So how do the cannons and gatling gun stack up against each other?
I've never used the church cannon and i've hardly experimented with the gatling. Are they fine on strength builds? do you need good bloodtinge investment to make them effective?

I like Ludwig's Rifle now. At first I didn't see the point, since it just seemed like a weaker version of the blunderbuss. But now I see that it has like 2x the blunderbuss' range

Is the game enjoyable without any of the online features?

Yeah, the online system is infamously shallow in BB. You really won't miss out on much at all. Game is fucking fantastic though, don't pass it up now that it's super cheap to get a hold of.

It's mostly a PvE experience, don't worry. Unless you're interested in clocking in an additional 20ish hours per character to do repetitive dungeons in order to get your character PvP ready, you won't be missing much at all.

Imagine playing Dark Souls in offline mode, it's about the same.
Except without PS+ you lose the access to free access to chalice dungeons generated by the other players. The dungeons you generate yourself will cost you ritual materials, which you'll have to farm.
You should be able to finish all the fixed chalice dungeons without much trouble. But farming the F/R/C's, the very endgame, where the best weapon enhancing gems drop, will be problematic.

Definitely get GOTY, because the DLC almost doubles the amount of weapons and "spells" available to you. And the DLC weapons aren't as boring as vanilla ones, which are mostly slightly different variations of the same cleaver/sword.

That's just stupid. They're not "+% damage to players" they're just as useful in PvE as they're in PvP. He'd need those gems if he decides to go to NG+6. Which is all there to do without PvP and unlimited spelunking with PS+.

How do I build for arcane for sub 100 pvp/coop while investing into a secondary stat like str or skill? All the while keeping the meta 50 vit. My impression of arcane is it needs a really high stat so this seems infeasible.

50 ARC is good for weapons and decent for tools.
Unusually, ARC's tool scaling softcaps at 70, so if you want to focus around the use of tools, shoot for 70.

Why would you do that? Weapons with innate split damage would require you have 50/50, and you won't reach it sub 100. At least not without some big sacrifices in the other stats. And elemental gems remove physical damage, so str and skl don't matter.

Chalice dungeons usually have three layers. Lower Pthumeru has four and Root chalices can have four.

Once you get to 30 Vit you should just pump Arc. You should have at least 30 or 40 by now.

Also upgrade your weapon. You can get a weapon to +7 or 8 before you even kill Rom.

You could be doing a tiny bit better than %8.4 on the radials, since Hotdog drops up to %10.5, but yeah.

I've personally had shit luck getting the flaming weapons dudes to drop fire gems, but since you're in Lower Pthu you're in the position to try.

I'd rather cut over to Loran and farm there, though. The Old Yharnam beasts and Silverbeasts there drop pretty good gems, even though they don't seem to be listed in that doc, oddly.

I got one of those guys to drop a cursed +19.7% fire gem when I was just clearing out the dungeon normally earlier, but it has HP drain and I can't stand HP drain. Now I've got the eye rune and I'm farming them and they aren't dropping anything.

But yeah hot dog gave me the two worst possible gems both times; +8.4% fire and +phys up on low health. The secondary effect is totally useless. I got the 13.5% one as a lucky drop when clearing out hintertomb

BB gets more damage from str than arc, and quality/skill has much more weapons than benefit from it. If you want an arcane BoM flat arcane gems are probably better than 50 arcane that will give only 35 AR.

I have 7-8 +10 weapons and didn't even do NG+, so don't worry.

Besides I used BoM and cane in the most endgame chalices as well, there aren't any weapons that are objectively better than them in what they do. But some people prefer rakuyo over BoM as if they are similar weapons simply because both are dual blades.

Defeated Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen last night, and after going through Defiled Chalices Orphan was the biggest pushover. I didn't even need to parryscum him, just danced around and whacked him to death. The babby Great One ending was neat though.

What's the appeal of Rakuyo? Damage isn't that good, attacks are slow, it consumes unholy amounts of stamina. Is it cosplay tier weapon?

It's one of the best weapons for coop if you are running a Skill build. The damage is fine and it is fast. Unlike the BoM you can use Fire/Bolt Paper on it and melt bosses.

Is it just me or is the scaling of weapons kind of unbalanced? For example the pizza cutter has a 1.1 str scaling while beast cutter has 0.6 str and 0.3 skl. So a 50 str pizza cutter has a higher ar than a 50 str 50 skl beast cutter. Also beast cutter has way less base dmg. (Maybe my source is outdated though)

do that many arcane people actually solo all their way to the FRCs at only level 98? I'm playing my first ARC build right now and the gems I need to make my weapons powerful enough to kill these depth 5 bosses in under 100 attacks are all deep inside the depth 5 dungeons already. I had a hell of a time dealing with Ailing Loran Abhorrent Beast. And 2 of the gems are in ithyll, meaning I have to go through Lower Loran and beat Loran Darkbeast with my weak old gems (except for one waning I can get on layer 3)

You can do it. Once you've played the game long enough, it really isn't that hard. ARC builds have elemental weaknesses and Hunter Tools to take advantage of too. I honestly didn't find it anymore difficult that doing the same for other builds.

At this point, you're better off farming watchers, either as a layer boss or through finding them in the main area, preferably the ones with the red aura. Just remember that hunter tools are your friends.
