Not my own life experiences but I've worked as a social worker in the past and I've seen adolescents with all kinds of messed up problems. In the vast majority of the cases, it's because of their shitty family life or lack thereof or something that happened suddenly in the family. It's just all too easy to tell these kids "you didn't have to do drugs" "you didn't have to become suicidal" when to them, they simply just can't see another way out. I feel it's the same for Goro, and I feel empathy for him, and I thought it was fair for the game to tell you that he was both a culprit and a victim because the decisions he made were wrong, yet you understand that he felt he never had a choice.
