Tactics is an actual spinoff and your only real claim, but we both know that everyone considers Tactics mainline because of its popularity and there's no way to change that - bad example.

Tactics is not mainline, it's at best an extension of XII. In any and all packages that S-E has made for mainline it's excluded Tactics specifically.

Because Tactics is not numbered. That doesn't stop them from associating Tactics with a numbered title and promoting it as such (Ivalice Alliance). More importantly, it's considered mainline by veteran fans (even if it's not official) which counts for something - at least more than a mobile game's pop collaboration.
