You really need to be doing something at the same time as tapping so you don't get bored. I always found events tedious until my lives were levelled fully and then it just becomes something you do every couple of hours. Unless you're going for rank in which case you need to be doing it a lot more but if you're only just starting, aim for points cards until your teams are stronger. There's always a chance the game might just not be for you, events are quite a commitment, you either sacrifice your sleep, your money or both.

The mangas are anthologies, it's more like an official fan works collection that's just barely evading anything that goes against official material.

But the anime feels very official and gave details on some characters or small new aspects to their personality that weren't in the game. I'd guess that they were at least partly working together with Nitro+, though I never looked it up.
I'm pretty sure that it's generally seen as official work, but at the same time they specified multiple times that it's just describing 'one particular honmaru' so that fans could still say that their own honmaru is different to the anime.

I'm in the middle of Kaguya route so Mahoutsukai is still a little ways away. Right now I only have vague theories on what might be happening. Although I found Cinderella's route somewhat disappointing, the other routes have been pretty interesting so far.

What was your problem with Cinderella's in particular? It was definitely the most typically otogeish route of the bunch but it had fun interactions and made for a good intro before the weirder routes.

I loved Kaguya's route. Easily the best use of fairy tale inspiration I've seen in otoge and Yurika is an absolute madman. As much as I enjoyed TaiAli the use of the fairy tales outside of Kaguya and the main Looking Glass theme wasn't really noteworthy. Gretel had something going with the sweets being drugs metaphor but the depiction was lacking.

Then maybe that was part of the problem for me; I played Akazukin's route first (which was delightful). Cinderella didn't appeal to me all that much and since it was mostly standard and straightforward, that left the banter to carry the route. Gretel turned out to be another enjoyable route though. Not only were there plenty of funny moments, but I also thought the story advanced in an interesting way.

Now I remember why I liked Julian so much. Hosoya didn't have nearly as many roles back then, and I think it was my first time hearing him. So I've done lots and lots of proofreading over the years, for many different people and many different styles, and that almost apprenticeship-type thing really helped me understand the best way to write. Sort of like playing ADC and Support, in vidya terms? I recommend getting a friend who's good at editing to look over your stuff. It might hurt to have them nitpick your translation, but it'll help you get a better feel for it as well.

Now, for the self-proofing process, never, ever be afraid to use your imagination and read things out loud. It'll reveal janky-sounding sentences and typos, and it'll also help you write in the character's voice better. It's almost an exercise in acting after a certain point, but writers who have good characters tend to become them for the moment anyway.

Honestly it's been a while since I've taken a stab at translating so I don't have anything on hand. I've been thinking about taking on a little project but had no confidence in doing so. Okay, I have to partially retract my statement I made earlier about Hosoya. I came across a new scene, another flashback, and it had plenty of Julian being distressed, but Hosoyan's voice was much, much deeper. It was quite jarring.
