Wrong, the knee jerk comeback gold patch after TI3 was the beginning of the downfall of Dota. A team got to the finals with a hard push strat, lost in the end, and the fanbase was incredibly assblasted because they didn't like seeing their favorite teams get stomped. The loss of that strategy in the end proved that "get an early lead and hold onto it" wasn't a foolproof strategy, but Valve nerfed it anyway and now we're seeing the repercussions of that.

The game went from one of the most balanced patches (with a few balance problems which could've been fixed easily) and years of optimization where 6 year old laptops can run it, to this mess where people with thousand dollar gfx cards can't run it on max and balance problems not only got ignored, but an overhaul was introduced with skill trees and map changes along with new objectives which made games hella long.

I'm from Chile and I get really low ping to play on US East and I couldn't play on South America since October (my guess) of 2016 because I had too much ms (basically what I get now).
Then since the end of last year and before the pseudo-"region lock" I had ~130-160ms on S.A and US East, but now things came back to normal

My guess is that good connection Peruvians get less ms from US East and bad connection ones get better ping from South America.
