Recently yes. Reflections and the sombra backstory gave us many questions.
But Old soldiers and Ana Amari's backstory answered questions and advanced the plot. As well as the Last Bastion short.

The problem I believe with reflections at least is a lack of content. With only 10 pages there wasn't enough time to explain many problems with that comic's story.

We can hope that the next comic and animated short answer more questions or advance the plot. And if these shorts /comics follow the release pattern of previous ones. We should expect them next month.

Recent sprays and the change to "You hook 'em, I'll cook 'em" would suggest Roadhog is warming up to Junkrat a little. I think part of it is just bantz, but it's also possible that Hog is just being an asshole and pushing Junkrat away because he doesn't feel like he deserves any kind of positive human connection. The first comic that I consider actually starting the story is "Loose Canon" from 2010. That is compared to 2007's release of team fortress 2. There were more before that, but those were never more than jokes or fun tidbits.

The comics have all been completely mediocre. Even the best ones, like Old Solider and Dragons completely lack any form of emotional impact.

The shorts are the redeeming factor of the lore. Whoever directs it, has slowly gained a knack for emotional impact. I would not call him perfect, I would criticize some of his editing choices, but he is improving with every short.

Heck, compare ana's origin story video and her comic. They are like night and day. Not only that they added that bullshit thing were Ana didn't hesitate, but did take the shot, and its just that it only grazed Widow.
