I don't consider any FE after 3 to feel "dated" to be honest.

FE4 introduced the Weapon Triangle, faster animations than 3, turning off animations entirely, easier damage calculation, full movement and attack range squares. Pretty much all the necessities you need to feel comfortable. The only thing missing is the Press X to see all the enemies' range that was introduced in PoR but it isn't a deal breaker.

Two of those, Othin and Brighton you get them within the first 5 chapters of the game. Britghton is a total tank, uses axes and has 7 movement. Othin gets a prf range 1-2 weapon that's essentially a Tomahawk with 50 uses. In this game you also get the Hammerene within the first few chapters and it has 5 uses instead of 3.

thing is that she's a range unit. If she doesn't get targeted during the enemy phase she only gets -1 after one use which is very minimal. She doesn't always need to rely on it, you can alternate between it and Mjölnir if she can afford not to kill. Lightning tome really shines when you forge it once and/or in conjuction with Heartseeker and attack stance (essentially 3 attacks without enemy phase). If Nyx has lightning equipped and someone else carries her attack with attack stance during your turn Nyx will attack twice without receiving penalties.

Buying skills online and trying out different strategies pushes the game's potential. Reclassing units or merely avoiding the royals pushes the game to new heights. Hey, need to run something by /feg/ real quick. We're kind of debating what to do for Lyn's backstory when she's either Eliwood or Hector's wife. The problem is... we kind of don't want to fuck up her character, but it's also not very important to us the reason why. At the same time, we don't want it to be hokey as fuck to a degree it makes the player roll their eyes.

Note that in game we're probably just going to be vague with it, but I want /feg/'s opinion.

NOTE: If you have a better suggestion, offer it. Do note that Lyn has to show back up in Sacae to get stomped on by Zephiel.

1 - The Original: Lyn can't stand the abuse, the feeling of being ostracized and the general feelings of being treated like shit by everyone except her husband. She wants to do what her mother and father did, and when Eliwood in fact doesn't want to leave, she can't bear the idea of staying around in this torturous hellhole even if she does love her husband and son.

2 - The Bandito: Lycian lords oppose the dirty half-breed, they send assassin's after her at a time when it's only her (and possibly Roy) she can fight them off, but they reveal that they'll kill Roy if she doesn't leave. She exiles herself to Sacae and wanders the plains until Zephiel shows up to fuck shit up
3 - The Lisa Lisa: Like the Bandito, Lycian lords oppose the dirty half-breed, Maybe her honor is challenged in a duel to the death, maybe if we've lost all sense and want to REALLY fuck with the tone someone tries to rape her, the reason isn't important, the result is that she kills someone pretty high ranking. And there's going to be hell to pay. She would rather leave and spare Eliwood and Roy that suffering than stay and force them to protect her
4 - The Hackjob: We never bring it up, we always leave it vague and if anyone suggests a theory, even if the theory was that she needed to go tap dancing with the power puff girls, we say it's exactly right, and they followed the exact train of logic we left behind
