If they added more personalities, or variations on personalities, maybe. I can't imagine having 2 of every personality in town, the couple duplicates you get with 10 villagers is already more than enough.

Speaking of personalities, I really think they should implement some sort of species-based modifiers to personalities. Cats liking fish, and bickering with dog villagers, sheep being afraid of wolf villagers, frogs loving the FUCK out of rain (the fact that they don't use umbrellas already is cool), female kangaroos acknowledging their fucking babies.

I originally posted the paths thing and the reason is this, there are already paths in game. Natural ones that reflect people's actual movement.

Plus, the game isn't designed to be regimented like that. Villagers wander fucking everywhere, making sticking to a path difficult. Doing events like hide and seek, snowman building, even basic shit like digging up fossils means ignoring them.

It really doesn't help that most people's paths are built in such ways to actually make moving around the town a proper chore, which having to walk down these long boulevards before being able to turn.

I don't know. It just seems crazy to me, it doesn't seem like living in a world any more, but trying to bend it to your will.

And as a final note, to prove I am autistic, I hate how it makes the grass sound when you walk on them. It ruins the magic.

Not to sound like a snob but I feel as if the paths in my town are very practical and minimize unnecessary movement. There's no avoiding that the sound you make while walking over them is inappropriate, but I feel that the paths add cohesiveness. Without them, you have to maintain dirt paths every day that would look sloppy in most themed towns.

I can really appreciate dirt paths in natural looking towns but they don't always have a place.

Dumbest thing I've ever fucking read desu. precise running. Dirt paths take weeks of precise and consistent, autistic running to get set up. And then a few days of inactivity to disappear. I'll admit it's impressive if you actually manage to keep up a full dirt path for the long term. But it is in no way a better or even viable option to anyone without crippling autism.

Plus, the idea is that you don't maintain them, they appear where you genuinely walk throughout your day to day playing.

If you're forcing yourself to walk there, then you're being crazy. The only reason people think it requires precising running is because people can't somehow stand a path being irregularly wide.

Let's not keep arguing. /acg/ is my escape, I don't want to argue over how my way of playing is somehow better despite loads of clear evidence. Just I associate paths with the kind of crazy control freakish behavior that leads people to have "Dreamies" or farm PWPs projects.

Oh, I understand the design book that came with this issue of Pikopuri now. They did a little design contest for readers (i.e. little girls) to draw a dress and then they made QR codes out of the designs and put it in a little book. That's fuckin' adorable.

So, I haven't played an AC game since the one on the gamecube.
I loved the game, but what put me off was how issues in the town could snowball if you took a break.

Now I'm thinking of picking up New Leaf, but I'm wondering if it has the same problem.

It's definitely more easy going, literally after a year of not playing, only one villager moved out, and since I had the 'keep town beautiful' ordinance, there were hardly, if any, weeds

Most you'll have to worry about is messy hair.

Use the Beautiful Town Ordinace to stop weeds and flower degradation.
Run around town first thing every day to check for villager pings.
If you're going to take a break make sure you stop on a day you deny a villager's move request.

Not the most convenient thing and it's not foolproof, but it does help to avoid most of the biggest annoyances.

With the update, villagers move out after ten days. So, if you miss a week, 0 people have left.

As for weeds, the beautiful town ordinance means after I was gone for about a year, I had like 4 weeds.

There's an option in game to drastically reduce the number of weeds that spawn and stop roaches from spawning in your house. Plus the last 2 villagers slots are no longer the revolving doors they once were. Now everybody is vulnerable to moving at any time, though they at least warn you about it before hand.

I like the what HHD did to the whole design aspect, it felt more free and it should have been fully integrated to NL imo.
Use the extra processing and memory power to create a fuller, more dynamic town (paths, furniture outside) and population (more text, more interactions).
Maybe create a job market, different jobs you can pic and grow at, something like being an interior designer and landscaper ala HHD, being a mayor like NL, being a waiter, farmer, desk job, etc. Sort of like a mini-game that rewards you with specific things to that job:
Perks of being a

That the town can be a town, and the city a full city (you'd take loans there, buy land, buy things not normally available in town (or have a not!amazon in a pc at home once you get one), etc.

I'm terrible at this.
I just want it to be more dynamic, less restrictive, but without stopping to be the kind of game you can play 10 min per day casually.

Well a lot of things here are little things and assuming you're still mayor

Ultimately I think I'd want NL but on a grander scale

The village itself:
>12-16 characters for your village name
>A bigger village with more villagers
>More varied geography like more hills and stuff.
>A bigger beach with some events to do on it and even some pwps you can place there

Mayor stuff:
>Being able to customize the interior of your office. Villagers can come into the town hall and directly give you suggestions.
>You can set aside an outfit that you put on automatically when you go to work on projects or go to celebrate a projects completion

PWPs:
>Being able to customize PWPs (the color and other details) and rotate them however you wish.
