I've never played a nep game but I'm in the mood for a game with cute girls and I like some JRPG gameplay so I'm interested in nep 7. I have a few questions about the gameplay:

1) Is it one of those games where you pick one team of characters and stick with them or are you encouraged to change up your party for different boss fights?
2) Will I be OK if I just use the cutest characters?
3) Do you generally just spam your strongest attacks and heal or is there more to the gameplay?
4) Do you need to fight lots of worthless random enemies or can you just fight mostly boss fights?

I don't know what post you're quoting because it appears to be deleted. However, one thing real quick: It's not Neptunia 7. It is Neptunia V-2. As in Neptunia Victory 2, since it's the direct sequel to Neptunia Victory (remade on the PC as Re;Birth 3)

As for your questions..

1) You have different parties at different parts of the story. At one point, you are given the choice of playing through three separate scenarios, each of which have you playing with different parties from the pool of total characters in the game. Then the characters come together and you get to choose.

2) You can just use the cutest characters if you want when you have the choice. Or just pick the ones you like. You'll be fine.

3) You don't want to use your strongest skills in every battle because they take SP. A lot of the time you will be using "combos" which are regular attacks that you set up in the menu screen based on the weapon you have equipped and such.

4) You don't HAVE to fight lots of random battles, but you might find yourself under leveled if you don't. Most of the enemies are visible on screen and can be avoided.

Also, nep franchise isn't very merciful to people trying to speed through it. Killing every monster in a dungeon at least once is pretty much the minimum for a "comfortable" run.

If mainline games are purely defined by turn-based RPG gameplay, then no, 4GO isn't a mainline game and is a spinoff game.

If mainline games are defined by being part of the Hyper Dimension continuity since MK2/RB2 and released on Lastation home consoles (PS3, PS4), then yes, 4GO seems to qualify. The 4GO message boards and character profiles seem to heavily hint that the characters are the exact same ones we know from the previous games (K-Sha and Umio posts, UD Eggplant Farmer Arfoire)

Of course, anybody who isn't an autist doesn't believe only one thing or the other; otherwise SeHa would qualify as a mainline game. So once again, the final and correct answer is:

Turn based RPG combat has always been a mainstay of the series since HDN1, I don't see anything to suggest that Compile Heart would make the transition to Action RPG permanently. It's like saying Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a mainline game

I've already allowed the exception that it is indeed part of the mainline continuity (and anyone who argues against this is being dumb), but that's where it stops being a mainline game in spirit

Reminder that, if Plutia and Uzume were never meant to return for mainline games, then they wouldn't have built the permanent bridge between ultra and hyper dimensions or brought uzume back from the dead in the TRUE endings of the two games.

They could have easily left as it was and had uzume die and neptune and crew leave ultradimension forever, but they didn't. Hell, they could have even added an extra "good" ending where the bridge is created and uzume comes back from the dead, and simply not call them "true" endings. But they didn't do that.

It's clear from the start that plutia and uzume are going to come back for mainline games at some point, and 4go appears to be the one.

Anon, not everybody in MMO has to main a combat class. There are crafters and such, and they often sell items they make for money. Making people like Plutia and them be NPC crafters who sell things makes perfect sense and is completely in line with the way MMOs work.

Also uzume may be an NPC, but that's only because she's playing solo, so it's entirely possible that the neps will encounter her many times and she will have many lines.
