Ok so I have messed about with the "skill use" stat for a bit now:

first thing to note this stat seems to favor odd numbers i.e. if you set it to 500 it will reset to 498.5


This is with a Fighter and Warrior pawn
also reviewed the stat on some hired pawns from the community (didnt change the values on hired pawns)

Finding my main pawn had a low end skill use stat was surprising 293 at the time and my seconday pawn had 396

Fighter pawn:
293 a lot of core skill use very little shield use and seemed to use skills at only opportune times

498.5 a lot of skill use with some core skill usage perfect blocks where more prevalent
approached with shield at the ready when near enemy

998.5 very defensive shield at the ready most of the time more skill use than before but still used core skills perfect blocks or hindsight sweep used to mitigate most attacks

Warrior pawn:
396 seemed real well balanced used core skills and skills, and made some use of exodus slash

498.5 starts jumping to dodge attacks as if the vocation was supposed to have a core skill like dodge started mixing up attacks between skills and core skills more but does tend to favor corona slash

998.5 same issue with the jumping but now seems to have some sort of input reading now will walk out of the range of enemies attacks uses jump attacks a lot and core skill use nearly disappears

Ritz was really amazing. used her skills effectively and rarely died.
Jonathan did pretty OK. he died pretty often but often used his skills. never saw him perfect block though. i'm assuming that's because of his lack of beastiary and having 3 shield skills. don't really have any advice other than to goldforge his gear asap and work on his beastiary. also drop his shield skills

Ok, let me rephrase. Your post, by saying "could help by not hiring vg pawns," implied that my problem was hiring /vg/ pawns, i.e. summoning for sekrit club reasons over function, whereas I was unaware that they were /vg/ pawns in the first place and simply hired the first pawns I found with 100% possession resist.

I'm well aware of the list, I'm just confused as to why you'd say hiring from it is a mistake, then give me the list anyway.
Further, looking at the list again, neither of them ever ARE /vg/ pawns, so in conclusion typing this was a waste of time and ur a faggit.

Owner of Aria, had to led her go. Somewhat outdated for post game, she kept getting rekt too much. She was a good help though. Switching off the Implicate made my experience a lot better at least.

To the owners of Rheya and Kiryu, I just sent them back.

Rheya was doing pretty well despite being only level 33 in BBI. Her spells weren't doing a whole lot but she kept me topped up on Holy Element which helped a lot.

Kiryu's survivability was way higher than I expected, I only had to revive him a handful of times. Divine Defense seemed to be doing work for him. He also pulled aggro like a champ.

Enjoy those moonshimmer pelts, you earned them.

As soon as I hit 100 I switched to MA because I was already killing this well enough.
After leveling to 130 I don't understand minmaxing to 200 in this game because nothing is a threat anyways if you min-max leveled your damage stat from 10-100.
Hell, technically not even 10-100. I went from 28-100 as sorcerer with 10-28 being a mage.

Thanks man, reading that after all those no gift/no comment/all 3 stars I got was very refreshing.
I was a little unsure about how he uses Divine Defense (mostly well but sometimes he does something stupid with it), really glad that he used it properly.
I have a question, did you see him using Heavenward Lash? With me he doesn't use it, I'm thinking about replacing it with something else.

I saw blue knights that were impenetrable for me(Warrior)so I went other route.Later today I put War Cry and came back to fight them but to my surprise the same room now was inhabited by two cursed dragons.

The big, circular rooms that look like arenas normally have multiple spawn set ups that change when you renter, what I do find surprising is that it had two cursed dragons, never got that set up there
Actually, most of BBI has at least two sets of spawns for rooms, like the very first room could have either grimgoblins or giang saurians

I have to admit I wasn't looking too closely at exactly what he was doing. He used Maw but didn't spam it and run out of stamina, so that's nice.

I was just expecting him to die a bunch since he's only lv.40 and his gear is ok but not BBI gear, but he seemed really resilient.

I've favorited him, i'll take him out again tomorrow maybe and see how much he favours different skills.

I use sorcerer myself and pawn too, seems the ideal amount is 2 always. Anyway, changed to some rental strider and a ranger and it is MUCH smoother going now.

Dark Arisen:
Is there a way to hotkey curatives? I'm swimming in stamina curatives so I'd like to use my triple arrow til exhaustion and then just heal my stamina but it's such a hassle to diddle around in the menu every time.

Death is my favourite enemy in any game probably, sure the mechanics of the fight itself are lackluster but it's got that "organic" quality of appearing seemingly at random, on top of that it's spooky as fuck. Reminds me of what black knights in dark souls were supposed to be.

This actually reminds me of why I like this game so much, there are seemingly "unscripted" events that result in this type of emergent gameplay storytelling, It's nice in roguelikes but "triple A" polished titles that pull it off I find myself loving and playing for hundreds of hours, on the opposite end of the spectrum are trashfest games like Skyrim where you just have pockets of enemies in handpicked positions, there is no unpredictability, and to iterate, it's again, that "organic" and unpredictable design that just makes a game worth replaying over and over again, I just hope one day we get a game that pulls it off fluently

yeah I'm 100% positive about what you said, if they ever make a Dragon's dogma 2 or a similiar game I hope they can add something similiar to BBI, because it's truly what makes this game shine, together with the ability to climb monsters, they might make an enemy with similiar behavior of death.
As for skyrim, I've no idea why people even bother to play it normally anymore, it's pretty boring and it always has been at this point I'm just keeping it as sexlab machine because there is really nothing else worth to do in that game.

Just sent back Kiryu. Motherfucker ate about 4 out of 5 drake grabs with his Divine Defense, I didn't even know pawns could use it reliably well. Stayed on top of everything in combat, too. He's pretty good all around, just wish his fashion wasn't so busted.

You probably didn't see him using Hindsight Sweep because for some reasons he just doesn't want to use a third sword skill, I keep changing the skill in the third slot but, no matter what, he just love using Blitz Stike and Dragon's Maw while ignoring everything I put in the last sword slot. The only one he barely used is Antler Toss.

For the fashion, I'm still waiting to find a manly&classy alternative, I fuck around a lot with the fashion of my Arisen but for my pawn I'm trying to make him stay "in-character" (with gears preferably white/silver because of Kazuma Kiryu's white suit). I must say that I'm also somewhat satisfied with how he's now, though, pretty flawed but the "vibe" I was searching is already there. Maybe it would be better if I just scraped the idea and remake him from his physical apperance, though.

Instead of that in this period we are getting a lot of the bones-walking-bones' natural enemies the THICC legion.

I love this game.And playing as a Warrior.Treading BBi felt so good.

Just killed the last foe, the demon looking one, in BBi for first time.

I never could kill the Death dude.His AoE attack kept wiping my pawns and I couldn't revive them, but now having killed the last boss maybe I should have used Come! command like in the last boss fight?But I don't know if the claustraphobic environment would have allowed it...Tho I got good fight going in the sewers, got his few bars taken out without any pawns sweeped but he ran.I must be missing something.

The story feels better than in Gransys, tho I don't understand it fully yet,I am slow i guess lol.Need the missing memories unlocked, I missed some.Missed 0/3 things and some Macabre statues.

My only disappointment is levellng too fast, I'm in hard mode.Definitely going to install alternative xp table mod in my other character playthrough.


I shall continue tomorrow for 2nd run.Hopefully the enemies get stronger like in Post Game Gransys.

yeah I should farm royal guards with him as a warrior, and as a strider maybe and give him some new augs, he has like 180k Vocation points and never switched his vocation for anything but manipulating purifications, was a pretty bad idea not too, but then again everytime I hire a warrior pawn I get terribly deluded by how useless they are

but I highly advise against playing hard from lvl 1 if starting a new save unless you know what the fuck you are doing, or you will end up not playing the game for a year just because hard mode from lvl 1 put me off.
It's much better to do hard mode on NG+ or never
