Sombra's gun is basically a hitscan cone, knowing how to direct a cone to get the most damage depending on range (<5m head, 5-10m upper chest / neck, >10m center mass) and of course target size (tanks will soak up all your bullets, skinny supports and DPS will take less damage overall) will get the most out of it.

That was also covered with the "he does too much that nobody else can do" section. Choke points and defenses are literally designed with his shield in mind making him a fucking must have, which is very shit.

Remodel maps to not be rein shield size chokes, remove him or add more ways to deal with defense in chokes.

The simplest solution is removing rein, the hardest is remaking maps and the second easiest is bring in another character but that doesn't really solve that problem.

Her beam is 190dps at max IIRC. It also boosts the area and damage of alt-fire too, there's a sweet spot where you can launch a pulse at an enemy and while it's on its way switch to beam, it's actually pretty good burst damage.

Blizzard fixed the beam so it 'ticks' more consistently a little while back, it used to be pretty flakey about doing damage, especially against fast and small targets.

If you're just doing her "hack medpack/translocator/stealth/attack/translocate" loop you won't carry. If Symmetra is a defensive "support", Sombra is an OFFENSIVE "support". Deny healthpacks tha enemies would usually be going to use. Keep ones near your allies up so that you can give them speedy healthpack recovery (also contributes to your ult charge). ONLY try to get kills on either out of place enemies (such as those gunning for your hacked hp packs) or those you can see with your passive. Even then, soldier and Junkrat could fuck you up.

Hack people that overextend. It now takes less than a second, so you can hack that tank that ran a bit too far forward or that tunnel visioned DPS relatively easily. After that, you and your team should be able to capitalise on the hack. Ult only to deny enemy engages, such as a Zarya ult from them (if you can translocate out and get behind their follow up) or as the second major CC in the fight (hopefully cancelling a lucio ult in the process). I wouldn't recommend it as the first since the hack lasts 6 seconds and if they have ults up after that your team may get wasted if they didn't get many kills. Wait for a Hammer Down from your Rein or their Lucio to use Sound Barrier and shut them down.

Basically - she's not tracer or S76. She requires some more thought, like Symmetra. Abuse your hack ability and the fact that you can find and eliminate low targets. You'll see improvements.

Eliminations are awarded whenever an enemy that you've damaged dies, and the damage that you did to them contributed to that death (i.e. it wasn't healed away).
Whenever people talk about kills, this is usually actually the stat that they're referring to. It's displayed most prominently, tracked for performance medals, and treated basically the same as kills are in other games.
Even though most other games would almost always separate that into "kills" and "assists."

I'm not sure what you meant by "kills," but there's a statistic tracked called "final blows." This one shows up on the right-hand side of the Tab screen (middle pad button on PS4, probably select on Xbox), and isn't tracked for performance medals. "Final blows" are the same as regular kills in other games.
There's also another statistic that you might mean called "objective kills," which despite its different name still just tracks eliminations. Specifically, those that took place within a capture point or near a payload.
