If you're playing ryu, guile, or anyone with a strong fireball game, back up until you're about halfway across the screen from eachother or further. Throw a LIGHTPUNCH fireball.

If cammy tries to jump over it and divekick, you can MEDIUMPUNCH shoryuken/flashkick/anti-air her. If honda tries to sit on you, you can also shoryuken/flashkick/anti air him.

The only way their jump attacks can beat you here is if you shoryuken too late or they use the attack before you throw fireball. Dont spam fireball, be unpredictable with your rhythm. This way, when they try to jump attack you before you throw fireball, you can shoryuken/flashkick/anti-air.

I have been watching street fighter 5 since its official reveal. I have seen this game go through a lot of phases and I was really hype for it. Now that it has been out for while and I have watched countless match footage, I cant say I would ever wan to play it. It just looks really bland to me. Crush counter is cool and I like some of the changes they made to characters like Bison but nothing in this game really looks like the real "Street Fighter 5" to me. Only fighting game I really care about anymore is tekken. Tekken 7 looks very fun but the combo length (multiple floor/wall breaks) and the animations of the rage arts really turn me off quite a bit. The animations for the supers really take me out of the game, especially since the animations for the characters by themselves looks better then the underwhelming cinematics.

I think fighting games should really chill with combos. I like combos as much as the next guy but I feel like some games would be better with shorter combos so you have more of a match to play.

What are your personal opinions on combos in fighting games? Should there be games with minimalistic or nonexistent combos?

I don't think multiple breaks in a single combo should be possible, but otherwise i don't mind the juggles in Tekken. You gotta realize that trainingboaring is very fun for a lot of people and Tekken has the most satisfactory hit feedback of any fighting game, so it's only natural that the game gravitates towards long combos. I especially love how short the matches are, it makes the whole rage system work so well.

gg's, the art of the psn special is alive and well. I never played +r, but overall i like the changes since it's making the game more neutral based (neutered raven, removing unblockables, zato nerfs in exchange for better neutral, etc) which suits me, and i only play raven to meme anyway. The only thing they got wrong was not removing elphelt completely, but even daisuke has faults. Blitz after attacking is going to be dope, I can read fucking mashers and punish them outright instead of having to do sick nasty yomi reads like back dahs dipper and shit.
