So I did a system transfer from a hacked o3DS to an unhacked new3DS because I wanted to carry over my NNID on the new3DS. However I forgot to back up my saves from all my games beforehand, stupid, I know. Is there any way to extract them back again?

They seem to be completely gone from the old 3DS's SD card. They're there on the new 3DS
s SD card it looks like, but all the games are corrupted in the 3DS software manager, dispaying no names and a file size of 0, even though they are there. I know the save data is in there, but is there any way to get it out again?

Oi do you guys know if there's some trick to playing burnt ps1 games on a slim ps2?

I've got a SCPH-77002, it's got freemcboot installed. Sensors are blocked.

I put PSXlauncher.elf on the memory card, start it up with a legit ps1 cd in the tray, swap for a burnt copy and press X but the disk just spins slowly and the laser doesn't seem to engage with it.

I learned that you need to stay in the same region with the backups you use, so I made sure to only use EU PAL backups. Still doesn't bloody work.

I could always go back to using OPL and running games over an ethernet cable, but I thought I'd be able to avoid the compatibility issues by using actual CDs. Anyone had this issue before?

Considering Japanese PS2 release had no voices and the very first instance of the game was made exclusively with British voices, that means that the original voice options are No Voice or British.
Japan only got voice acting in this 3DS version, but it's all based on the western PS2 version to begin with (and quite a bit on the shitty Android/iOS version, where the downgraded models come from for example).
As such personally I prefer the British voices, and while I love Jap voices in most cases (look at the undubs I made) I personally think the JP voices for DQ8 are underwhelming and voice actors are miscast for the most part. Koyasu as Dhoulmagus is the only one that stands out and only because he's doing "the DIO voice".
JP Yangus for example is absolutely terrible and worst cast in my opinion.
Naturally this is all subjective and you should form your own by looking at trailers of both versions.

As for release, you can play the current one which is already with orchestral music, english voices and mostly uncensored outfits. Only 3 outfits aren't fully uncensored in that version, which are the ones I'm working on now.
And the bikini and dancer are already finished for new release, just waiting until I'm done with the bunny (which I took new approach to fixing now).
You will be easily able to backup your save with JKSM from the currently available version and then import it to the new version once it's out.

And NTR patch for just the uncensored outfits will be distributed on GBAtemp in the restoration project thread obviously.

I was not aware of Japan not having voices. I know a lot of games from Japan that are made in English only, Silent Hill games, the originals at least, God Hand, and I think vast majority of Suda51 games were made in english first - Like Killer 7 or even Killer is Dead. Vast majority of FF fans prefer English voices because Squeenix really puts effort into them and has their own casting, almost always from stage and live actors, rather than just generic JYB/Yuri Lowenthal/Tara Strong/Nolan North/Troy Baker combo.
Naturally there are outliers with shit voice acting which are mainly low budget efforts like Type-0 mostly because Squeenix didn't expect it to sell well to begin with (and it didn't).

You need a flashcart for DS games.
Best you can get in CIA form is DSiWare games but that's it.
The reason for this is that Nintendo never made a DS loader for 3DS as they don't sell DS games digitally for DS, because they reserved that for PiiU for some jewish reason.

There's hardware reasons. You have to port DS games to the DSiWare platform and you need the source code to do it. In most cases it's a simple port though.

The reason it can't run GB/GBC natively for example is because it doesn't have GB/GBC hardware inside.

And I'm not talking about porting to DSiWare platform you retard, all Nintendo would have to do is make a loader, like the one they made for GBA.
They never made a loader for DS games, which is why we can't run them without a flashcart.
That's why people on GBAtemp are trying to make their own loader but the progress is staggeringly slow.

You don't understand about the console. DS games run at the root of the trust heirarchy, with no OS for cart I/O accesses. You can't intercept cart reads because there is no hardware there to do it. You have to patch the rom itself, and as nds-bootstrap proves it's nontrivial.
