Just played a comp game where one of our healers REFUSED to actually heal anyone because we didn't use the exact team comp he wanted.

God damnit, pissed me off so much.

He literally stood behind people who were low on health and told them on voice chat that if he wanted them to heal them they should have done meta.

Remind me again why bastion is considered unviable on attack/bad in general? Especially if you have a rein, Most of bastions kit is arguably only just below 76's, and is as effective (if not more) than McCree. Sure, if you have a peanut for a brain and sit in turret mode on the payload or at the objective and never move you deserve to be shot, but his recon mode kit is similar to soldiers, albeit a tad worse, that is made up for with proper sentry mode positioning

I just had a game where our soldier told me I was shit and I had gold eliminations, silver objective time, gold healing, and silver damage as luccio.

I play rein a lot and people get angry at me if my shield goes down and I start swinging.

Like the shield lasts forever and enemies can't just walk through it if they are that close.

The difference between Bastion and Soldier is Bastion's optimal play requires him to sit completely still. He offers no utility for his team, he can't outrun threats, he can't outheal their damage because he's easily interrupted, even menial poke that is constant is enough to force him to leave his position and waste time not shooting things.

Bastion is only good for cheeky attack strats to bust open a defense, by making their Rein shit himself and then do nothing because the surprise is ruined.

Also, you talk about Soldier's rocket as if 120 burst damage is inferior to 120 DPS that requires you to sit still.

You really ought be be competent with every hero so if your team needs something you can do the job correctly.
Make some allowances for play style of course, like I'm shit with single shot hit scan like McCree and Widow but I do well with spread hit scan like Tracer or Reaper, but over all I am far more comfortable with projectiles. So if I absolutely had to play hit scan I'd go with Soldier, but if forced to I could still do well enough on McCree because I know how to manage his abilities and how he's played even if my accuracy isn't exactly pro
