Fire prevention, since you often bow tank with those ships and the only real danger are HE shells.
Since it's really difficult to land hits on your rear, they can only start fires on your bow and superstructure, but fire prevention removes the 2nd superstructure fire. This means that if the enemy gets more than one fire going, it will very likely just stay with one.

What should be the appeal of RL on USN DDs (in random, not counting CB unknown meta)?

I'm focusing on AA spec Des Moines, since I want to diversify cruiser builds in preparation for eventual clan-based activities in perhaps 8 months time. I'm experimenting with the idea of having an AA escort for strike-focused CVs if they eventually go for a CW format similar to World of Tanks.

I'd be getting more concerned about this if I actually saw it more, but so far I actually haven't been Located all that much, certainly not when I'm trying to surprise anything. Mostly it seems to be cruisers taking it in my experience, and so far they've been relatively easy to deal with, though I suspect they'd be an issue if it was a situation where I was the only one left.
I still think it's one of, if not the worst thing about this patch and want it gone as soon as possible, but I really don't think it's as gamebreaking as I've seen people claim it to be and I don't think it's going to kill the game or DDs on the whole.

Not him but I haven't had much trouble landing torps since the patch, certainly no more trouble than before it.
Maybe it's different on EU or whatever now that they have the patch too but on NA at least I rarely even saw RL go off at all. That's after a day of mostly playing US DDs too. In fact I saw it go off more in my few BB games than I did in my DD matches, which is not what I was expecting.

For a BB that doesn't have amazing side armor I would expect them to stop flashing their sides to people so much.
I've played a few games in my Hotel since the patch for the first time in a while and in every single one there was some Iowa sailing out broadside on to my already spotted ship without a care in the world until I shaved off 30-40k of their health in one salvo.
Most of them weren't even paying the slightest amount of attention, are Iowa players all the most elderly part of the playerbase or something?

Meet the Bofors 57mm, each twin mount should be worth about the same DPS as 3 of the 40mm quads, and with better range too. And the 100mm/55 Mle1945 is pretty comparable to the 5"/38 as an AA gun.

The entire UI is infuriating. I mean, when you look at the team lists, it hardly displays any characters. When Ranked is going on, the fucking rank icon pushes like 3 characters off your name so that only like 6 characters are displayed. Now that we have clantags, it's even worse. The next time Ranked starts up, you'll be able to see half of someone's clantag and that's it.

It's why I feel getting a playerpanel mod is necessary every patch.

The UI is bad in so many tiny and actually easily orrected ways.

The names not beign displayed is just one part.
WoT had options to set the player panels to whatever you liked five years ago. Why is this still missing from WoWS?
The chat doesn't add what ship type the sender is in, and I can't read the names in the palyer panels if they have more than five characters.
The minimap still has no 'display names or ship types' option built in.

So I can't see who I'm playing with, or associate who might be telling me something with what ships are around me unless I spent half my time turning my camera around and looking for the names above friendly ships that may or may not be close to me.

It's no wonder that half the playerbase is terrible if they can't fucking see shit on the team panels and minimap and have to spend minutes figuring out who just told them something.

Still the DD's fault, you don't fire your torps until you're sure the field is going to stay clear of friendlies for the time it's going to take your torps to hit the target. A Friendly ship could have any number of reasons to change heading at any time, when you fire your torps you should always take that into account and not just assume that absolutely nothing will change in the minute or two it takes your torps to hit.
