The amount of detail and effort put into the symbolism and homage in Bloodborne to Lovecraft makes me want to forget about every other From game. The same effort just isn't there.

It's better than 50/20 at least, 392 x 404 AR (I made a small mistake before).

It's free 12 extra damage before gems and attack multipliers. It would also be better for the HMS if you get the 4 arc and focus on the physical attacks (even tricked). And also more visceral damage is always helpful.

Saif is probably better, but I do like the simplicity of just having a high ar kin killing machine. Moonlight is my main weapon so I can probably get around not having Tonny out for so many encounters. You'd think that From would increase its durability though considering how fast it drops.

Everything is viable, and the charged R2 can destroy a lot of things in the game. If you like the moveset there isn't any problem with using it.

How much does Physical Defense do in this game? I play offline and was going to just spam levels on my main so I can try everything out (mainly arc/blt stuff) but don't want to be an invincible fuck in the process. Midway through NG+ at lvl 80 currently.

when i first got to the hunters dream I assumed that I was the hunter the title was referring to, so when i found the abandoned workshop and gained insight(which i interpreted at the time as the player seeing something he shouldn't) it fucking blew my mind because obvs the character had never seen the place before, yet it was in the dream, so i realised that what i thought was like a weird mental state the player went into to get stronger was him literally walking about in an unknown persons dream.

When I discovered FRC Chalice dungeons

Apart from Gascoigne, Gehrman, Ludwig, Orphan, all my favorite bosses are either Chalice-exclusive bosses or also found in chalices

I don't really like playing through story mode multiple times because I have it memorized by now

But chalice dungeons are always fresh- no mucking about doing things I've already done, just boot up a fresh Chalice and have exploration and surprises waiting for me. Sure there are repetitive aspects, but less so than Story Mode.

The next soulborne successor probably won't have Chalices and it makes me sad

Anyone know of a good FRC Ithyll glyph to farm cramped casket gems?

I want those radial 26% beasthunter gems for my HMLS because they are basically like nourishing gems vs beasts. I already know where to find triangle ones (3qhunh66, bonus area before L3 lamp). There is one glyph but the casket is guarded by a hunter and it's a huge pain to farm

Anon who made that chalice here. I think you're better off hunting other enemies that have the red aura. When I went to that bonus area to farm those caskets their blood gem ratings only went up to 17. As you can see here I managed to get a rating 18 gem from a scourge beast that had the red aura, in lower loran root.

Most enemies tends to drop gems of other effects but it's more rare. In that isz chalice I managed to get a triangle rating 18 beasthunter gem but from one of the undead that follows the ritekeeper.

only buffed scourge beasts drop the rank-18 beasthunter gems regularly, and I don't know of any glyphs where you can find red-buffed scourge beasts that are not in Loran (where they only drop wanings, which caskets do not drop anyway AFAIK)

The Beasthunter/Kinhunter primary effect is a Loran thing. Basically, any enemy in Loran that doesn't have an override primary effect will be able to drop Beasthunter/Kinhunter gems.
You can't have Hunter as a primary and a secondary at the same time, though.

Watchers can drop up to 32.6%, but you still have a point. I think it's way too much trouble to go through the effort of getting Hunter gems. Highest you'll get is 32.6% from Watchers, and then some 27.7% gems from Hunters/Beasts. Normal temperings are way better, for far less effort too.
If you want to take advantage of Kin/Beast weaknesses, you can always just use Fire/Bolt Paper anyways.

You can mix a beasthunter gem with your best 24.8% abyssal bolt ATK UP gem, and the beasthunter gem is effectively like adding another bolt gem but at 26.7% (or 27.7% if you're willing to farm a *lot* of regular enemies or bone ash hunters; 32.6% if farming for triangles from watchers)

And it's extremely effective on split damage weapons like the holy moonlight sword or the wheel, as another anon said. You can absolutely destroy bosses like HBLB, Hot Dog and Laurence with these gems, as long as you're not doing pure physical damage

I think the only reason it was possible for him to drop it was because there were those caskets in the same chalice so they added to the possibility of beast/kin hunter gems the undead could drop.

Well if you are right about the enemies around the caskets dropping casket gems, then I guess it would be possible for the kirkhammer hunter in v3krwpyp to drop a beasthunter gem (even though he is in Ithyll not Loran) because he is near to one? There is another casket outside and downstairs in a cave in that same bonus area.

Not sure if regular hunters can drop the same gems as bone ash hunters though. I thought they all just dropped random gems from the area's drop pool, only hunters can do ratings of 16-18 instead of just 15-17. BAHs are just most common and have the least health

I even could do it with the collapsed Saif. I farmed her like 100 times and I'm pretty sure I got one 27% beasthunter radial from her, because I remember thinking "oooh so blue" when seeing the icon for the gem. Anyway, yeah check out that glyph. She is incredibly easy to farm if you've got the HMLS. Just do a charged R2 and then the R2 followup; both will backstab her, and your visceral will finish her off. She cannot even fight back at all. I had her dropping rank 18 murky and dirty and radiant gems; seemed to dropping everything except for the DLC gem types.

If Isz Watchers can drop Pulsing gems, it technically means that the Pulsing primary effect is part of the Isz drop pool. And if that's the case, then yes, Isz hunters should be able to drop them. I know it's a primary for Loran, so if worst comes to worst you can just farm BAH (Radials), Cainhurst Knights (Triangles), or Wheel Hunters (Wanings) for the primary effects, and then gamble with a secondary effect that isn't Odd Fire/Bolt.
I'm trying to farm a Cainhurst Knight in an Isz chalice to see if they drop Beast/Kin gems and to see if that primary is part of the Isz pool, and who knows? Might come across a Pulsing on the way. I bought this game for $20 early last week, really admire the setting and atmosphere, it's immersive as all hell, I'll occasionally just wander and move the camera around examining the architecture and all of the other nice details. it has pretty good gameplay, granted I went through a hell of a learning curve for a new player to the souls series but I eventually caught on after running through central yharnam a few times. people weren't kidding when they claimed this game wasn't easy. I beat the first two bosses kind of quickly with Gascoinge giving me trouble with his speed compared to the lumbering enemies I killed before him. beat him eventually and I moved on to old yharnam and found the blood starved beast. I almost quit the game because of this fucking thing. my only mistakes would be dodging away from it and he would grab me and bite my head off, killing me in one shot. that made up about 90% of deaths to him, the other 10 being from poison. I beat him on what I would guess to be the 13th try. I felt so good after I finally slaughtered that ugly cunt. I get it now, why this game and series has such a following. I'm already considering doing NG+ after this play through.
