"I went to the Six Invitational event and tried the operators in full-depth.
Mira (1 or 2 speed) has 2 windows she can place on walls. The windows are one-way (meaning you can't see through the window nor shoot the window out from the outside). The window has a small canister on the bottom of the window from the inside that you can shoot once to break open the window (or shoot with a twitch drone).
Jackal (not sure i think 2 speed) has a vision that he can activate to see green footsteps. If he aims at a footprint and holds "F", the position of the person's footstep will get pinged for Jackal's whole team. The ping gets updated every 20 or so seconds until the end of the round (or atleast for quite a while). The ping can only be used on 3 different occasions in one round.
As for the map, I can't really explain it. It's pretty much what you saw in the map teaser.

This is a direct implication that a vast majority of damage dealt in high level play is headshots - you are not being cheeky. You are putting out that Rook shouldn't be as prevalent because his armor provides zero protection against this "most optimal move" and, therefore, has little benefit. However he is prevalent and over represented in the stats relative to almost all other OPs. Why? Probably because headshots do not occur at a frequency where Rook would be useless.

You are also confusing the most OPTIMAL outcome with the most IDEAL outcome. The most optimal outcome is the outcome with the best odds of success. In real life, this is center mass. In Siege, this is the same thing. It's the largest target and has the benefit of your gun walking upwards into a headshot. In proleagues you see a lot of players not trying to get exclusively headshots, but just deal damage to whatever body part is available. A lot of those esports battles do come down to body damage, and Rook armor is obviously useful in these cases.

In many cases the head is the only thing that is available (peeking over/out of cover), and probably makes up a HUGE number of those headshot kills.

We don't have all the data, and it would be interesting to collect all of it actually, but the guys playing in Esports seem to think that Rook is valuable, and since your argument hinges solely on "people in eSports are wrong" - I'm going to trust them since they have the credentials and you don't.

I know many don't end, but rook's armor doesn't help that much. Doc himself is actually more valuable in terms of "extra HP", he's just extremely unpopular partially due to his inconsistency even in well-coordinated teams(which Rook armor does cover consistently) and because damage on every gun is still high enough that the extra heals won't give you a huge edge. I can see where you're coming from about picking him since they don't need another role, but I find intel to be more useful than a little extra health, and the semi-recent reduction of round time to 3 minutes gives defenders an extra edge. Many rounds end when time is almost up, and I think Echo's potential stalling power is more useful than an extra unit of armor, despite his speed and primary.

Castle is useful specifically due to the strict time limit. He's not going to be stopping anyone, but his barricades force enemies to consume very limited resources, and there's no way to quietly dispose of the barricades, with maybe the exception of Sledge.

Actually if you look at Doc mathematically, assuming all 3 syringes will be used to maximum effect, he wins out. But that requires operators to get injured and not die, and to do so enough to the point where you can heal them for the full amount - or make decisive syringe plays

But Doc really synergies incredibly well with Rook, since the likelihood they will enter a DBNO state increases and the more relative healing Doc will have if you manage to heal people BEFORE they enter a DBNO state (losing rooks armor)

The amount of times a self revive will be successful instead of being assassinated is also up for debate

But on a practical point of view, 9.9 times out of 10 you would take one or the other, you are just better off taking Rook.

Yeah, I think I have to agree with you there. The horizontal recoil can screw you over at long range sometimes, but overall Bearing is amazing.

The one aspect of Hibana's kit that falls short of Thermite's (in my opinion) is her lack of smoke grenades. Although having said that, now that Montagne is becoming a more popular pick, I guess you can just have him carry your smoke nades.

Yeah, they should probably nerf Hibana somehow, not sure how though. Maybe swap her claymore for breaches?

Role/Position: Where the operator is or acts when things start happening.
Attackers
Point Man- If you have one, they are the first ones that lead the charge. They usually have a shield to protect themselves and their team.
Entry Fragger- Second in line. They are the main attackers of the team. If there are no point men, they are the first in the attack.
Backliner- Usually in the back of the group, these operators hang back due to the nature and importance of their gadget. However once their gadget serves their purpose, they can move up with the entry fraggers.
Flanker- Usually with fast speed, flankers are operators who do not go with the main group. They take an alternate path to sneak up on the defending team.
Defenders
Point Defender- These operators strive by holding the objective.
Roamer- Usually with high speed and/or passive gadget. They roam around the map outside the objective to catch players who are along or to flank the main attacking team.
Hybrid- Can either play as a Point Defender or Roamer depending on the team composition.

Gadget Role: How the operator's gadget is used.
Breacher- Gadget that is used to break walls/barricades to get into the objective or open venues of attack
Disrupter- Gadget that is used to displace or suppress the enemy team. If they do not change or hold positions, they are open to attack.
Intel- Gadget that is used to gain information on the battlefield.
Area Denial- Gadget that is used to deny or slow down movement of enemy operators.
Trapper- Gadget that is used to kill or incapacitate the enemy.
Support- Gadget that is used to help your ally operators either directly or indirectly.
Gadget Type:
Active: These gadgets need the operator to be alive to function.
Passive: Once placed, these gadgets function even when the operator dies.
