Just some testing for THunt renown farming, came up at the end of last thread.
Keep in mind, renown gain is tied to score, so reward can fluctuate a lot depending on how many headshots you get etc.

Normal:
~140 base renown reward
Enemies do not flank much
Enemies react slowly
Enemies miss first shots even at close range, usually can't hit shit at longer range
In all, can be reliably and fairly safely rushed down in 2-3 minutes if you know how they spawn on the map.

Hard:
~160 base renown reward
Enemies flank a lot more
Enemies react a bit faster
Enemies will usually hit with first shots at close range, will generally miss with first burst at long range
Enemies react to weapon noise, and will try to wallbang you occasionally, but they usually miss
Can still be rushed in a similar 2-3 minute window, but much less reliably, since more mobile enemies means you can't trust spawns, and have to constantly be watching your back for flankers, and all enemies can kill you much quicker if they catch you at close ranges

Realistic:
~190 base renown reward
Enemies flank A LOT
Enemies react much faster, to the point where character speed has a noticeable impact on how much fire you take on an average peek
Enemies will not miss you at close ranges, and will hit you at some point within their first burst even at longer ranges
Enemies react to weapon noise a lot, often hitting you on wallbangs if you're standing right next to a wall, and will in some situations even preaim the spot where they heard your shots when rounding corners, cutting down their reaction times
Can be done in ~5 minutes if you get good spawns and do not make any mistakes, but that's by no means guaranteed. Unreliable as hell

My conclusion: it's much more reliable and efficient to just breeze through 2 normal runs in the time it would take you to do a realistic run.

Some tips for anyone who's still set on farming realistic:
-Get inside as fast as possible. The AI on realistic is very happy to go outside and flank you in wide arcs, and they will absolutely slaughter you on open ground.
-The AI can't path through vaultable holes created by destruction. This can be used to make yourself effectively unflankable in certain situations. Just remember, they can still shoot through the hole just fine, if they happen to walk past it.
-As soon as you make noise, it's more than likely that some enemies will start moving to hunt you down. Don't do anything risky until you're sure you've killed all the flankers you've attracted.
-Once you've attracted a large train of enemies and are waiting by a corner to take them out, try to vary up your shooting positions a little. As I mentioned previously, Realistic AI can "preaim" you under certain conditions if you're making noise, and you can find yourself taking fire in situations where you normally would not expect to be if you stay too still.

Recon anon here (Reconon?). My list of gripes for the game are primarily things outside of the actual engine and mechanics of the game itself, though those are still unbearable, which points at a much larger issue at a deeper base of the actual game itself rather than just some surface flaws you can buff out.

Before I deride this game, I will mention first and foremost that the customization is fleshed out and in-depth for both operator and weaponry. This was really my biggest acceptance of what the technical test had to show: you could change pretty much every article of clothing and multiple layers on your guy, and in addition, every individual part of your weapon could sport its own color and camo. This meant I could go 100% aesthetic. This pleases Recon Anon.

That's about where the good ends.

The overworld is bland and uneventful as a shitty steppe in the middle of fucking nowhere could be. No buildings or interesting things spot the countryside outside of areas where conflict occurs. Vehicles pass by rarely, and for a game that punishes you so stringently for murdering civilians (XP loss, gets exponential iirc with each one you kill in rapid succession) because M-MUH SAVING THE WORLD Tom Clancy mindset, you sure don't mind stealing their fucking cars where they can't even afford basic food. More on that in a second. With regards once more to the overworld, the same four or five generic NPC types inhabit all of the little dinky outposts you can find and hunt... you know, typical ubisoft type shit. Ohoho, clear an outpost, you can get supplies! Wowie! Wowzer! Incredible!

The dialogue is fucking atrocious. It's like someone from 1970 sat at the top of a board meeting and was like, "Mike, your kid is one of those trendy millennials, right? Can you bring them in? We need a convincing special operations soldier character." And Mike said, "No need! I remember all the hip lingo!"

I can't decide between Valkyrie and Frost as my new DLC Operator (first one was Caveira).
On the one hand I know that Valk can decide a round with a well placed black eye, on the other hand I really like the idea of a trap operator (and Kapkan sucks too much for that).

So which one got the better weapons?

Thatcher just needs to not get spawn killed to be useful 99% of the time, and SAS have great weapons generally. 2 armor/2speed is good for new players too, topped off with sledge being a great introduction to siege's destruction mechanics. There's videos wherein people experimented with damage and armor. Going from memory, 1 Armor = 100% damage taken, 2 is 90%, 3 is 80%, and wearing Rook is 60%. The reason Rook's armor increases the occurance of DBNO is because you fall down at 0 HP, but die at -20 HP. A rifle that does 45 damage per shot would kill you a 1-armor outright if you were at 25 HP or less, but wearing Rook would make it deal to you 27 damage, taking you from 25 HP to -2, DBNO territory. If you had Rook armor but were under 7 HP, that rifle shot would still kill you.

The handling on the vehicles is god-awful. It doesn't seem to be optimized for keyboards; when you hold down a key on your keyboard for left or right, it doesn't input it as a 1 or 0. No, indeed, the button works like mouse accel does, and the turning becomes more severe the longer you hold it. Which makes driving fucking IMPOSSIBLE.

The gunplay is probably the most heartbreaking. It's so limp dicked compared to how lewd the gun customization makes me feel.

they are used to polished competitive game with a static element that is based around a repetitive pattern such as sprays, smoke spots, map locations and call outs.

they come into siege and it's a jumbled mess of terrible lighting and a dynamic environment that is always changing with explosions and gunfire from everywhere

siege is more realistic and because of it it really throws a competitive smoothness out the window

just don't play this game competitively you will drive yourself insane

Pretty much this. I used to play CSGO way too much. Got to Global before the rank update. Made it to Badge after. Started losing my mind at about the 2k hour mark. I was taking it way too competitively and would blow my top everything I didn't make a shot or my team didn't communicate.

I came into Siege with a fresh pair of eyes and I instantly saw that I would never be able to take this game seriously. The inconsistencies in it made me throw any hopes of a competitive nature out the window and that was exactly what I needed. I just turned my mind off, threw some light music in the background, and just drifted on into a good time.

I know he's great in ranked because the reduced match times but in casual it feels like denial doesn't seem to be all that useful

I read things about about setting up barbed wire traps and gassing people to death but it seems so much more straightforward to just shoot them to death.

Hard to answer definitively, since "skill" comes in so many forms.
There are game sense based operators, who can be pivotal to the game based on how well they do or do not use their ability, such as Thermite and Hibana.
There are reflex and accuracy based operators, who can win rounds just by out-gunning everyone in their way, such as Ash, Jager, and most other 1-armors.

Or, to interpret this another way, the most "skill based" operators might be the ones who have nothing working in their favor at all: if you win with them, you outplayed the opposition, plain and simple. That would be most Recruit variants.
