The concern is simply the intial drone getting away and the first xenos kicking off. They dont need to be invisible but the drone/queen needs someway to get settled without being obliterated by the colonists. Another option is have an attack by xenos that try and kidnap colonists and drag them to a corner and set up a nest in force from the get go. But that sorta takes away from the shock of initial discovery.

Modderfaggot anon here. How does pic related look for an "upgraded" shotgun? In addition to the tranq gun (if I can properly balance it) I'm going to be adding in a handful of upgraded/sidegraded weapons. My mod collection is just going to be vanilla+ stuff. Not him, but you need like a level 14~ or so gardener, at least 15 days for growth, and a level 15~ or so craftsman to smelt down the plants from an electric smelter. While the smelter is in vanilla and takes research, you also need special research for the plants as well.

If I'm thinking of the right mod that is, I wasn't sure if component plants were on that list, while I know it had most other metals.

It depends on the multipliers. I love Muffalo wool for my tundra colony because it gives a 300% insulation against the cold. However, it also gives a 300% insulation against the heat, making the comfortable temperature range for heat go down to around 70f/21c.

In general, anything wool should be used for cold weather clothing like Parkas or Toques. Leather isn't as good because it'll take multiple leather clothing items to match one wool Parka in terms of insulation. It's good to have a backup crop growing cloth instead of dedicating it all to devilstrand because it grows slow.

It's a mod, the main issue is that hauling pawns reserve stockpile cells, so other pawns that haul the same type of item can't place it in the same spot. The problems is multiplied by the amount of hauling jobs. This is why, apart from harvest time I keep hauling jobs to bare minimum.

@SeanMacLeod; I got dismotivated with modding for RW, as the old 'established' section of the modding community are a bunch of egocentric arrogant twats and I unfortunately felt the blunt edge of their attitude. Coincidentally, most of them are also the volunteer staff on the forum!
That said, the forum is still kind of the centerpoint for modding in RW and with a bunch of incapable idiots like them running the staff section, I can't bring myself to use the forum and recieve all of that nonsense.
It has made me not want to work on any RW mods since.
On a side-note, the work is licensed in such a way anyone could fork it or pick it up and continue, as long as they credit me for the work I did.

so it seems dusters are the best value for material used but they're really heavy for their price
tuques are incredibly light for their price but they're not the most efficient use of materials
cowboy hats are about 10% less efficient than dusters but they're 2nd-lightest
I guess that if I wanted to convert textiles in to money I would make a bunch of cowboy hats, load a pawn up with them and send him to the next settlement over
also it's interesting how a cowboy hat is over 300% the work of a tuque but only 44% more valuable

Pretty sure Tynan doesn't allow you to set where trade caravans go to cut down on people trapping them in places where they can be killed "accidentally" and all their stuff stolen, like Dwarf Fortress magma traps. So if there's a caravan in your defenses, just retreat behind the walls until they leave.

Do I need this? Can I make shit like closing down prison doors and filling the room with gas with that one gas mine mod when the prisoner tries escaping with it?

What specifically is there for prison management? I want something that disables people but doesn't kill them and that one gas thing is the only thing I found, as well as some stun turret that the dude says kills people randomly anyway.

You mean Dubs Bad Hygiene? Dubswise is the guy who made the Mars total conversion mod, and Bad Hygiene is basically a standalone port of the hygiene system from that. He's very thorough, even if he doesn't really implement things perfectly (early versions of Bad Hygiene had pawns prioritizing hygiene above everything else, so as soon as they had to piss they'd drop anything they were doing, even mid-fight, and go to the bathroom, also he claimed that there was a bug that prevented pawns from facing the right way in the utilities but this is not the case if you know the vanilla code well enough). Like everything Dubs makes, it leaves no stone unturned and introduces a lot of micromanagement to your colony, whereas the Hygiene mod just adds two new buildings in a more vanilla-flavor implementation. The latter mod does have pawns take their clothes off to bathe, though, which Dubs doesn't do, and you have to configure clothing stockpiles carefully to make sure pawns have new ones to put on after.

Dubs is if you want an actual hygiene system that has the need to defecate/wash. Productivity lost from the added activities is barely noticeable.

Hygiene is a super-basic implementation that only has a need for colonists to wash and for some dumb reason makes you require to set up a bunch of dumb micro-managed clothing spots if you don't want them walking around naked after washing up.

Dubs is better if you want a more in-depth version, Hygiene is better if you want a more basic, vanilla-tier version.

You can sell raw resources like cloth, steel, wood etc but food NEVER is to be sold because its simply too important.
It is the one thing your pawns need to live - they can sleep naked on the ground and be fine albeit cranky but they cant go one day without food without malnutrition starting to kick in.

That seems to be caused by the tick that sends constituents to the mayor for meetings. I would assume that, somehow, every person in your colony had exactly the same mood level that happened to be the "don't ever send this colonist to the mayor" mood level, so it couldn't find anyone to send and threw an error.

How likely mayors are to run for re-election is influenced heavily by their mood when the election is held.

On the other hand, it gives you a way to play in a desert as a tribe. The only OP part actually is training shooting. If you care about time efficiency it's better to hunt in temperate biomes because fishing takes a lot of time, every fish has to be butchered for 20 meat(more time) and only one kind of fish gives a meagre amount of leather.
