I'll never understand this kind of advice (escpecially when put in such a strong manner), there is no good reason to play the game while feeling overlevelled, or to not use the exp table mod when feeling that the game got too easy.
It's also a mod that starts to really affect your character in the medium-long term, starting to use it in NG+ doesn't affect the game as using it in since the first playthrough from the point you start feeling overlevelled. Using it from the first playthrough obviously can make the NG+ more enjoynable as well.

Naturally, if he won't feel overlevelled / that the game is too easy he can obviously skip it, but in the other cases people should't feel guilty for fixing it whenever they want.

I'd say "first playthrough no game breaking mod shit", for the rest it shouldn't be put as a sort of (dragon's) dogma. The second mods available pastebin lacks an explicit line about avoiding the gamebreaking features of hookmod, I guess, but there is nothing wrong with using those mods for the purposes listed in it.

The point of it is to farm items, this is common in hunting games.
You replay levels, in this case areas, to get certain items to create weapons and armour.

It's objectively easy to get overlevelled and finding the base game too easy in general. Some people won't get overlevelled and maybe they won't find the game too easy for some reasons, but many people did and will do. New players should know that possibility exists and that it can be fixed if they feel the need.
If there is something not needed here is that silly "no mod" dogma.

That's actually a pretty common point to have the whole map explored, it's just that the game tosses you so many exp that shit can happen. It's not an amount of exp that suits an open world game for sure.

Searching 199 also shows the real 200s. It's a longtime bug from the console days that capcom never cared about fixing. Your pawn is still never getting hired though because people at 200 don't need pawns as helpers any more, they just hire friends or help out people they know need rift crystals.

Pawns have different idle animations and victory poses depending on their inclinations. You rarely see the victory poses though since any movement at all from the arisen (and various other minor factors) will cause the pawn to move, cancelling the animation. The idle poses are also rarely noticed since they only do the unique ones when their health is in the red.

I'm level 26 by now. So far I could solo everything just fine, though I needed to hire some pawns for certain bosses.

I learned that you need to use weapons whose minimum level requirement is at or above the level of the enemies you're fighting, or else you do barely any damage. This means constantly crafting new items and farming materials.

Anyone who's got experience with the game know which crafting skills are best on your pawn in the long run?

Also I messed up and spent some of my Riftstone Shards instead of collecting 10 of them and unlocking a second Main Pawn, so now I'm one short and need to hope that the RNG gives me one as a weekly area reward.

This is a Japanese RPG, so not really adventure in the Western sense. The Japnese love hunting games a farming items. You can even bring 4 pawns in replacement of the usual 4 players of hunting games, there's even a post-game mode which resembles hunting games.

That is one of the reasons why I like overlord so much. His entire faction are basically pawns made by his guildmates which then become fucking sentient and he becomes the lord of death into this new fucked world of fantasy.

Creating a companion that follows you, and you can rent out to other people to get you shit, and rent others to create your own ideal part is a perfect mechanic for rpg's. And im not talking about isometric rpg's. This is fucking perfect for a free form rpg.

I thought this was actually fine other than double tapping a direction to dash. I got used to it a few minutes after the tutorial and the dagger class was actually really fun.

I also really hate the direction they went for with the world. It looks way too much like a Final Fantasy clone.

Updated pawn back to warrior since there was someone asking for male warriors in the last thread, and also because one can only tolerate so much dragon's maw spam.
The hireable version has no fashion and no shield because fun is not allowed.

Trying challenger/pio/mit for inclinations, so far it seems to work well although I've only run it in BBI.

Which is false and it's nothing more than a convenient excuse to hide your complete lack of argument.
First, the guy who asked was just talking about how was the game in general, nobody talked about mods until an anon come out to stress that "no mod" dogma as hard he could with a made up "key factor" and "dont feel guilty of over leveling ". So, yeah, good job at telling a story which is the exact opposite of what happened.
Second, generally it gets recommended when people complain about getting overlevelled and the easiness, and yeah, people complain about that a lot. Guess why. For the rest, letting people known that exists a way to fix a common problem is not useless. Trying to start a shitposting war like you are trying to do is utterly useless instead.
Third, I love how you are trying to resort to things that have nothing to do with this discussion only to try to save face. It really says everything.

I'll poke around /r/dragonsdogma and see what I can find out. A large amount on our list is indeed inactive so something needs to change, I can agree with you there. I just don't know exactly what. Your idea of "10 threads without reply = removal" sounds reasonable. We go through generals relatively fast here given the age of this game.

It's basically DDDA lite. Shallower, more grindy, more bland (generic high fantasy world).

The vocations are consolidated and very limited (archers don't have daggers any more, there's no hybrid vocations), and you gain levels separately in each class—which means that on one hand you can start over and play with low-level players again when you switch vocations, but you can't mix it up freely and still make progress like you could in DDDA.

If you're starved for more Dragon's Dogma after playing through DDDA multiple times, it will do the job well, but that's about it.

I totally understand why classes are more boxed into certain roles (so no archer/rogue combo like the yellow vocations), so I can live with that, even if it will feel pretty limited at first.

The real crime is the "generic high fantasy world" setting. Dragon's Dogma was never this. Guess it had to appeal to Japs more or something.

Dragon's Dogma was superbly crafted. Gran Soren's walls were historically accurate and defensive, its streets a fantastic representation of real mediæval towns.

The castle ruins dotting the landscape are romantic and picturesque, and just like the ones I've seen in real life.

Just like the first Dark Souls, you can see most important locations for almost every point in the game—along the coast, from atop mountains and towers.

The people of Gransys too were great—rugged soldiers, disheveled harlots, hearty fisherwives. It all came together to create a truly convincing little world. Lestaria? Populated by anime Aryans, supermodels, and loli elves. Bah.

The camerawork in DDDA was also great. It allowed for easy pans into the distance, but also conveyed well the intensity of clinging to an enemy and desperately jabbing your blade into it. DDO's camera on the other hand tens to look down on the action from farther away—forcing you to manually adjust it if you want to see more of the (boring) landscape, and undermining immersion.

I'm into architecture and was delighted throughout DDDA by how down-to-earth, historically accurate, and yet beautiful and unique the buildings, castles, and even ruins of Gransys were (only the Bluemoon Tower was a bit more fantastical, but still tasteful and subdued in that regard).

I don't think I ever stopped to marvel at anything playing DDO; more often I will avert my eyes because of how gaudy some places like the White Dragon temple are.

Meanwhile, on skyrim and oblivion you can make a drinking game out of finding shit like that.

Hey, I'm the guy from earlier trying to explain how the exp mod isn't necessary unless you do a lot things that aren't the main quest, and I'm going to point out that you're talking to two people at this point. Under that context, half of what you've said just makes you sound desperately defensive about your opinion on a video game. No one's getting mad, starting a shitposting war, or trying to mislead newfriends, we're just sharing our opinions. Relax, fampai.

Anyway, I concede that it's extremely easy to get overleveled in this game, but having played through it about four times from level one, I'm relatively certain that it's not a guarantee, or even especially likely, that you'll be overleveled; it varies between playstyles and from person to person. Back when /ddg/ was young and naive, people didn't usually complain about being too strong until after they got to NG+, so I'm thinking something in the player base changed between then and now. Maybe it's the addition of easier fast travel, I genuinely don't know.

It's a good mod to recommend, but it's not "essential." Unless, I guess, you're doing a lot of exploring/side quests/etc. Personally, I'd recommend going without mods on your first playthrough because it just feels more authentic. The level progression is fine, it's just that the monsters can't keep up. But, of course, that's just my opinion.

I'd even play a game that's set in the exact same map as DD, only scaled up (with the empty space filled up a little, but keeping the towns/settlements the same).

As beautiful as Gransys was, I would rather that they apply the talent and love for detail that they've shown to a more different setting, different era perhaps.
Gransys reminded me a lot of various corners of France (most of the photos I posted are from either Brittany or the Provence), so something that draws inspiration from the Netherlands, the Baltic coast, or Russia instead would be great.

Renaissance rather than Middle Ages would be nice too, so we could get a vocation employing firearms.

The sequel definitely needs more agriculture though. There's the small field near the Pawn Guild, some cows grazing outside Gran Soren, and a few small gardens, but that's really not enough.

That's not exactly "as intended", for many playstyles the amount of exp just doesn't suits this open world game (but in general those devs have never been that good at balancing level progression and game progression, it's not a case that hard mode is all over the place).

Does my height give me an advantage against tall opponents? I might be imagining it but it seems to me that hobgoblins miss me a lot with their swings and even an ogre or two. Also if I find pawns that work really well for my play style can I keep them up to date somehow? It's tough finding competent ones and I've out-leveled them sadly.

You can add them to your favorites but they will only level up when they get used by their Arisen. I wouldn't be too concerned about their level, some of the best pawns I have ever used are a much lower level than me.

At that level mages are still likely to get the most hires. Maelstrom is very unpopular especially for melee players because it blinds you for 15 seconds or so. Affinity on a sorcerer is debatable because that's a lot of time spent buffing instead of nuking, but people who don't bring a mage will still want it. Moving on, I believe that most people who spend their time going to an open world game, and then even going to a general thread about said game will probably seek efficiency in their playthroughs. We get equal inquiries about whether a person is too weak, or too strong and the usual cause is simple.

They either went through BBI too early (read: Before the main quest), or they haven't gone at all and are wondering why late-game monsters are so chumpy. Personally, I see a lot of people also like to drop off bbi lv3 weapons to lower level pawns too, or in less extreme cases the weapons that the Ur-Dragon might drop. A lot of people are making the game far too easy through more than just over-levelling.

This game has a lot of factors that reward those diligent enough to find them, and unfortunately for the game's balance, it's sometimes a little too much. An example might be the sword you can get from Berne's escort quest, which is essentially the strongest weapon possible to achieve before the dragon.

I always liked to think that the world we could explore in the game was only a single duchy of a much larger Gransys. I mean, it has a town, a village and a self reliant abbey. This is what I was talking about (looks almost like an Adam's apple). I tried varying head size, imposing stance, other shit and it won't fix. Only a covering hairstyle or cape will hide it.

Women have tighter shoulders than men, torso 8/9 (which this anon is using, IIRC) are the best for a feminine body aspect. They're also great to make even normal legs appear more THICC and the ass more prominent.

Torso 7 sort of does away with the neck problem, but not only do the shoulders get slightly wider, but the hips are also tighter for some reason. (Vary it in the character editor to see what I mean.)

Virtually all of them. Wish capcom had bothered to make them quest or exploration rewards instead of just lazily dumping everything in your bank at the start of the game. The Rift is completely saturated with pawns geared with DLC shit.

The DLC stuff is like one or two tiers above the starting level gear, but it's not really gamebreaking stuff if I remember correctly, and it all gets outclassed by the higher tier midgame level gear anyway. I'd say wear it if you like the AESTHETICS but otherwise stick to regular stuff.

You can get by the sleep server glitch by clicking through the menus real fast. I was able to accept the RC from two hires and one of them sent a lv3 bbi wep.

It takes a few trys, but just click through the menus really fast and you may get lucky like I just did.

It's a lot better than it sounds because everyone assumes it's just torpor which you can do with a rusted weapon using any multihit skill. When cast by the arisen it periodically stops the enemy. Each cloud has its own stops that will stack with multiple clouds. The duration of the cloud can be increased from 5 to 15 seconds with an adept hat or grave/carrion veil with equivalent bonus. So you just spam regular lassitude on something and it will never move again while you let pawns treat it as a punching bag, or it can be used to give yourself plenty of time to cast a big spell that would normally take too long to cast safely.
