I love attempts of modders to add more RPG elements to SNORKER.

Shoker mod for Clear sky was my favorite, but then it was abandoned.

Perks would be so good, especially if they wasn't PERCENTAGE HELL and actually did some cool stuff.

Or, for example, adding some really cool quests that could change how Zone works. In my wicked mind it looks like this — Sakharov gives you a quest to do some shit in X18, you go there, something terrible happens and all dangerous mutants suddenly double the population.

Snork, burer attacks on bar. That would be neat.

Also, something triggering full scale Monolith advance would be nice too. Imagine Monolith pushing and trying to capture every hole.

I had a small idea how you could make artifacts display information about their properties from very low to very high (without using any numbers or percentage). And if you wanted to know the exact numbers of certain artifact, you'd have to have it analyzed by scientists.

That's actually neat, good idea. Sounds achievable with something like Warfare in mind.

Not a competition I think. CoC team seem intent on harder gameplay as an option, not Misery port. MDT will do jack and shit, they can't release anything anymore. CoM dude seems to be heading in his own direction with CoM 1.0 just a starting point.

In other words, looks like we'll have CoM 1.0x as bugfixed Misery port, Dark mode in CoC as harder gameplay mod, and whatever Rainford makes out of the CoM base.

"Official" Misery port is irrelevant with CoM out there and maintained by russkies who can actually release code often.

I recently started playing CoC with AO after beating all vanilla Stalkers, and while CoC is an amazing mod, there are 2 things that kinda makes it less fun from me
First would be lack of a fast travel system like in CS and CoP. It was a sweet spot between not breaking immersion and saving the player some tedium.
Second would be a lack of interesting quests or some story mode, even a small scale one. I don't really want to play the questline from SoC again, especially that it would make a lot less sense in CoC.
Are there good mods for that?

When you have as many weapons that StCoP has then there is no need to make themed versions of the same guns to distribute to different factions. You have enough to give each faction weapons unique to their own with only very little overlap needed. Just my two cents.

Here, I'll throw you one more clue: the upgrades all work. He disabled the property display with a 2-line change because he got tired of people complaining of a change brought in by darryl123 for CoC, not CoM. Darryl's change fixes the bullshit that CoP has been feeding you for years on what upgrades actually do like saying +10% reliability when the upgrade actually does like +1%. So people started to whinge not realizing that cop has always been lying about the values - for eg Misery that doesn't have the fixed displays. Rainford got tired of the whinging and disabled the property display, not the actual upgrade itself.

Anon's link to the yadisk "fix" restores the old, inaccurate upgrade displays. Use it to get your "fixed" inaccurate upgrade display if it bothers you.

CoM is quite a neat bit of modding, especially impressive for one guy's work even if he's using a bunch of stuff from elsewhere. Whinging about textures not being removed is just that, whinging. Do the fix if it bothers you so much, Alun's got a tool to help you.

The STCoM guy is putting in some work, so it should be good once he's done and there's a decent translation for it which shouldn't be hard to do once it's stable.

I couldn't get more than a couple of hours into Misery 2.x, but CoM is fine after quite a few hours. Things I learned:
- The default sawn-off can shred leather jackets and even do damage to the lightly armed military in the southern maps esp if you use slugs.
- 25-40% condition weapons don't seem to jam as much as in vanilla so use those seemingly busted weapons you keep finding.
- Some vendors will buy busted weapons, for eg Librarian at the CS hidden base will buy some shitty condition stuff. But you won't make much from it.
- The repair system is very (too!) complicated and you will spend too much time trying to decide which of the many items to buy. But it makes more sense after a little bit.
- It's cheaper to buy a new weapon and maintain it than to fully repair a really low condition weapon. So either buy a new gun or repair something that's at 30-40% condition yourself and then maintain it.
- Do the quests, the money and rep gain are worth it. Not having played DrX before, they're a decent variation from CoC.

Dynamic news in CoC is good shit. CoC a-life does shit that's not in the games and you wouldn't even know of if not for the news messages. I like how the CoC version is more directly fed from a-life actions than AMK's was.

Took back the pumping station from a bunch of bandits earlier after getting a message from CS about being attacked. Walking through was pretty cool, you could see where CS had been attacked by a bunch of dogs and had survived but just barely and after losing a bunch of folks - but then succumbed to the bandits. One of the bandits had even looted most of the dead.

Cool shit that just happens in Stalker due to how a-life works but would never happen in most other games.

Barkeep at the 100 Rads bar in Rostok is also a trader. Rostok in general is a nice place to use as a hub since it's pretty much safe as hell, plenty of stalkers, has the arena, and is generally the center point of the game, meaning you can get to anywhere from it.

There're many other traders. The Bar for eg once you open a path there after Agropom.

Use stashes and blue boxes to store your stuff. The blue box in the Garbage hangar where you helped Seriy is a good centrally placed one to stash stuff until you have to head to Yantar much later by when the Bar is a better location.

Also, you don't need much if you use the ammo your enemies are using. So, 150-200 rounds of 5.45, 30-40 rounds of buckshot, some little pistol ammo, 10 healthkits and bandages. A few artifacts.

I have 3 tasks left, one is to bring this flame artifact I got at the Devil's Encampment anomaly north to some stalker on Skadovsk, another collect my reward from killing a Monolithian at the Scorcher, and the last task I got was from Doc in Swamps where he gave me the key to the hotel. I figured I could have just killed Doc for it, and also, Wolf is immortal for some reason, so I had to buy a PKM instead of putting him 6ft under.

It's really why everyone uses a SEVA. SEVA also has completely nonsensical durability in CoC for a fucking HAZMAT suit. It should be the best suit, but it should also be really expensive to maintain, forcing the player to use other suits when not hunting artifacts.

Stay the fuck away from fire anomalies, and get a Svarog, one of the things that used to kill me in Ironman were random fire anomalies here and there where you didn't expect them, you can see the other types very easily. The fire ones will fuck you up hardcore even if you wear a Mica on top of a fully upgraded SEVA because Mica has the -2 penalty that will make you burn to death.

Oh, and anomalies like the earthquake anomaly in swamps will also instakill you if you so much as touch parts in the cracks of it. Just stay the fuck away from fire anything until you have upgraded gear.

You don't understand, the CoC install I had was literally easier than vanilla. I'm pretty sure one of the addons I used fucked up the AIs aim or something. I was taking on 10+ groups of miliary and mutants with starting gear, and they could barely hit me when I was out in the open.

Yea, its like 1 grave of a bullet, maybe like 1/10 of your health, could make you bleed out. Bandages cost 400 and thats like an entire 3-5 man sqaud worth of loot. They never carried med supplies on them either. The radiation was the same and you couldnt tell it was there until you were in it. If you walked super slow you could get barely any by stopping on the edge but instead youre running right into it on a normal pathway and dying because its like 1k to fix yourself. Basically you replay the same fight a few times so you dont get hit early game to save enough for something better then a pistol because you need to be too close for shotguns.

As for money, yeah it's pretty damn tough. The lootmoney addon is helpful for maintenance and ammo, but enemies aren't dropping too much. I turned on full alife to see if it'd help.

I'm still well in hobo phase as a loner using Rostok as a base, and still have my default Toz and Makarov. I managed to buy the entry-level duty suit. The hangar bandits fucked me up after i took a ton of them out, but the duty guards killed some of them so i managed to loot the bodies.

Quite a few places have some nice loot, especially for starters.

Cordon in CoC notably has a 100% condition AKS-74 in one of the rooms with multiple boxes of matching ammo beside it and quite a few grenades nearby. Bandit base also has a fully fixed AK with ammo in it as well ripe for the taking.

Make quests, kill, loot, hunt animals, search for the artifacts, sell broken weapons (shit way), loot stashes, do Arena.
There are a lot of options. You can easily make at least 50k in two in-game days.
Stalkers don't but some traders do. Sidorovich, Barman, Owl and others should buy broken weapons.
You also can deliver weapons in bad condition to stalkers, but they won't pay you shit.

Because AO at times makes none..

For example SVU doesn't use it's own upgrade tree, but the SVD one. No more adjustable zoom, and no integrated silencer.

Another one is the possibility to "upgrade" Pernach from full-auto to 3 shot burst...

And I'm guessing there's lots of other things wrong...

Hunters kit increases allows you to get extra stuff from looting mutants; coal stove is useful for cooking meat. It's better than the gas one for usage in open field, because coal is lighter. Field cooking kit works like one-time use coal stove. Shovel is useless for anything but repair.
Also, you can use epipen/cocaine/caffeine and other stuff to carry more and tire less; first two have a very drastic effect.

Wew. Okay friend, I'll explain this to you since you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Normal Stalkers have an eye_range (how far in meters they can see) and eye_fov (how large their field of view is) of 150 and 90, along with a transparency_threshold (how well they can see through bushes/trees/reeds) of 0.6 (higher = more obscuring).

Zombified Stalkers have a massive eye_range of 200, an eye_fov of 120, and a transparency_threshold of 0.3 which essentially gives them perfect vision through any amount of brush.

Meanwhile, their fire dispersion values are only 20 for walking, and 15 for standing still, which is actually pretty accurate. Compare that to Shadow of Chernobyl's base fire dispersions for Zombies which were a massive 100 (100x larger than the default spread for the weapon).


All of this combines to make zombified Stalkers objectively better than normal Stalkers at sniping the player for massive distances, even when the player is fully obscured by brush.

It's still a 32-bit application, if you've modded it to the point where it's trying to allocate more memory than it can actually address on load (it is large address aware, so ~4GB-ish), the game is still going to crash.

It'll keep doing it. Textures make a big difference and the engine is not efficient with loading. If you want to see exactly why and when you're crashing from memory issues, play the game with task manager profiling its memory use. You'll see it climb to that 4 GB limit and crash every time.

It looks like -noprefetch helps, but you could also lower your texture quality a notch and watch the memory usage drop 1 GB.

I originally changed the max_view_distance from 0.7 to a lower value and got a CTD, so I left that at normal and just nerfed the eye_fov significantly, and the eye range down to 80.

If it's 56 it seems fine, sound_threshold appears to be the value that triggers their hearing, and since I want them to be near deaf I'm going to bump it up to 0.9 and try that out.

With 20 eye_fov you have to be standing right in front of them for them to even see you, (which is how I want it to work, they don't have a large fov because they don't look around or comprehend their surroundings easily.)

That has to do with NPCs being hit before saves and player range towards NPCs as well as what >>166386279 mentioned, which definitely affects that latter.

For all practical purposes the way to avoid it is to save when not in close proximity to NPCs.

Meanwhile bandage removes 0.02 bleeding for 5 seconds, for a total of 0.1 bleeding restoration which is more than double that of the vinca, but also does it 5x faster so you take less health loss.

Its all about weight managment as Vinca weights nothing compared to bandages, and you dont even need that much wound healing in the first place. Some dont even bother with vinca or bandages and just use medkits but i find that a wasteful. Ofcourse armor upgrades and artifacts can make both obsolete, but i prioritize -rad and stamina artifacts over bleed.

just move rx_gl.ltx in Call of Misery/spawns/spawn/configs/ai_tweaks to Call of Misery/gamedata/configs/ai_tweaks.
Then open it up in Notepad++ (or preferred text editor) and double the check period value from 2500 to 5000

Voila, NPCs now throw grenades at a reasonable amount instead of becoming Black Scottish Cyclopes.

The good news is that 'not getting shot' is easy to accomplish. Use cover, scout out areas before blundering through them, and engage enemies when they're unaware and quickly overwhelm them, or take them from a distance. Even with decent gear, getting shot should be an OH FUCK situation where you need to take care of your wounds in the heat of battle instead of just lazily finishing the fight and maybe slapping on a bandage after if your wound hasn't already healed.

As a sidenote, are there any area of the game that were modified from their original state? Just wondering, since exploring is one of the best thing to do in STALKER and I saw that Agropom underground had been expanded, so I tried to explore and find some others area akin to that but haven't found anything. Did Jupiter Underground, saw nothing changed which saddened me, the labs don't seem to be different either but I'll admit I haven't went in depth into them.

The full a life mod doesn't do enough. There are so many campfires & areas that were made for stalkers & mutants to go that are barren, even with spawns set to 1.5 or higher.

Also they don't really move from area to area enough. I've never seen factions or mutants assault loner areas or spread accrost the map & walk down the roads & paths to different sites, 90% of entities just sit there at their areas until someone comes close enough to piss them off.

There's so much more that could be done compared to SOC's best alife mods.

The warfare update can't come fast enough.
