Nth for important tip.
The very moment the AVATAR timer appears and it's counting down, you HAVE to infiltrate the black site no matter what.

Base infiltration is 16 days with no one assigned. Full squad is 28+ days. Boosting the infiltration will bring a full squad down to 19 days.

Legendary difficulty has 24 days total on the timer. Commander and lower has 28 days.

Be quick. Otherwise you'll be starting up a new campaign like myself.

I dont care how many times I have to reload like a shitter to get this shot, I have to find out if you can execute the traitor before they turn into a faceless.
>>
>>166937348
>the counter is pretty much independent from the missions, they just happened to fill the bar just then.
What?
>>
>>166936394
I thought the geneva convention is only supposed to ban things that are ineffective anyway. Banning useful stuff sounds like just a pretext for suing war losers.
>>
>>166937619
Given how faceless works in vanilla, hurting the hidden form will just do damage to the faceless for and activate it.
>>
>>166937619
>reload to get a shot
you do realize that seeded rng means you'll always miss the same shot because you're rolling the same number every time, right?
>>
>>166937803
Nothing ineffective about mines. Problem is that they stay effective long after the conflict is over.
>>
>>166937807
Well thats a fucking downer
>>
>>166937953
All you have to do is use a slightly different order in actions to get a different result. So even just moving somebody else before making that shot will change it to a different roll.
>>
>>166937638
You were just unlucky
>>
>>166937925
Right, I thought they restrict war crimes to stuff that's inhumane without being extra effective, like hollow point bullets. If they're banning legit effective weapons, which either side will use if push comes to shove, then it's just a way for winners to sue losers.
>>

>>
>>166938264
>I thought they restrict war crimes to stuff that's inhumane without being extra effective
Meh, I'm sure that is their stated purpose, but no one actually believes that flamethrowers and napalm aren't effective weapons of war. It bans torture too. It's more virtue signaling than anything else and usually the only people held accountable are western nations.
>>
>>166938509
Abiding the GenCon against countries that haven't even signed it, stupidity.
>>
>>166938406
Well the idea is that it's more economically harmful if you wound the enemy soldiers rather than killing them.
>>
>>166938184
>You were just unlucky
Did you not read what I said? Long War 2 1.1 patch notes states that Legendary difficulty has 24 days total on the AVATAR timer. Commander and lower has 28 days. Base Infiltration for the Black Site is 16 days without people. That's by default for everyone. Adding more people increases the time--for me it increased to 28 days because I was a full squad of magnetic/laser weapons and predator armor. If you're talking about the total time after I had chosen my operators then yes, that varies between each person who does a black site. But 16 days base infiltration is default for everyone, so depending on how many people you send, what equipment they bring, etc you're looking at about 6-8 days added on at the least assuming that you don't go full madman with only conventional stuff.
>stealth run it with 1 person
I didn't think of that till now. Still wouldn't have helped me since I had 7 days left till the timer finished and I didn't realize this magnificence till then. Unlucky about not realizing this sooner? Sure. But the facts still remain.
>>
>>166938687
Hollowpoints are better at disabling hajis, then you can just tap again if no one's looking, otherwise it's mountains of paperwork. The regulations are moronic. Marines aren't even allowed to knife downed muds.

Unnecessary. We aren't in Korea, and we're in no danger of running out of boolet. Any Marine who wants to knife a downed enemy instead of just shooting him is a savage and needs more discipline.

>>166937907
I think that XCOM2 RNG is probably reseeded when you load a save. At least I'm pretty sure I've had things happen differently after loading a save.
XCOM1 had a completely deterministic RNG, though. It actually made savescumming easier in some ways. You could load a save and take the three shots you already hit, with the same outcomes, and then do an extra action to get a fresh result for the one shot you missed the last time.
>>
>>166946693
>I think that XCOM2 RNG is probably reseeded when you load a save.
It isn't except in one area, which for some reason is hack rolls.
>>
>>166946284

Delete everything and reinstall the game. Sometimes, the ghosts of dead rookies can infest your config files.

I'm pretty sure its reseeded if you make different moves anyway on the same save
, which is why Savescumming is so easy.
>>
>>166938509
>western nations
>accountable
Has this ever actually happened?
You can't really enforce international law, anyway. The only time actual consequences come to effect is when one side has already lost the war. The warcrime trial is just for propaganda purposes. If the occupying army simply wanted someone dead, they could just SHOOT him.

Idk, there has been attempts to bring US soldiers to International courts a couple of times, but fortunately no one has been dumb enough to let that happen. We still don't use stuff like napalm anymore, and we at least pretend not to torture people.
>>
>>166944595
You also aren't allowed to shoot downed enemies. You need to call it in, they dispatch an officer and medics to the scene, the officer needs to write a full report and the downed mud gets sent to whatever medical facilities you have on site.

Well that's garbage. Are there any must-build Proving Grounds projects (other than the obvious plasma nades and mandatory skulljack) or is it mostly pointless in the early game when you're still strapped for supplies?

I'm playing Long War 2 and I never seem to get any enemy corpses after fights, I'm not using explosives or anything. I've killed 2 or 3 squad leaders but I can't get a body so I can make the skulljacker, anybody else experience this? Saw nothing on the steam forum.
>>
>>166949432
You can't get bodies from missions that require you to evac
>>
>>166949432

If "eliminate all hostiles" is part of the mission objective, you will get corpses.

Wrong. If your enemy is still kicking enough that you feel a need to "put him down", it's better to do it with a firearm. It's safer for the trooper in addition to being more touchy-feely U.N. humane.

Unless you're trying to avoid detection, there is no reason to risk getting in close enough to kill a downed enemy with a knife other than pure-D bloodlust.
>>
>>166948885
There are also reasons for this. HUMINT being the primary one, plus the fact that any enemy that knows he faces execution is much less likely to surrender.

Excuse me anon this tiny octopus needs your help.

Is there a mod to equip my doods with the same set of gear faster?

For example I can currently afford only ten magnetic weapons. Finding them and changing them over from squads and people then fucking about with mods, then doing the same with armour is frankly just an annoyance I could live without.

I'd just like a button that gives them all laser guns if I have them in my stock.
If you can tell me what mod that might be it will make tiny octopus really happy.

Because it's JLump, that's why. In EU/EW he'd stack ridiculous amounts of defense on units such that the AI for units that usually take cover - like Mutons - would break and they'd start just running out into the open and firing like rambo because with a passive +40 defense the AI is convinced it's in full cover.

You'd be a fool to think he wouldn't jump on a mechanic like dodge like a starving lion pouncing on a cow.

Alien Hunters is some new mini-bosses (and a fun little story mission) plus some fun, unique weapons. They might not be your speed if you're a high speed low drag operators gonna operator /k/ommando though. Shen's has a really fun story mission and an entire new class of units that are basically MECs.

Like vanilla MECs they're fun but ultimately kind of inferior. They're prime ground for modding into something fun and useful though.

I think one of my first ini tweaks is going to be to find out where all this bullshit grazing is coming from and reduce it to vanilla values.
I can understand getting grazing shots at a lithe creature like a Viper or even some ADVENT like the Stun Lancers, since they're supposed to be really mobile and shit.

I do not understand how the fuck a stationary turret, a stunned MEC, or a fucking zombie is dodging bullets and laser beams. It's just fucking stupid.

Not a better game but it handled a timer system much better. Basically everything but the story was decent and it mainly needed more content or a stable modding community.

The XCOM equivalent would be that every 5-6 turns something bad happens. e.g. more reinforcements, turret activations etc. That steadily get progressively worse with each increment of 5 turns.
From the 30th turn onwards reinforcements would just pile on non stop.

Invisible inc does have a resource system that complements the timer system, mainly with firewalls getting harder to break and power being scarce in the end. Ammo too.
Long war did make cooldown classes worse and resource classes, like medics and grenadiers, better, and with the yellow state thingy fucked up overwatch tactics even more, but you can still camp a spot endlessly pretty easily with a good setup, and you'd just create more standoff scenarios with your solution.

Boosted a small squad to 101%, but i wasn't counting on a double pod being right outside of the spawn, a 6 men tightly packed ADVENT patrol was 1 turn from flanking one of the troopers so i was forced to engage.

Couple of turns later 2 pods patroled into the fireteam, next turn Marcus gets mindcontroled and killed by an ADVENT goon and finally a dropship blew it's load of 4 friendly peacekeepers behind us.

I argue that it lends the feeling of an actual guerilla op, where you need to complete your objective before your enemy brings its ridiculously-superior firepower to bear against you. Since XCOM2 is a game where you are, in fact, in charge of a guerilla force, I'd say that a mechanic that makes the player think and act like a guerilla commander is excellent game design, no matter how much you don't like how the mechanic in question forces your hand.

Sometimes you don't get the best possible scenario. Welcome to being ISIS fighting America.

I'm not saying Timers are literally a godsend, but they fucking fit Xcam 2. It was a good design choice when making a guerilla ops game that'd there'ed be pressure, constant pressure where you're even more fucked over by numbers, skills, and resource

Xcom 2 with no timers is Xcom enemy within

Could they have done more? Sure. But flooding a map with enemies isn't the answer and would belay more frustration simply because the nature of RNG bullshit.

I actually agree but I prefer it with True Concealment so its a little more sensical. And mainly so I can actually have the time for those long drawn out firefights while still not being able to just dick around. For example on my last mission I engaged most of the enemy force for some extra XP and Loot and even with True Concealment I was down to 3 turns left. Mind you this mainly applies to LW2 where the maps are huge and enemies are very numerous, in vanilla the game becomes so easy that the timer might as well not exist.

You keep saying this, but it just isn't true. The lowest timer I have seen is eight turns.

That's eight turns from Firebrand flying its way into enemy territory to the point where they are pulling in assets to deny airspace. If you're talking about the reinforcement timer, then you're still wrong, because reinforcements don't drop in one turn after you break concealment. So, explain to me just exactly what the fuck you mean by "one turn response time".

>I know for sure the US wouldn't have a one turn response time

Doesn't work with infiltrations, since there is no reason for the firebrand to even be around. There is no point to have a forced exfil location on rescue missions either.

I consider true concealment canon for long war 2.
>>
>>166977665
As an addendum, I do think that it would be really cool to be able to try to SERE your way out of an AO after Firebrand has to get the fuck out, but I don't see how that would be possible in the scope of an XCOM game.

I've been drinking. Bear with me.
>>
>>166977868
Drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts :^)
>>
>>166977849
>Doesn't work with infiltrations, since there is no reason for the firebrand to even be around
The reason is, you need to leave, which is why I think it's really cool that the amount of time it takes for evac to arrive is dependent on how well you infiltrated in the first place. You're quiet, they aren't suspicious, it's easier for air support to pull you out. You're fast and loud, they're on alert, and it takes more time for Firebrand to finagle its way around AA and pull your ass out of the fire.

>There is no point to have a forced exfil location on rescue missions either.
I'm iffy on this. Any situation where a real-world rescue mission takes place, there is a favorable location set up for exfil days in advance. That said, plans change in the heat of the moment, and I would not be opposed to a mechanic that lets you change extraction location on missions like that with a delay to represent Firebrand having to move.
>>
>>166977868
I think actually exfiltrating instead of being extracted could work; you'd have a set location on the map after firebrand has to bail and an exfiltration timer, with maybe a high chance of having to dump gear to blend in the populace and/or a chance to get wounded. So you'd still be penalised, but it wouldn't be a black/white lose condition anymore.
>>
>>166978147
Yes, any op has a predetermined exfil location in the real world, but that doesn't apply to xcom where rescue ops are the only ones that do.

If the firebrand can make fast adjustments and get over on a moment's notice, why wouldn't you call it in when and where it's most convenient?
>>
>>166978409
>If the firebrand can make fast adjustments and get over on a moment's notice, why wouldn't you call it in when and where it's most convenient?
Way I look at it is, on missions where you have to call in Firebrand for evac, the pilot is lurking just out of detection radius, ready to respond as quickly as possible. On rescue ops, the plan was made in advance and you gotta stick with it. I don't necessarily agree with that from a real-world standpoint but, as a game mechanic, it does make sense to me.
>>
>>166978702
I would call it lazy design. It's clear that firebrand can get on site in a timely manner and it doesn't really matter where it sets down, so having the forced LZ mechanic on rescue missions is nothing but an annoyance. As an added irritation, you literally can't emercency evac on rescue missions if you find out you've bitten more than you can chew because firebrand is busy hovering on the other side of the map for no reason.

The only way i would see this constant feel of guerilla OP thing working with timers would be removing the fission mailed tied in with timers.

I imagine something like True Concealment but with shorter timers and reinforcements.

So the moment you break concealment, you have lets say 4 to 6 turns to do the objective and get the fuck out (in LW2).

Now the moment the timer runs out, you start getting reinforcements non stop, one after the other starting with the first responders as ADVENT troopers, then ADVENT troopers + Officers and then you get the idea all the way to calling aliens into your position.

The only way to make reinforcements a real "oh shit" moment would give them the ability to scamper + get a shot off, that would keep a very high flow of pressure while keeping the game in a sense of hurry.

Otherwise, reinforcements will always be free XP

>>
>>166979137
>It's clear that firebrand can get on site in a timely manner
Not all missions are created equally. Rescue ops are dicey, in real life and XCOM. The enemy knows it is holding onto an HVT, and you might not have the best place to extract from. As opposed to something like destroying a relay or stealing some data, where the concern is simply getting out once the objective is complete.

>you literally can't emercency evac on rescue missions if you find out you've bitten more than you can chew because firebrand is busy hovering on the other side of the map for no reason
I have yet to encounter this, but I won't disallow the possibility. Every rescue mission I've attempted, the evac was fairly close to the target in question. Not Created Equally fucked me on one of them, but that was my fault for enabling it in the first place.

Like I said, though, not opposed to a mechanic that lets you change evac point with a delay on rescue ops. Would just make sense, to me.

I don't disagree with anything in this post. >Not all missions are created equally. Rescue ops are dicey, in real life and XCOM.
So the solution is to... have your transport hover in place for an extended period of time?
>As opposed to something like destroying a relay or stealing some data, where the concern is simply getting out once the objective is complete.
So, no difference to rescue missions then.

>I have yet to encounter this, but I won't disallow the possibility. Every rescue mission I've attempted, the evac was fairly close to the target in question.
Not relative to the target, relative to your squad. You cannot extract, to get out you WILL need to run to the other side of the map, towards the target and the LZ.

Currently I'm only doing rescue missions with meme compositions of 1-2 shinobi, because if you fuck up and your squad gets tied down in trench warfare, there is no way out. The risks far outweigh the rewards on those missions.

long war.
I've tried it and most of the time I can get through 1-3 squads of enemies being dropped on me, and eventually when I can't, it doesn't really matter because you can evac after taking your turn anyway, so there appears to be zero risk.

Can you scoop up their bodies and take them up into the ranger? materials so rare in LW2 that alone could make the tactic valid
>>
>>166980883
If only. Far as I know, the only missions that get you bodies are Gatecrasher, supply raids, and troop column ambushes.
>>
>>166978224
If you get cut off, you should have to do a second recovery mission with your soldiers still wounded and a new set of enemies out in the wilderness. This would make spending a long time fighting tough to deal with since you've spent a lot of resources (health, munitions) and now have to fight even more people before escaping successfully, but still viable.
>>

Faceless spy missions too.

You know what I wanna know? Why the shit haven't Lump n' co. included the functionality to transfer resistance personnel between regions? I think there should be an exfiltration period after you get stranded behind enemy lines, and the exfiltration speed would depend on factors like squad size, equipment, ranks, officer, remaining health, advent strength and so forth. Then you'd get a result depending on what percentages you hit.

1) Avenger scan site (find the operatives and bring them home), exfil =>100%
2) Follow-up mission either in urban or wilderness, depending on how far you got (defend the LZ from waves of enemies), exfil <100% (enemy precence lessens towards 100%)
3) Failure, you all get captured and have to rescue the operatives later on, exfil <50%

Then of course you'd have the option to use intel to boost exfiltration speeds. This would lessen the impact of the mission timers; you'd still want to rush as much as possible to the LZ so that you get your operatives back immediately without extra risk, but missing the timer would no longer mean a complete squad wipe. I pulled the percentage numbers out of my ass. The point is that there needs to be consequences, in that you lose a lot of time and likely some intel, but the current system is too rigid and punishing.

Play vanilla first, grab some cosmetic and quality of life mods if you feel like it, there's a list in the OP.

As for the DLCs, Anarchy's Children is just cosmetic stuff and Alien Ruler's is a "challenge DLC" so it's supposed to be pretty hard, you might want to not buy it for your first playthrough. Shen's last gift has a special mission that unlocks a new class, you might want that.

Late response but, geneva convention wouldn't be given a second look in an actual to-the-death (or at least to who sues for peace first) war, for instance, between the Warsaw Pact and NATO or between Russia and China.

The implementation is pretty much useless because in an actual desperate situation, especially if the cost of losing too much is nuclear war being the only option your country has left, there are pretty easy moral justifications for the use of every single thing you have in the arsenal to possibly prevent a conventional war going nuclear.

It only really exists at this point as a little rulebook of 'hey guys you should behave and fight nicely' but most factions just disregard them entirely because they're often going to be lawfully fucked either way. In conventional war it exists as a moral justification to totally destroy an enemy who broke the rules out of desperation post-war and to discourage peace being drawn up against state actors who break them.

Plus, when it comes to mines and napalm, most countries either have them or things which fill the same tactical role and would certainly use them. Fuel-air bombs come to mind as pretty much being akin to napalm, but with the ability to also cause concussion waves that can kill people in bunkers and tanks and to remove the oxygen from an area.

This
How much is it to ask for a supply raid or ambush that ain't pure bullshit.
All of mine have come with max 2 days 15 hours infiltrate time and baseline moderate-heavy.
Meaning that with a decent squad and intel boost I still get like somethin like moderate heavy.
Ofc I've tried going full stealth, but in the end up lacking utility and almost getting fucked by the least minimum of enemies I could get.

Also the fact that you don't get to collect enemy corpses after retaliation missions and others where you do not evacuate is STUPID.
>>
>>166987047
>>166987753
honestly just asking for the bodies is huge because they never allow you to get corpses
having a mod that allows you to grab corpses i feel makes sense, but then we run into possible balance issues
>>
>>166987787
True, but atm my Shinobis are completely useless.
I am reaching mag tech atm, but I have ZERO stun lancer corpses, thus I have 0 blade research done and thus no upgrades for shinobi.
Even worse, I cannot produce some of the shit I have researched, beacuse I don't have the needed corpses.
>>
>>166987904
Shinobi are not useless even with just basic machetes. They have a 8-10 against organics, and get to attack everyone that moves into or out of melee or uses any ability within reach.
>>
>>166988172
See I get your point, and I realize Shinobi are immensely useful, but at the same time they can be useless real fast since melee is still fairly risky to do since it's moving out of cover (this isn't taking into account you could trigger another pod)
>>
>>166988258
>trigger another pod
all you need to say about a class that gets its main damage out of charging into the enemy lines.
>>
>>166988317
You see more enemies to slice up, and I see more paperwork to write out on my commander's forms (even more if somebody dies)
>>
>>166949567
Generally I just put a shit ton of guys on Intel and make decisions based on whatever freebies I get, often alien materials. That and it makes it much easier to get the missions you want, getting a few engineers early on will let you rely on excavation for resources until you can afford to have a haven focus on supply.
>>
Will they make Sharpshooters not garbo next patch?
>>
>>166988258
Yes, activating a new pod is always a risk, that's why you need to use fleche situationally. Also often you can position yourself in cover after charging, and later on you get to move after making a kill, meaning that you'll be very hard to pin down.
>>
>>166988519
If you can fleche into cover isn't a part of what I mentioned, and of course if you can it's almost always worth it.
>>
>>166958723
Ignore supplies, INTEL is your best friend.
Put 1 person on supplies and 1 on recruit if you want, but early game put everyone on INTEL.
You will get the missions you want with plenty of time to infiltrate, once you have 4 havens and at least 2 engineers and 2 scientists its safe to focus on other things.
>>
So on those assassinate missions the supplies/intel reward is both if you kidnap, only supplies if you execute, right?
This one has 2days so I only sent in a sniper/shinobi to cheese.
>>
>>166988172
I gotta state my case more accurately.
I am just salty that I cant use my weebwarriors in combat due to them lagging two tiers behind in tech, because of shit luck with supply/ambush missions.

I still think they are rather risky class to use in full combat purpose, since I've noted that extra pod activations are super cruel in LW2.

I dunno, I've headcanon'd it as the resistance has made a program to hack the cells. Anything else that you get out of it is from you actually hacking.

But you're right, it'd be more dynamic to give doors a high tech value, so earlygame it's better to blow out the walls, but lategame you get to hack them. If you did this, you could modify it so the hack doesn't draw any attention like if does now.

Pretty similar to a mission I had yesterday, except that I tried to blow the side of the train with a rocket to hack the objetive. The rocket dealt 0 damage to anything and activated all 3 pods the following turn, including 2 stun lancers and a viper.

Ended up getting pulled by a viper while I was inside smoke in low cover with my tech, proceeded to get destroyed by a combination of the death of tech guy and panic + stun lancers.

If i knew that the viper would actually succeed I wouldnt have smoked and died with my shinobi aswell. Also forgot to boost to 150 for that -1 extraction. Probably wouldnt make a difference tho, since died in 1 turn after activation.

Fuck sneks and stun lancers.

They do nothing. They are only really useful for making holes in walls for tactical cool insertions or to send the every pod chasing after the Shinobi on the other side of the map.

Do Shinobis get revealed separately from the rest of the squad?
>>

They stay concealed if the squad is revealed but not vice-versa. But they do get conceal so they can just pop in and rejoin the squad.

Breaking into cells for quick access to evac. I'm pretty sure they're designed so you have flexibility in case of awkward egress points for an objective.
>>
>>166993684
If the evac point is right outside the cell room of a VIP extraction shaped charges can be very useful. It's hard to plan for it without knowing the map layout though.
>>
>>166992259
I'd like hacking to take time instead. You succeed eventually, but it may take your hacker multiple turns if you take the harder to hack bonus.

Yeah, there's a shitload of enemies but area suppression, concussion rockets, flashbangs and jazz control them and with 10 soldiers you have more than enough firepower to cheese those missions.

I finally got LW2 working relatively bug free, I can now proceed past gatecrasher.

What is /xcg/ doing with its first 8 promotes? As in which classes give the most bang for their buck. More than one shinobi and sharpshooter is my instinct, and definitely a hacker, but I have no experience with how the missions work and what I can expect.
>>
>>167004596
>sharpshooter
Probably weakest class again. All the other classes seem pretty good though.
>>
>>167004596
Grenadiers and assaults are bottom tier, but they aren't bad, just outclassed by technicals and prone to activating new pods too often, respectively. Sharpshooters are good with shinobi on assassination missions, mediocre elsewhere.

>>
>>167004994
It doesn't matter as you can train up some rooks through early missions and the gts pretty fast. Also I whoever says assaults and grenadiers are bad is delusional. Just take everything but sharpshooter.
>>
>>167004956
R O C K E T S
They don't need sapper to clear cover, walls and floors. Which is good on higher difficulties where the soldier turnover rate is higher.

Assaults are great when they have room to maneuver, but most missions don't do that.
>>
>>167005113
>R O C K E T
Fixed that for you. And if you don't see the value of three high range, cover clearing, higher AOE damage dealing grenades then I don't know what can be done for you.
>>
>>167005113
You get only one rocket while grenadiers can have multiple didferent kinds of grenades. A grenadier launching two bangs in a single turn has saved my group's collective ass more than once, and you're calling them bottom tier.

You're a special needs person aren't you?
>>
>>167005070
Snipers are really that bad? Literally exclude-tier? Feels bad, they were my favorite in LW1. I guess I can put the gunner or grenadier in his place. Does the BFG give a penalty to infiltration, or is it just SMGs giving a bonus to infiltrate?
>>
>>167005350
Pretty sure gunners, technicals, and grenadiers all get infiltration penalties.
I don't know, maybe snipers get better, but I was having trouble really seeing the value of them early on.
>>
>>167005350
Yes, equipment can give penalties to infiltration speed.
>>
>>167005113
I agree but mostly because sapper isn't really working out for me. It doesn't blow up low cover consistently enough. Might actually consider a batman grenadier since flashbangs are useful and can disorient robotic enemies with the right perk.

They're alright if you spec them into holo-targeting and give them a pistol.

Yeah, it allows you to experiment and learn the game more.
t. started both games with classic/commander and savescummed, but eventually got I/I & L/I through and even LW I/B.

Now if you've got several hundred hours combined in EW and 2, I dont know what to tell you. But if you're just starting then savescumming is pretty good for learning the game.

I think the level of enemy activity remains the same.

The HQ missions are not that difficult compared to the atrocious network tower mission. Sure you have a lot of dudes to chew through, but you can take your time with good old fashioned overwatch crawls since reinforcements are not a concern, plus you can bring a full squad to boot. The map is huge and there's a lot of high ground and full cover for you to utilize. Once you have enough lasers for your A-team, you can safely tackle them.

I have a quick, slightly urgent Long War 2 question: If I have two dark events coming up, can I counter both of them, or only one, like in the vanilla game? I have an option for an easy mission to counter one, but the other Dark Event is MUCH worse (Most enemies get Lightning Reflexes), so if I counter this less bad one (UFO hunts the Avenger), will I fuck myself?

Thanks!

I don't understand how navigator chances work in LW. For example in the table for sectoids in pic related, does it mean that every non-boss sectoid rolls 20% for extra aim, then 20% for 1hp, and so on? Would this mean that at 270 research sectoid pods will be 100% navigator sectoids excluding the pod leader?

>Each "pod" will be led by one Squad Leader alien, possessing both improved stats and new abilities. Each leader has a chance to be accompanied by a Navigator alien in addition to its other pod-mates which usually acts as a scouting unit of sorts, often possessing perks suitable for this role. Squad leaders can easily be identified by their larger health pool and increased physical size.

So it means that some Sectoids could be upgraded to navigators, and have a chance to roll for extra stats

Right, the question is do they always roll, or is there a chance to get assigned as navigator and get the right to roll? If the former, then at 270 research all sectoids will be navigators with low profile, if the latter then only some will have low profile.

He said it just took too long at that he felt "people submitted stuff just so it could be seen on stream," or something like that. Never really understood why that was a negative, that's just a community sharing stuff. I didn't realize we were supposed to have a higher calling when we submitted are fanart.

These cunts can get you out of full cover and reliably get one person killed per turn

Holy shit a gunner speced for area suppression is op as dirt. I just had one face off against 3 mutons and a viper by herself. She killed the viper on a 81% reaction shot for 11 damage, then went on to babysit the mutons for 4 turns as they tried hitting her with 3% shots till my trash technical and ranger finally landed enough potshots to kill them.

Is long watch not as good in lw2?
Sharpshooter's reaction shots are between 30 and 45 most of the time even on high ground. while if I hold off on the overwatch and try for a regular shot despite them being in cover, my standard aiming perks kick in (holotargeting, DGG, depth perception) and I get between 70-100

I dont see anything sharpshooter gets naturally that boosts reaction fire. Should I just respec for deadeye and make it synergize with aggression?

I can see why that would be a negative. If you have to stop gameplay at a certain point to do fanart, the more fanart there is = sooner you cut gameplay. If people are just throwing up some lazy shit to do the equivalent of jumping in front of the camera it can be kinda annoying that that's eating up time.

It's kinda the same reason he stopped reading (on stream anyways) fan-fics people would do. It's just way too much time.

alien hunters was too hard for casuals and normies are too stupid to uninstall dlcs they don't like or to download mods to fix and or change things they can.

The only negatives in my opinion that this game has, is that it's poorly optimized and that the strategy layer was more "casualized" than in EW for some reason.

The helmet is from the BF4 helmet pack. Clothes are from the CoD gear pack.

Alien hunters gets hate because it adds unnecessarily tough boss monsters, but it is satisfying to kill the motherfuckers after like 8 missions dancing with them.
>>
What's your favorite squad setup guys?

I've been running with 4 gunners, 4 technicals, 1 Specialist and an Assault. Regardless of infiltration time I can safely take out packs of enemies with explosives while area suppressing anything left standing with my Gunners. Spec is for remote hacking shenanigans and the Assault is a bit of a wildcard that usually doesn't come in handy since everything is blown to pieces before he can do anything, but a run and gun assault may be useful at some point.

Playing on Commander and shits trivial at this point
>>
>>167044296
The "patsy" seems like a custom font, besides that the "Marked for greatness" and "ft. notorious mec" should be standard text fonts, with "Ft notorious MEC" also having a slight upward stretch.
>>
>>167044337
T b h I kinda like the boss monsters. The sheer range of actions they get to react on is a bit excessive (getting a reaction to a reloading of your gun? C'mon jake, really), but that their mechanic means an alpha strike is all but impossible is really satisfying because you actually get into a knock-down, drag-out boss fight.

They're better "boss" enemies than the Avatars are.
>>
>>167044749
The rulers are kind of bullshit because they just casually break the space-time continuum with their turn rules.
>>
>>167044749

Same, my only problem with them is how they run away if you hurt them a little, it ends up meaning that unless you mess up and they catch you off guard encountering them is very trivial, you just hurt them a little and they go away.

Except for the Archon King, who can stay in play even after taking multiple shots most of the time.

I wish there was a mod that made it so they have a chance to run away, instead of running away all the time when they get hurt.
>>
>>167044967
But that's their fun. You take shots and get shot at instead of this weird freeze-frame where you explode and massacre ADVENT in a split second.

My only complaint with them is the Archon one, because there's no real way to deal with him spamming his rockets, you can't move everyone out of the way (only really one person). He needs a much longer CD on it.
>>
>>167044376
how can you even be fucked playing against +30 enemies in a combat mission? that would get boring so fast

I just got XCOM 2 from Humble Monthly. In XCOM 1 I used to be always afraid of moving out of cover even if it meant exploring the map would be much more difficult and I was always afraid of accidentally triggering pods while moving units. Now in XCOM 2 there are strict turn timers for missions and enemies drop loot so there's more incentive to be more aggressive. Should I still be very careful when moving or is it not such a big deal?

>>

You should be much more aggressive. If you're not in contact you don't need to be in cover (usually), however caution is also key. Have a troop (typically a ranger, because they can be sneaky and have a shotgun) be your forward scout. Everyone follows in their footsteps and I mean -literally- in their footsteps. If you spread out wide you might run into contact that the scout didn't see and end up in a new fight.

Why the fuck is my game crashing? Here's my mod list.
>pure virtual function being called while application was running (gisrunning == 1)
Last time I played was like March of last year and I never had this.
>>
>>167045919

Well, to start with, i can tell you that no one knows for sure what causes that crash.

But from this, i can tell you that i haven't seen that crash in ages and out of those mods i don't use:

Quick Soldier Info
Improved Camera
Numeric Health Display
>>
>>167045453
Download the True Concealment mod. The turn timer is illogical if Advent don't actually know you're around and it gives you more room to set up ambushes and approach objectives.

Trust me constantly having to book it to objectives and run away within an incredibly small time limit gets really old fast.
>>
>>167046042
I'm gonna try disabling those one by one. Quick soldier info and Numeric health display are new, I didn't use those last year. Also it might be the improved camera on top of Long War 2 now, but supposedly it doesn't cause a conflict according to the comments. If all else fails, I'll try disabling that too.
>>
>>167046042
I use Numeric Health Display and I don't get that crash, you can rule it out too.
>>
>>167046245
I didn't think so, that one is basically a standard mod now and I'd see a lot more complaining.

>>
>>167046225

>>
>>167046337

>>
>>167044376
id replace 2 gunners with 2 grenadiers for even more splosions
>>
>>167046380
Bandanas and improved cam aren't on the list, but the comments said improved cam is compatible. but they might be full of shit, LW2 has an improved cam too, but I hate how it doesn't line up right. I'll try axing these.
