Tactical stuff is getting making so RULER REACTION doesn't always proc on an action. Only sometimes will rulers be able to just do something.

Also, with the new tools at your disposal, rulers are little bitches. Both Barrels does massive damage to them and then they run away. It's kind of sad actually.

So apparently overwatch and some graze shots do not contribute towards your end mission hit %. KInda fun finishing a flawless mission with no recorded hits as everything was killed with overwatch.

Yes, it works. They removed the CHANCE to hit that it had before and just flat out makes it damage or remove cover. Half WILL go down and full might be gone, or go to half.

It's an amazing tool since cover destruction is pretty limited, so having something that is only on a small cooldown is crazy good.

This is why doing any mission that has "intel package" is important. Getting free supplies, or a resistance mec, alloys and elerium. Map events all come from doing those missions now.

Iron Curtain is still probably the best one of that tier because it actually goes beyond your visual range. So you can activate a pod with it and now they have their movement cut in half and can't take shit for cover.

On one hand, having a more featured stealth part would be nice; playing complete missions on concealment and getting a reward (exp, material, etc) for it, more options from moving in and out of concealment (Cammo Cloaks, Ghost Armor)and so on. On the other you run into the problem of making an XCOM game too much about the stealth and that's where the problem of balancing the two aspects is.

You will want to try to sneak in as far as you can for the hack. If you get reveled then a timer will start (not visible) until you get a reinforcement. Hacking prevents them from coming. Hacking will stun everything for two turns, which you must then clean up.

Same map type as advent network tower, objective is to hack the control computer and then wipe out any remaining enemies. When you hack the objective it will stun all enemy units for two turns, so keep that in mind.

Deus Ex already solved that problem. Areas designed for stealth work well for combat as well, cover is cover and if someone wants to reload every time they get spotted that's fine.

The trick is to provide rewards for combat and stealth and that's not hard if you actually sit down and think about the systems at play. Hell, you could just have two different experience pools that feed into different skill trees for each class. This shit ain't hard if whoever is designing it actually likes both stealth and combat.

It would be pretty hard, esspecially right now. Pods are bugged and follow you/know where you are. 1.1 will make it so they can't know where you are and will stick to patrol routes. As it is right now, you are likely to have them run into you if they know they can flank you and they have enough movement to do so.

Be careful, take corner cover and make VERY wide movement. If it's extremely light, then it will be 2-3 single drones and three pods of three.

I just want the Long War feeling back. Choosing who gets to carry the sawn off was a mark of personality or at least a sign of preparation for a really difficult mission. Now every Infantry in the game has it at all times. Even as a 3gun fag I really dislike the lack of freedom in equipment choice in LW2. That third inventory slot is a tiny reparation for what they took.

Also if they'd done it right you could give that combat knife to everyone.

the only legitimate argument is LoS being buggy, and that's not a balance issue, it's a functional issue. That's going to be addressed regardless of your opinion on it, unlike subjective critiques like class balance/shivs/grenades/SPARKs/AR bosses. Statistics BOY. Sure 50% of the time a graze happens it COULD be a miss, but that's not the way reality works and you know it. Law of averages will try to make it 50% over time, but do you really want to take the chance that your luck will hold out and you will have more hits then misses.

I would rather 3 soldiers hit the 30% on a graze band, then to turn it off and have them 2 miss and 1 hit.

The only time that grazes start to become a problem is later on in the campaign when you shots are getting close to 100% and it rolls over that 100%, so it's still a graze.

It both hurts and helps and I really don't know what to make of it.

Over the course of your campaign it'll average out to 50/50. Just depends if you want to have more all or nothing on the accuracy roll, grazeband adds a gradient.

He's right about the in game archives. Nothing in the encyclopedia explains how to start countering the Avatar project, so far it's all come from outside sources. This is bad, it shows a complete lack of understanding of how people are going to try to approach the game and I expect better from people that want to start their own gaming company.

Aside from that, there are issues with the strategy layer, both from a gameplay perspective and just general mindset. It's a grind. Now you could go ahead and say "WELL DUH, IT'S A LONG WAR", but you still have to make the game fun.

LW1 wasn't like this. Every mission was important, for different reason, sure, you could skip something, but it had consequences for it, whether it was Aliens increasing their strength, or panic increase or a satellite being shot down.

This made it exciting and missions things you needed to be prepared for. This doesn't exist in LW2. Most missions are pretty much worthless and there is no consequence for skipping them, not even the force increases are that big a deal when you know how to manipulate the map to just move strength to a different region.

This makes things boring and predictable, with the game coming down to a race against a timer because XCOM is too powerful in the strategy layer.

How can it be a long war of going back and forth, when the game wants me to rush because the devs couldn't think of any other way to counter XCOM?

If Pavaonis wants to be succesful, they will need to realize the most important thing in a game is proper documentation as well as leading a player. Not necessarily hand holding, but giving the player just enough information to put the pieces together.

This is something the vanilla game does well. It introduces the resistance, the idea of regions and then puts up the blacksite and then the Avatar project and makes it known how to counter it. LW2 doesn't do this at all and the only reason people knew about this is beta testers.

No you idiot, the problem is that Law of Averages doesn't work like you think it does. It is a 50% chance. That's it. It's either a hit or a miss that rolled into a graze, but if you look at the actual statistical outcome, you will notice that one result is coming out over the other.

There is only a very small chance that a pure 50% hit/miss ratio will occur and it gets worse the more numbers you throw at it. Statistics IS how it works, people just apply illogical reasoning to statistics. They humanize them. It's the same as if I took 50% shots. I have a 50% chance of hitting, right? But it's wrong to assume that I will hit half of my 50% shots. It's not the way statistical averages work.

I'm going to contact the author of Perfect Information, so that he can add in your actual roll against the percentage. Then we can see how many shots from grazes ended up being hits or misses. It will always be one or the other in the majority and it will always vary significantly between games.

Been having a weird issue with LW2 when I finish a mission. Instead of the Firebrand return cutscene, it sticks the camera under the Avenger and stays there. Saving and Quitting just causes me to replay the mission (though my soldiers keep their earned XP and promotions). In other news, playing the same mission twice won't give you the same map.

I think I'm going to organize my haven advisers this campaign. Do you think Shinobis are the best for this? They have Phantom off the bat, so they can play the scout role in haven missions day 1, and not be useless when I'm forced to bring them back into XCOM to level them up.

Then how? I'm doing nearly every mission I get. I've got 4 full squads with mid-tier ranks struggling through everything I can get 80%+ inf or a boost on. So far I'm still just 3 regions in Africa, the only "special" mission I've gotten is one to destroy a relay that counted towards liberation. I do every "find a lead" mission too.

I also need materiel but I haven't gotten a single supply convoy mission in months, so I'm stuck with ballistics and Kevlar.

I swear suppression is broken in LW2. Peolple run and the gunner shoots, and then move a second time and now the gunner fires. People just sprint out of area suppression all the time without the gunner even reacting. And then other times he just starts hosing people down. So you are saying Firaxis paid for it through an alternative method. No matter how you look at, they employed LW studios to make content for XCOM2. This has given us Laser weapons that look very good (need to work on sounds though), some ayys that aren't just recolors (drones and the muton commander whatever, fuck the sectoid commander though), the LW perk pack, and now a full gameplay overhaul mod.
Every single LW mod pushes the boundaries forwards on where the modding community currently is, since they are a full studio and they have a line of communication directly with Firaxis. In the meantime we have gotten two good dlcs, and one very early meh one (but even that has value because they added the extra customization slots for everyone for free).

That is a pretty big chunk of content in one years time, besides all the modding stuff which is possible because they designed the game in mind for that.
If you throw in an expansion at the end of all that, X2 will already have received more content than XCOM1.
My only complaint really would be that some stuff that can probably only really be fixed on the devs side, namely broken LOS, has not been fixed yet. SPARKS need a re-balancing, but I don't really care about it that much.

Yeah, you have to make the charge in two parts, which unfortunately also reduces the damage output.

I had an enemy gunner use area suppression on my ranger, and the area extended on my technical who was taking cover near a tower. I broke the suppression by moving to the other side of the tower, outside of LOS, but the suppression was still active. Had to use other character to dash + command + flashbang the advent gunner.

It seems like area suppression doesn't break unless you activate the reaction shot, and since you can either avoid the reaction shot by moving out of sight or it just bugs and doesn't activate, there are times when you can't break suppression even if you wanted to.

Everything depends on what you're ripping from, but yes. Some models may require more or less personal effort.
NV Ranger armor, for example, simply doesn't have the proper cloth physics since something like that would've just imploded Gamebryo back then.

There are industry standards, and it's not like XCOM 2 is using some outlandish version of Unreal.

Either way, I'm hardly a pro at this myself, I'm still learning modelling.

Yeah. XCOM 2 shines so brilliantly when you get those rare moments of fighting ADVENT in the same building, and each group is easily capable of flanking the other. Most of the time it just turns into cross street firefights with le ebin two-three sentries in a squad with Ready for Anything.

Plus the AI cheats and knows where you squad is at all times so BREAK LOS rarely works.

Fights take longer now, LW2 has a bug where enemy AI is constantly closing in on your dudes even when hidden/out of LoS and maps are generally bigger.

As long as activating the objective triggers any kind of aggro it's balanced. Even if you sneak to the objective using it reveals you, and the EVAC takes time, time spent fighting.

It's not a bug, that's an intentional behavior of the base games AI. Pods will home in on you unless you are currently engaged in combat, in which case they will begin to steer away until combat ends. Problem is missions were never meant to be completely stealthed in vanilla, and this part of the AI wasn't tweaked by PI to accommodate the heavier reliance of that mechanic in certain missions. And the new alert mechanics make this AI behavior somewhat redundant as well.

It's a simple checkbox in the helmet part archetype or whatever, i did the same thing for my mod(rage helm) the only "issue" is that if you apply a helmet that forces a character to use the default head, and then change it, the default head stays until you reload the character(as in, exiting and entering the armory to make the game load the face it was using before and whatever), it's just a visual glitch though, it doesn't actually change a character's look.
