It would be nice if the mood debuff from matching apparel was reversed during a raid and for some time after that.
The more people wear the same shit as you during a raid the bigger the mood buff (part of a team, guys keeping my back safe, all that group fighting stuff).

You can also extend it to being drafted. Undrafted is debuff dependend on total pawns with matching outfits. Drafted decreases debuff (maybe slight buff) dependent on pawns with same outfit drafted.

I've seen people use heaters and day lamps, so you should be fine. Boreal forests are good if you're just getting into cold biomes, plenty of wood to work with and animals to hunt/tame to get you started. If you pick a spot with a 30-day growing period you can realistically grow enough food to last all winter and your coolers will use minimal to no power to keep your food frozen because it's colder outside than in.

SAND WOULD BE A FUCKING USELESS RESOURCE. And your reason to add it boils down to "B-BUT MUH REALISM", because you can't fucking abstract the steel being used as part of the preparation of the sandbags.

Sand COULD become useful if you added also other stuff that would require sand. But the gameplay value of those would be marginal at best, in a game still in alpha (alpha = lacks core gameplay), so it's better to use the limited development time to implement more relevant stuff.

The main problem of trenches costing only time are:

1. If you do it a dumb labour, people will complain "it takes too fucking long!". If you do it a construction labour, people will exploit it.
2. Colonist time is simply too unpredictable as a resource for that - it doesn't translate well to resources. Sometimes colonists have too much idle time (for example, in a larger colony), so players would be able to spam sandbags. Sometimes colonists have too little time, and thus players wouldn't be able to prepare before raids.

Steel is ideal? Nope. But better than the current "low hanging fruits".

You don't have to be more creative. Sappers are easy to beat even with just your colonists.

There's always 2-3 raiders that are obsessed with digging and won't help their friends. There's also less raiders than usual during a sapper event.

No. All techs have assigned advancement value. Shit like farming is neolithic, guns industrial etc.
Now, tribals start at neolithic tech level, which means that all techs above that level have 200% penalty (I think 300 for spacer tech but I'm not sure).
This mod allows you to move your faction level higher in tech tree (like neolithic->medieval) after you researched all stuff from the level below.

I'd argue extreme heat is harder because it requires a lot more power to keep a place cooled than warmed up, and the rainforest biome basically has a season or four out of the year where your colonists just randomly get malaria. Also more cercopia trees than other, more useful trees.

I'd say extreme cold is more fun because you have to plan a lot more carefully where you build shit and you're going to need to make airlocks for a lot of buildings to keep heat from leaking

I think when I used that mod in like A15 or A14, almost all the guns that weren't sniper rifles or LMGs were fucking garbage because they either did garbage damage only good for hunting squirrels or the range was so pathetic you might get one shot off at best before the melee guy closes in and just hacks your arm off with some plasteel weeb sword.

Modderfaggot anon here. What are some vanilla-friendly ideas you guys have for mods? What I've made so far
>More functional apparel - sweater, tank top, shorts, insulated pants (might add in more stuff like scarves, leather jackets, etc.)
>Upgraded, sidegraded, and new weapons - semi-auto shotgun, double barrel shotgun, single-fire battle rifle over assault rifle, tranq gun, some others
If I could figure out the code I'd love to make a 'cot' bed-type. It removes the "shared bedroom" debuff, but also removes the "good/fine/etc. barracks" buff and they aren't that great to sleep on.

Playing with 16, after a break of a year or so.

Love the caravans, they really scratch a gaming itch of mine to be a wandering trader. I started a tribal game, gathered a bunch of food and set off.

The only issue I ran into is the need to stop and gather more food every ten feet.

Questions:

Is there a mod to improve trading? After two or three stops I'd bought most everything I needed, and the even pricing meant I ended up selling the leather from the animals I killed to make it there from the last town.

These fucking storytellers. I remember they were completely counterintuitive in some way, but not how. What's the best pick for a simulationy type setting? Phoebe Challenging?

If you notice, glittertech end game uses an absolute massive amount of power, with no way to produce that power except by using the endgame generater, which can't be created except by using the things that require absolutely massive amounts of power to create the materials to make the generater, which is used to power the tools to build the generater, it's a complete paradox. That's where the other power mod comes into play. Besides the bigger generaters in the other mod require loads of materials on their own, and they actually give use to uranium. So my question is to you, how is spending a bunch of materials on one big generater any different from spending the a bunch of materials on a bunch of smaller generaters?

Uranium is already used in the ship reactor and Glittertech is infamous for its shitty balance. The difference is that you circumvent all the resource management and maintenance on a bunch of smaller generators and use that extra power to create things that trivialize the game even further. "What's the difference between five geothermal generators and one geothermal generator that costs 5x the resources?" It requires less space, so you can place more of them, it requires fewer geysers, so there's a much higher cap on how much guaranteed power you can have, and it trivializes any challenge involved in protecting those generators especially considering you often end up having to place them further away from your base. It's cheating.

All shitposting aside, there's something to be said about artistic vision. Personally, I only like mods that add variety or more challenge to the game, not make things that are intended to be difficult to manage more convenient. Unless you've modded in greater threats that are intended to go hand in hand with your Free Power, there's not really much to the game anymore, is there?
