Look at the ammunition name and its image.

APHE, a thing punching through thick armor with a boom on the head, is generally the best ammo if it pens, since it explodes inside and gibs all the crew.

Pure AP, without the boom thingy and without a filler/TNT stat, just punches through and does damage in its direct path cause fuck spalling. Same for APDS to some degree.

HEAT has constant pen. However, don't bother with it unless you have a short barrel, since your AP is more effective. Exception is for HEAT-FS with ridiculous pen.

HE is just that, HE.

Use APHE for general flanking/front pen shots, APCR and APDS for though to pen tanks, HEAT for short barrels and HE for SPAA/lightly armored targets. Pure AP is kind of broken and useless.

Honest question. How are German tankers so bad? They have statistically the best tanks out of any nation for practically every single BR bracket they fall into. They aren't as newb friendly as Soviet tanks, but they are statistically the best and can be the best so long as you deploy common sense.

I've almost unlocked the Tiger I E: should I ditch the Pz IV or the Tiger H? Or should I just skip it completely?

The Pz IV is still a very nice tank to have, and being inexpensive to pick for a respawn it usually gives me a fat second chance when otherwise I would have to return to the hangar, but moving from my Tiger H would mean being uptiered even more. What do you suggest /wtg/?

Bad armor coupled with bad turret traverse and an even worse hull traverse make it objectively a pretty horrible tank. Compared to its contemporaries the Panzer IV H and T-34-85 which both have better armor (even the T-34-85 I might say) and equivalent of better guns while completely outclassing the Chi-Ri II in terms of mobility. Did I mention that the tank is the size of a King Tiger?

The Chi-Ri II enjoys two things, the meme gun and the -10 depression. The gun works in short spurts and I suggest unloading if you're ever left with one shell after an engagement because the gun has a significant flaw, with that being the reload rate. While it's not a problem if you snipe or pace your reloads, it becomes a problem when you get hit and the crew decides to reload despite there being two shots left.

...and turns out I actually hit a pretty sweet spot even tho not optimal.
The terminal ballistics of this shot are interesting tho:
- After penning the hull side the shell actually ricochets downwards from the hull roof and explodes in the fucking neck of the driver, splashes shrapnel around killing all but one of the crew and blows up the floor fuel container.

I've never seen a shell ricochet inside a tank after the initial penetration before, that's just what made it interesting in my opinion.
