I dunno about the rest but Fafnir is mostly about Physical damage with a splash of elemental with sometimes pure elemental when transformed. Point Blank > Transform > Wave Attack with Weakness wrecks shit. Sometimes I just cannot even when it comes down to an Attack Ordered Fafnir hitting an Guard Slash debuffed enemies weakness with Point Blank on

But those are emergency scenario's or "advanced" boss burning tactics, for dungeon crawling you will pretty much be a Saber using physical attacker, also keep in mind Transform also increases ALL damage, including Saber/physical attacks. So I vote for stacking Blade Mastery for more consistency. Then Charge at 40

Arianna's links can be there for pure elemental damage and Chloe gives zero shits about armor.

4: This was just a generic 2spooky4u place with nothing interesting going on. It was harder than the rest of the game, but it was still too easy, and that final boss was the most pathetic final boss of the series, even without weakening it first. All in all, a complete disappointment.

2: This one's concept was great; the most threatening and dangerous place of the labyrinth was ironically the Garden of Eden, a place so calm-looking that you really wouldn't expect it, with a fallen angel as its final boss. Unfortunately, that same calmness made it boring after a couple floors.

1: The heart of Yggdrasil; very dangerous, and by far the hardest I've played. It was creepy but not over the top. Bullshit final boss in both the original and the remake, but what can you expect? It's Yggdrasil itself.

3: Now THIS one was creepy as fuck. A lovecraft inspired, longer that normal labyrinth with super threatening music, hard encounters, FOE puzzles, a huge feeling of paranoia when monsters attack you near a wall, and the final boss with the best and most fitting music in the whole EO series? Fuck yes.

Scarlet Hollows: I appreciate the theme, horror and increase in difficulty but the bullshit it throws at you is too hard to stomach. Teleport floors are more of a test of patience than they are a test of skill and the nature of random encounter just don't mesh with the accuracy they demanded to solve FOE puzzles. B25F asks for far too long of an expedition, waiting for you to mess up a button press and start from scratch.
Forbidden Forest: you know what's worse than a bullshit game? A boring game. The theme of that stratum would have been great... in a game that didn't have FOUR other forests before it, each one of them being more visually appealing. Encounters were completelly harmless save for a couple gimmicks that you are explained about in detail before ever encountering them. And the fog +teleport combo is the most tedious gimmick I've seen in the series, yet they decided it was a good idea to plaster 4 whole floors with it. Next time I play I'll use graph paper, it's just faster.

Hall of Darkness: great atmosphere throughout (although I'm not a fan with reusing Forbidden Library textures just splattered with blood). Although the difficulty was kind of low, at least it had threatening encounters until you learn to deal with (and trivialize) them. Gimmicks with dark rooms, Pac-Man borders and ice pillars/floors are already more fun to work with than what the other two had to offer. So basically this is somewhere between the overarching bullshit of Scarlet Hollows and the tedious borefest of Forbidden Forest.

I hope Cyclopean Haunt can surpass all of them.

You can use whichever classes you like, but you still have to build and use them properly. There are lots of ways to get around 'not having any elemental defense' that don't require making a dedicated Runemaster, like items, killing shit super fast, subclassing, binding, ailments, tanking, etc.

2 is unfair as fuck with 100% guaranteed ambush fights for most of the game, and unless you have the perfect team or use cheese tactics you cannot do some post game bosses, or grind. The level cap is 70, but if you retire at 70 you can level to 71, start at level 30, grind to 71, retire to 72, etc. This is a daunting way to get to 99, but not super impossible since strata bosses give LOTS of exp and if you have a good solid cookie cutter team you can tackle strat 6 in your mid 50s and exp as you explore. I made it to 81 from explore>max exp>retire>rest in inn until strata bosses reset>mid 50s>repeat. Ur-child still fucked my ass hard and had to resort to Painless spam

3 has difficulty, but easily broken with subclassing and googling some team builds

1 is also rough, but becomes stupidly easy when you max out Immunize with your medic, due to a bug/improper coding, slash/bash/pierce are counted as elements so Immunize resists everything, boosted Immunize makes you a god, a Troubadour with the group regen song allows the medic to go in swinging with Goliath like strength with Caduseus while Immunize is up since you regen more than you lost

4 is kinda challenging for your first game, until you get subclassing and bushi then becomes cake.

As for the Untold games added into this, Untold Experts are generally harder than the originals, but highly manageable with planning/proper building. Untold 2's difficulty took this general a while to get through some shit like the storm dragon, one anon had trouble with Flame Demon, etc.
