Rune is fine. I think a lot of people still play it more than elf because they've invested in it at the expansion launch before gobbu roach was a thing.

Stuff like this (and evolving storm cards or turn 4 evolves) is why I went from liking the evolve mechanic to hating it. It creates too many situations where you feel hopeless because there is literally no meaningful play you can make when they can just throw out an inexpensive answer to it that gives them a ton of value and board control.
They added turn five cards and completely failed to realize that the problem is that there are no ways to have your board survive against the turn 4 evolve cards, except by playing aggro and having three + followers.

Does terribly against all the other played decks right now. Also the Daria matchup isn't even reliably in its favor. Daria shits on all deck types regardless of what they try to counter. A deck heavily geared toward countering aggro will still get shat on by Daria unless their draws are absolutely awful

Elf is really easy to counter, but most decks prioritize doing good against rune and bats, since that's literally half the ladder. Meanwhile rune is still doing fucking amazing even though literally every deck is designed against it.

In fact, getting a HUGE collection right off the bat helped me a lot with enjoying the game
I got tons of free cards to experiment with, and it took a while to read what each card does, but it was worth it.

/svg/ help me, what's the proper term for "mindgame levels" or whatever? It's associated with chess a lot, if I recall correctly.
Like "He expects I'll do x, therefore I should do y." is level 1. Level 2 is "He expects I'll do y because he thinks I expect him to think I'm going to do x, therefore I should do x." Level 3 would be "He expects me to expect him of thinking that I will do x in expectation of him expecting that I will do y in expectation of him thinking that I will do x, therefore I should do y."
At high level games such as aggro blood mirrors, the players often need to think at the 6th, 7th, or 8th level.

It's funny because the first week of RoB felt faster than ever, now games are just a slog at the end after tons of removals.

That's literally what makes her good though. Her statline means that it can be hard to clear her without using something like Themis or Dance of Death, or by sacrificing a really valuable follower.
You then proceed to fuck them up with a bunch of burn spells or a surviving board if you had it.
I look at her as literally a draw a card card for cycle. You basically disrupt the match and force the opponent to answer this card or they lose. I sometimes preemptively evolve her just to remove even more options for the opponent.
Throwing her down on curve in a situation where your opponent is out of evolves can really fuck them up. She functions like how Beast Dominator probably should have worked.

Except they achieve different things. Disaster Witch gives you a spell meaning you need additional PP to use it, it can target any enemy, and does one damage less.
You don't know what powercreep is. Also they are from different classes anyway. It's important that Shadow doesn't have things as potent as Garuda because they already have an abundance of retarded face damage capabilities.
Cards like Levi (or Disaster Witch had she came out in DE or standard) used to be fine because Rune had virtually no viable ways to close out a match prior to turn eight or so.
Daria will probably force the devs to have to nerf some cards, even though they hate doing that. The game just can't continue to have cards like Roach, Piercing Rune, Levi, etc.. be the cost that they are and be as powerful as they are.

It's hard to even fit in Alucard anymore. It just makes me feel like a generic control deck, but with really situational combos instead of reliable win conditions.
The lack of good board clears is a huge problem too. Matriarch is not a bad card, but would be better as a 3/3 that did 3 to all the enemies since doing 2 on Turn 7 is rarely relevant.
Most games I lose, I lose because I can't go into Vengeance on turn five or six so they just destroy me because I have no good clear against a huge board outside of Revelation

To be honest that's not really relevant. Daria banishing her hand actually keeps her somewhat reasonably balanced.
The real problem is Piercing Rune and Levi. They have way too much value. When I am control and play against Daria and lose, it is almost always because of the fact that Levi clears your board for three PP and Piercing Rune does face damage for a whopping 1.
Three Blade Mages, Three Levi Bombs, Three Piercing Runes. That's 21 damage if it all goes face. Will that happen? Not usually, but the deck runs so much cycle and has so many tokens that you'll always take damage. Plus there's the Magic Missiles and Angelic Snipes too. It's so much burst damage.
Daria is a powerful cycle to help the deck keep going, but if it didn't have so many overpowered cards to cycle into, Daria herself would be much weaker.
The same argument can be used for the Goblin Mage. She herself isn't too strong, but there are overpowered two cost cards like Roach that are way too strong.
If you nerf Daria to the point to where people stop using her, they'll probably just make some minor tweaks to add more cheap cycle and then turn it into a similar deck, but with PtP as an alternative win condition.

That's already a lot. In a game like this where there aren't that many cards and you only have 20 health, stuff like that is crazy. It's like how Sword has way too much storm cards, but when you actually look there aren't that many. They run three copies of all of them so it makes up for a sizable chunk of their deck.

No one cares about wards. Phantom Howl is so flexible that it can be delayed. This is different from aggro decks where they need a bunch of tokens to be on board and survive a turn to do damage. Shadow can wait as long as they want to do the combo. There are almost no good heal cards so you aren't really achieving anything when you slap down a ward. Yeah Matriarch feels like she came an expansion too late. She would have been amazing against Otohime and the Cynthia/Wind God themed decks we used to see. I think I've only Matriarch'd an Otohime once so far and it's because I never even come across the opportunity to do it. I'm thinking of cutting her. She never really achieves anything when I'm losing. She feels like a win harder card that can prevent the opponent from making a board when they empty their hand of tokens. Daria empties her hand and it's 7/7s, 5/5s, 3/4s, etc...

While it will record a loss for the other deck, the issue is that if you win against someone with, say, a white wolf deck, you will usually assume they're just tempo and record them incorrectly. Aggro Blood will always function that way. It's popular early in the meta and then quickly dies out because everyone starts rerunning their counters to it. It is only truly ridiculous when people are experimenting with greedy decks. As decks refine, Aggro Blood grows weaker.

It's actually very hard now because all the decks that are even in D0-C3 are Daria and Aggro Blood. I have only seen like maybe 4-5 other decks there.
Took me a while to climb because even my Daria deck is losing (I went 1st 15 times against other Daria's consecutively, that was horrendous). But why is my OTK Roach the one giving me wins? The only time I lose with it is I didn't get my 4 and 5 drops in time.

I'm at A3 and Daria accounts for nearly every deck I've seen today and in most days. It's either Daria or the Roach Forest. The way ranked is done in Shadowverse just isn't fun. Instead of having it reset every month, it never resets so they just make the grind ridiculously long and tedious. I've gotten within 100 to rank up in A3 multiple times and just end up falling back down. It isn't fun or particularly encouraging to keep going. Once you get to Master there isn't even anything left to do except for the times where they offer rewards.
It's one of the few things Hearthstone does better. You get rewards for how far you climbed and then it resets so you can try again next month.

Any time you play a spell as Rune you have to think about how the next card you draw may have been a card you could spellboost. It is actually really relevant especially on turn one if you have something like Angelic or Insight in hand.
I've been using a lot of Dshift recently, and I end up always thinking about that stuff. If you already have Dshift and such in hand then of course you go ham, but otherwise sometimes it is better to be more reluctant. This is especially true against Aggro Blood or Forest in general. Holding off on that Magic Missile could mean surviving an entire extra turn later on.
People have a tendency to downplay the thought that goes into Rune decks because Dshift and Daria are both really strong.

Perfect example of this. In no world is a class like Rune more simple than say Sword.
None of the decks in this game require much thought. Same with Hearthstone. These games don't allow for interaction on the opponent's turn and there is always an optimal play (with very rare exceptions) each turn and it usually is just curving out. You win based on your draws and knowing the cards in your deck. Any competent player can do just as well as you in that match so long as you have the same cards. It sucks and there is little strategy involved, but that's how all hearthstone-likes are.
But to say that there is no thought involved in casting a spell as Rune is completely retarded and factually wrong.

There are important decisions on what to play and when, especially on daria turns. A guy lost in the open tournament yesterday because he dropped a 3 mana ogler and then daria'd when he had not drawn a levi or any runes yet and the opponent had board presence. The ogler contested the board well and could be evolved (or daria evolve), but he had a high likelihood of drawing into runes or levi or better playable cards and the extra 4 (he had 1 remaining) would have been huge.
While there is hindsight in knowing he drew levi and a piercing rune, the fact is the ogler did nothing impactful and the correct play was to just daria.
There are also people that evolve before playing daria that turn when they should be playing say levi, daria, then evolve levi so that they can get piercing runes reduced and new cards can be reduced by the sorc card instead of playing levi, evolve, fireball (they think this free reduction of daria and better play) then play daria.
There is a lot of thought to optimally pilot daria. Unfortunately, you are rarely punished for misplays which is what makes the deck so strong.

No they arent. Running 8-12 "aggro" cards is not midrange. Yurius, Vania, Veight are all strong cards that help get you to the late game and it doesnt make them midrange for running them. You need early game cards to survive still.

Blame the daily system. There's only one daily that doesn't involve having to win (the evolve 3/5). If there were more like 'kill X followers' or 'do X damage to face' you'd see a lot more people fucking around in unranked. Since it's just wins, people are always going to play what works.

There's nothing wrong with your build.
I would recommend dropping Playful Necromancer and getting some Bone Chimeras. The synergy between Chimera and Reaper is ridiculous. I've lost count of the amount of times I've got a 4/4 Reaper because of Chimera alone. Playful Necro is not too necessary anymore, though she is still very good. Try it out. If you are losing too much it's probably due to bad match ups.
