I`ve done some tests of battle between imperials and stormcloaks.

I did some 20 battles of 100 vs 100, 10 of 1000 vs 1000 and plenty of smaller ones. Using both The basic soldiers, officers, mages, and dedicated archers.

I removed Ulfric because he made it all crash by shouting everyone to oblivion.

I got nearly always a Stormcloak win unless the stormcloaks got stuck not moving.

Why does the empire with magic, better armor and more diversity always lose to the Stormcloaks made mostly of two handers and blade and shield?

Let me answer this to you.

There is no way the Thalmor can invade skyrim.

Why?

Look at the map.

The route from the isles to Skyrim would take something like 15 days to cross. That is 15 days to get food. 15 days to get clothes. 15 days to get reinforcements.

And

They have to go through contested sea. The sea of Hammerfel, who has ships that constantly breach blockades and raid the Thalmor. They do not control even the area from which they would be departing.

That is already too far for an invasion, assuming that they already have galeons that can travel at 8 knots.

Furthermore, a Thalmor fleet crossing the seas of High Rock would cause panic and High Rock would immediately ally with Skyrim.

The people of High Rock being the best warriors to counter the Thalmor, that would be simply a stupid thing to do.

And when they managed to get to Skyrim they would have to invade Solitude against an army of experienced battle hardened nords and possibly the entire army of High Rock.


Now the other route, would require staying more than 30 days at sea in order to just get to skyrim, and then, having to wait even longer for supplies to get there.

Plus, they have to cross the sea of ghosts, and unfriendly coastline all through the path.

So there is simply no way the Thalmor can invade Skyrim. Right now it is simply impossible.
