If you wanna keep flying that Merlin train small Hybrid Weapons and then Hybrid Railgun/Blaster Spec, and of course Caldari Frigate skill. Since you'll probably want to shield tank it, train stuff from the Shield skills as well.

Before that, you might want to train essential core skills like Hull Upgrades IV and most things on the Engineering and Navigation skillsets. That goes for everyone, not just Merlin pilots.

I had very little experience and never had more than 50mil in the market escrow until that day.

Cant remember the items. I just checked the fits of my corp and saw how much volume it moved and its profits, then branched out as I gathered more info. Some 3rd party tools can do the work for you but its guaranteed you'll compete with bots.

No, I refused to undock since it meant to lose the spot at the top of the orders. If you're willing to treat it like a job, moving stuff between trade hubs can make some decent profits but it can be a headache after a while.

Jita trading is insanely profitable but in the end the bots will kill whatever you have left for soul.

Stop doing exploration in wormholes, use wormholes to get into quiet nullsec systems. In nullsec you can use "Pirates Little Helper" to check out who is in local. Assess the the risk based off of who is in local. Do they pvp often? Do they kill explorers often? If not you should be okay to do the sites. Also just in case you didn't know, skip data sites because they are cancer and if you do them you are a tist.

Merlin or condor for a beginner? Which is ea sier to play? Which is cheaper to fit?

Drones V is essential to get good use out of a drone boat, and getting T2 drones and your drone supports up will massively boost its effectiveness. Drones are used on essentially all subcap combat ships cruiser up so the skillpoints will be used on lots of ships.

Like most things in eve you can still be effective with less, depending on what you're trying to accomplish. What are you wanting to do with your ship?

The confessor is a great ship. It Looks great and is an effective pvp boat even after a nerf. t3ds in general are pretty good for new players, as they offer a lot of power for a relatively low skill investment. Laser weaponry has slightly tougher skill requirements than other gunnery systems to be effective however, and I'm not sure the confessor is an optimal pve ship outside of wolf rayet wormholes. If you're inexperienced with pvp I'd be cautious about trying to get into it with confessors unless you're happy with your income as t3ds can be a bit pricy if you're planning on losing a few. Easy targets like most exploration frigs and the like should be safe pickings however.

I'd recommend trying to find a corp and getting stuck into the game a bit more as soon as you're confident with the basic mechanics.

That one catches out a lot of people. There's also some missions where you just have to pick up an item or kill one target, and just doing that saves a lot of time, so it's worth reading the description quickly the first time you do a particular mission

Remember when you had to train Learning skills and increase your attributes before you could even have fun in Eve? Remember when you had to update your clones? When Bantam was a mining ship? Thr proteus and Legion are pretty similar, they get amazing armor tanks and can hit moderately far with rails/beams. You can do a ham Legion but it's not as good as the ham tengu, you can do a drone proteus but it's pretty shit. All the loki has going for it is armor tank and webs

High sec hauling doesn't pay much and you'll need 1b for collateral to get started. The go to ship is a DST, I wouldn't bother with freighters unless you're doing industry and even then I'd outsource most hauling.
The big Isk is in market seeding with jump freighters and region trading (and outsourcing the hauling).

You won't regret training for transport ships even if you burn out after a while. If you plan on making decent amounts of Isk with hauling that means thousands of jumps and long hours though. It takes a very special kind of person to go from DST to JF with just the income from courier contracts.
