I think Rey is kind of a Mary Sue. She shows up and she's mysteriously good at everything. Like she's instantly a top class fighter, uses the force better than Luke did at the same stage, and is even almost as good a pilot as Han. She even beats Kylo Ren on her first try. If you think about it, she basically has no flaws or weaknesses, personality or otherwise. I mean sure she might come from some powerful lineage but I think the fact that she's so "perfect" actually makes her kind of boring.

Gumi probably realized that Orlandeau was OP at release. Having GL behind JP allows them to "rewrite" their release schedule. Since Orlandu was so stupidly strong compared to everything else out at his release, why wouldn't they just release him later on GL to have more consistent/fun power creep? To be fair, there's no adequate build up for Vayne's ability to go barehanded monk style on the party for the first round of his three forms. It comes out of nowhere that the man can actually personally fight at all. Really the whole segment of FFXII's final battle seems completely ruled by gameplay and only occurs because the game needed a climax, every character displays skills on levels the story refuses to acknowledge before or after. Also Vayne becomes a magitek dragon god.
