Leveling as BM spec is the norm because it makes you so item-independent that you can basically level naked. I go for pic related. Aimed Shot is a good one to pick up later on.

Surv. hunters are pretty weak, but they can still level sort of well simply by virtue of being hunters. If you do go survival spec ABSOLUTELY get the +hit talent. It's called 'Surefooted' iirc.

It's honestly amazing just how shit the design of this game was in vanilla.

Aggro is screwy as fuck, things will literally aggro on you from miles away. Quest grind makes something tedious even more fucking tedious due to all the travel required, which is made more frustrating by said screwy aggro. The best part of it all? You can't even group up, because grouping up literally fucks you over on xp.

I have no idea how this game got so popular. Was it a later patch that made things better, or was it just the fact of the wow factor and a great marketing campaign?
