It's amazing that it's popular. It's such a shitty, boring game. The spreadsheet isn't the issue, the issue is that every single available task can be mastered in 3 seconds flat and then instead of there being progression, it's just doing the same action on a 1 minute loop for hours upon hours. Even WoW combat at level 1 is more exciting than that.

Turns out the trickster disconnect bug is a known issue that affects many people and there are no known solution beside waiting until shortly after maintenance where it apparently becomes stable for about 2 weeks.

I came back recently and while the game isn't dead in the strictest sense of the world, it really FEELS dead, and that's more than enough for make people throw out those exaggerations. The main cities feel like ghost towns, queues take from several minutes upon hours to pop and the only chat zone that seems to have a fair amount of activity is the housing chat.

So what's the best mmo coming up that does a lot with crafting? Apparently Albion is supposed to be good for that in that your whole playstyle can be exploring the nuances of crafting. It makes it so you can't use any of the dragoturkeys (I think it also disables zaaps, not sure, so you have to use the canoons to get anywhere and walk for a long time). Additionally, you can't party with someone of a nation at war.

The mechanics are simple: if you see someone at war with your nation, you can beat them up if you can click on them fast enough. That's pretty much it. You gain pvp points and fame which affects your pvp ranking (unprovoked pvp gives you infamy but you also get pvp points) and allows you to buy shit gear that's basically only usable in pvp. There's no battlefront, no objective, nothing to gain or lose (well, that one area which is captureable by beating an NPC boss on whatever that island's called - poop island in french, something like squid island or whatever in english).

You're an idiot. There's practically no change to the previous stat system. They reworked it by removing some skills like passive regen but everything is still the same. No one is fucking stupid by taking long distance damage when all their skills are close distance.

Wrong. The previous skill system is also limited. You can only level ~8 skills previously, now you don't need to level anything but you're still limited to skill slots. It's practically the same since you only get 12 slots which you won't use for all spells since you want the other skills.

Are you dumb? Normal fights give 50-100 kamas.

3 - waste time killing mobs until enough keys were dropped
So much fun, most parties disbanded before the 3rd option.

The server is alright, I like how they made the transition from renewal content into the server plus the quality of life changes and some custom content. That said, RoM doesn't bring anything new to the table, it's DoM2.0 with some minor, great nonetheless, improvements. You'll be playing the same way as you did in all your previous pre-renewal low rate servers, not like CloveRO where the 1% card and equip drop rate DID change how the game is played, even if a little. Go for it if you want to fill your RO nostalgia but I do not expect the server to last until July

Auras reworked into essentially stances, in addition to their normal effect, to facilitate various play styles.

Righteousness (extra damage on hitting enemy):
Melee DPS stance, gain extra 40% damage depending on how full your RF is, but RF constantly drains while in combat
All willpower on gear converted to strength

Devotion (heals when dealing damage):
Melee Healer stance
All willpower on gear converted to strength
Upon using a path of grace ability, gain a stacking willpower buff equal to 50% of your strength, maximum 3 stacks
All damage done nerfed by 50%
Repent (detaunt) passively AOE in a 30 yard radius around the target
Path of Grace abilities are now undefendable, and will ignore mitigation when determining how much healing is done by them.

Absolution (extra armor):

Passively gains RF as though they had a book equipped, an equipped book does not stack with this

The three stances defined three clear roles, and it single handedly made Grace and Wrath a viable choice to play as. I fucking loved it. Grace was admittedly a bit too strong when they had a guard, but that could have been fixed by tweaking values.

Because of these changes, I was a dedicated wrath player, able to be on par with other melee DPS. Then they removed experimental and my character became shit because I had all DPS gear and no willpower stuff, even if I would have healed which I wouldn't.

In short: We need Experimental Mode back. The ONLY legit complaint people had about it was that WP tended to be melee now and not bitch baby heal bots like the AMs.

All of the problems with RoR essentially boil down to large swathes of the community being cancer, and the easily triggered staff that refuse to do what's necessary to get their shit together as a project.

Case in point, exp mode for WP/DoKs was disabled because...
1.) a large chunk of the playerbase got butthurt that they had to learn a new playstyle and mechanic and
2.) tooltips for the new mechanic couldn't be added without client control - which they've been waiting on for months, because only two people know how to do it.
