Ninja is the only one that has true utility skills, and it's the most useful. Especially in a group with a DRK main tank that wants to optimize. People like dragoon because of its crit buff and the damage buff it can provide your ranged dps, but I don't think it's as "useful" as ninja, it's just powerful.

You used to just be able to edit the text of the logs but they have supposedly fixed that. I'm sure there's other ways but I don't know enough about computers. Fflogs can be a decent indicator of whether someone is underperforming, and afaik it's accurate for speedkills, but trying to get like top 10 player damage for a given fight is almost worthless because of AST buffs. You can't exactly turn lead into gold, but catering to a competent player that's part of a competent group will catapult their damage into the fucking stratosphere. You'll still have to do a bunch of pulls and get lucky with crits/balance draws to get a super high ranking, but giving a decent-ish player an orange parse is ezpz.

There's plenty of really skilled people who do incredible damage, make no mistake, but you gotta take everything you see on fflogs with a humongous grain of salt.

I think you can make an argument that AST catering isn't really cheating, it's just not in the spirit of "the game" (the game here being dps rankings, not ffxiv itself). As for why people out and out cheat, idk. Some people probably do it because they are desperate to "win," maybe others chest to expose what they see as a bankrupt system. Hard to say. You shouldn't obsess over it so much, if you're that guy posting his warrior scores those are very good man. You can keep trying to improve of course, but don't do that at the expense of the rest of your enjoyment of the game.

When it was first released, pre-nerf Titan HM would kill scores of people due to a combination of lag, Landslide and Weight of the Land.

Get in position and not overlap your circles while also not eating a charge. If you see the first Soar you will probably also see the Demon's Claw -> Wave Cannon after it. Healers don't get marked. People aren't surviving two circles, so it requires people to actually pay attention or actually keep to the positions they call

Soar is basically 3 AoE lines that originate from the boss in the center of the arena, followed by the same AoE lines coming from the boss and some clones from the outside of the arena. During the outside -> inward soars, 6 players also get targeted for AoE circles, so you have to spread out properly to avoid clipping each other and to avoid standing in the Soar AoEs themselves.

I'm bad at explaining, but it's a very easy mechanic to learn and master.

Honestly the only things that should be tripping people up are the second soar and tethers, and those are easily done with even a small bit of communication. First soar? Skip it. Wild Charge? Tank invuln CDs it while you burn him. Most of the groups I've seen not skipping first soar are either super low on personal DPS or have a lot of MNKs/casters who don't boost raidwide damage. Still, not skipping with six DPS no matter the comp is pretty abysmal.

There are 2 soar patterns, one which splits the arena into 6 quadrants, and one which splits it into 2. The 6 quadrants one is braindead easy to handle, the 2 quadrants one is like... 0.5% more difficult because things get kind of tight between the AoE markers and the Soar marks.

You can, in one pattern. He has two, a very evenly sliced cake and then two safe spots. In the very nice pattern that people STILL FUCK UP, you can only manage one circle per safe zone. In the larger more interesting pattern where two mirages dash together, you have two safe zones and fit your circles in properly by using a braincell and not overlapping. Needless to say this requires competence from the pugs and they'll screw that up, too

The way my friends and I have been doing it is to kind of nudge 1 set of each tether colour to either side of the boss/arena after Southern Cross. So you wind up with a fire and ice tether on west, and the same on east. Coordinating from there is pretty easy, even without voice.

Honestly, it's really easy because the rules of every mechanic you see are all handled very similarly to past mechanics you've already seen. Even with tethers and broken seal, nothing is complicated. The fight is tuned for its minimum ilvl but it also allows you to just solo tank the entire thing and with 5 DPS you skip a mechanic even at minimum ilvl, with current gear 4 DPS pretty much do
