I've always hated fog of war, in both Fire Emblem and Advance Wars, but god damn is ghost ship such a fucking fun map. Large-scale/ exploration fog of war maps are awful and tedious, but a small, contained map with defensive strategies is ludicrously fun.

Marcia is useful because she can fly past the barricade and kill the Horseslayer Halb in the top portion of the map, who will usually guarantee anyone else will die horribly on EP aside from Danved, heck I'd argue she's more useful than Kieran on that map

Danved and Makalov both provide good chip, both on the bulkier enemies and to make sure Marcia gets the Speedwing, helpful when trying to get up there quickly

And that's pretty much it (aside from Astrid who is terrible), it's not like the CRKs have a lot of units

I wonder whenever there'll be a Fire Emblem game set in a world that's not related to Marth's. Just clean the slate and start anew.

One of the reasons Conquest's gameplay is really overrated can actually be summed up with pic related. The maps in that route may certainly be more varied/have more thought put into them than in the other routes in Fates, but unit balance is still fucked to the point where the answer to most problems you encounter is "use Camilla". This trivializes much of the challenge and fun that could arise from having to come up with unique strategies. Granted, it's not quite as bad as Ryoma in Birthright, but it's still notably bad.

Also, it shares the same problem prevalent through Fates in that the level gimmicks (dragon vein) are pretty shit, even if the ideas behind a lot of the maps themselves are pretty nice, in theory.

So, it definitely has the best gameplay of Fates, and it handily tops Awakening as well, but it falls short of much of the rest of the series.

Any good ways to play awakening? In my playtroughs I always end up relying on 1 or 2 units to clear the map. Other units get left behind/ too weak

Pre-promoted units are often used to their fullest extent as a utility. Look at Titania in PoR, the shining example of pre-promotes. She can unequip weapons, tank fairly well, has counter for a low% chance to deal damage with no weapons and, if you use her to kill bosses, can keep up with your other troops and grow and still be viable endgame. She fills a niche as a mounted mage killer but otherwise is worse than the christmas cavs. It's up to you to think of strategies where your pre-promotes are useful alongside your unpromoted units.
And if you want a better strategy game, sure. Fire Emblem is very simple and often more about resource management than strategy

To be fair, as annoying as a restart is, once you know where and when the reinforcements come from, they're easy enough to thwart. Hexing Rod is based on RNG deciding if that unit is fucked or not, which is a hell of a lot more frustrating.

I always end up having to rely on those 2, like I try to use Miriel but god damn best I can do is manage one killing blow on her with her barely making it out alive and sometimes get 1 shotted on the first few chapters. And I swear to god everytime a character that is not Robin or Chrom levels up they gain 1 or 2 stats while Chrom and Robin always receive perfect 4 5 or 6 stats.

The strength and ability to solo the game of prepromotes and other similarly powerful units is almost always in direct correlation to game difficulty, it's why Marcus can literally solo the game in 7, yet cannot in 6 despite still being very good; people will mention growths, but it's largely because enemies are so much stronger and in more oppressive formations, and suddenly Marcus has gone from ORKOing everything with an Iron Sword to barely 2RKOing with his Silver Lance

Similar thing comes up in 6 among the top tiers; Rutger relies on dodging to get by lategame durability-wise (granted it's very high dodge rates but still) and needs to promote for his offense to become ridiculous (he's relying on the Killing Edge to ORKO before then), Miledy needs Speedwings to double in the Desert map and gets blown up by Magic, and even Perceval can have trouble taking hits from Manaketes in Endgame even though otherwise he's probably the closest thing to a "flawless" unit you can get

Compare that to someone like Raven; the worst that can be said about him is that his base class doesn't have 1-2 range, which is a roundabout way of saying he takes a few levels before he's raping everything that touches him rather than just raping the things that come within range

Does that make any of those three bad units? No, but in a game with lesser difficulty I very highly doubt they would have these issues or periods of stunted growth, all three need support to bring out their full potential and play as well as you can

There's enigmas to this rule, like RD due to it's availability system, but you'll find a trend like this in most difficult games in the series, even Conquest to an extent
