game (which didn't happen when I tried to run it on my old laptop a couple years ago). The game still runs behind it but I can't see whats going on so I have to run it full screen.

I might be getting a little to excited here, but my goal to maximize Forgotten Hallows immersion might actually work. No more hot pinks and blues in outfits. All the sims Ill see will match and blend in well with the style of Forgotten Hallows.

Both. It had a main story with objectives for each house you moved into or you could just go right into free-play. They also had multiplayer which was the big draw to it for me back then. I had played Sims 1 & Sims Online on the PC, but even Sims 1 on GC/PS2 was a big improvement for graphics.

One of the early houses is filled with garbage and broken appliances, your goal is to fix the place up, while balancing your work schedule and needs. There's no time limits, but you can unlock extra furniture for finishing each set of goals quickly.

You don't even HAVE to go with your sim if it's multiple sims' day off.

Apperently my MC commander does not allow for zero homeless sims, I set it to 1 and so far so good. But everytime I edit that 1 homeless sim that was spawned, it spawns another. Preeeetty dumn.

Showtime is pretty bloaty. I believe it's similar as Pets in which it spawns more homeless townies causing more unnecessary resources being wasted. It's really one of the more least desired expacs.

If you edit it them on the fly with MCC they'll be temporarily flagged as played and lose their NPC only jobs (mixologist, gym trainer, etc). That forces the game to create a new townie to fill in the gap.

If you wanna edit a NPC you have to do it through the household panel on the world management screen.

One more thing, try not to change the townies age and sex, because it might mess up the census ratio and trigger a spawn as.

I had that problem a lot too, that's how I know.

3 didnt have a set art direction. maxis confirmed it. so it looks like a hot mess with styles clashing all the time. Dont get me wrong, the gameplay is fun because a lot of shit is to do there now (because its done). but I fucking hated how sims in 3 looked, potato faced monsters. Even CC couldnt fix it.

I guess it depends on what you prefer in the end.

I somehow got a sim impregnated by a plumbot.

The offspring is currently in the child stage. Not even halfways through and she already got 5 logic.
