Yeah but I hear that the skill inheritances are pretty draconian in SMT2. Honestly, I find it hard to go back and play the older games after SMT4/A. I replayed Nocturne after SMT4A and was a bit rustled with how annoying the skill inheritance system works where you keep resetting until you get the desired skills.

Obscure story triggers would be a bit annoying, however. Not sure how much the encounter rate would matter as Nocturne has an insanely high encounter rate as well. It's not unusual that you'll get hit by a random encounter 1-2 steps after the previous one. And Estoma was useless.

It may be a bit harder to tell since there's no radar in DDS, but I've been replaying Nocturne and DDS back to back recently and I can say that they're the same. Combat is way slower in DDS however (mostly due to the slower speed and unnecessary stuff like over elaborate animations for when you crit) so it may feel like you spend a longer time in combat.

Time just moves slower in Tokyo. You'll find out later or it's your own fault for not finding out yourself.

At most, you should only ever mess with the money dlc if you're making your first playthrough, it's nice to be able to freely fuse whatever you want from the compendium.
There is little to no need for the other dlc grind quests until you're at the cosmic egg or just waiting for ng+ anyway.

Maybe the level dlc is excusable on your first playthrough to use the tomes on demons so that they learn their level-up skills.
